1. It has come to the attention of forum staff that Dollshe Craft has ceased communications with dealers and customers, has failed to provide promised refunds for the excessive waits, and now has wait times surpassing 5 years in some cases. Forum staff are also concerned as there are claims being put forth that Dollshe plans to close down their doll making company. Due to the instability of the company, the lack of communication, the lack of promised refunds, and the wait times now surpassing 5 years, we strongly urge members to research the current state of this company very carefully and thoroughly before deciding to place an order. For more information please see the Dollshe waiting room. Do not assume this cannot happen to you or that your order will be different.

What was Your first Doll?

Dec 8, 2012

    1. My first doll ever was a tan Resinsoul Mei. I loved her so much, she was definitely one of the most special dolls I've ever had. I think I might order one again someday.

    2. I won my first doll a goodreau rusty that 1 doll got my addicted I have 11 now lol

    3. I got a Luts Clary nude on ebay. I now have 4 Iplehouses. I have gotten all mine from other owners so far and one came to me from Europe to California. I have not ordered from IP or anyone yet, but am sure I will someday. I like that I have been able to see all the dolls before I got them and did not have the wait in ordering them.

    4. I got my first doll two weeks ago. :) She is an Island Doll Amy Palace Versailles. Here's a picture: http://fav.me/d84atjo
She's a beauty! I'm waiting till payday to get new wig and eyes for her. :)

    5. A Luts Clary. She was the one that called out to me as a must have.

    6. A Customhouse Petite Ai, Ramiel sculpt I believe. I'd only ever really seen these Asian ball jointed dolls on the Internet, but they seemed like they were my dream come true perfect dolls. However, they were pretty expensive, plus, not having had an opportunity to examine one and see it move, I was a little afraid they might just be too good to be true. So I decided I'd start small, since they were a little less expensive then the MSD and SD sized dolls. That way, I wouldn't be out quite so much if they didn't live up to my expectations. I went searching, and found this adorable little Petite Ai for sale. I just fell in love with that solemn, sad, little face.
Since Petite Ai were supposedly genderless, I thought my first BJD would be this beautiful, sweet little boy named Kestrel. Well, I got the name right at least, but Kestrel turned out to be much younger than I'd planned, and entirely the wrong sex! Try as I might, there was just no convincing her to be anything other than what she was, a little girl just barely turned four years old.

I have to admit, Kestrel isn't my favorite doll. To be honest, I was rather disappointed with her body sculpt which seemed rather chubby, like that of a very young toddler who hasn't quite lost all their baby fat yet. I'm just not into babies or toddlers, whether they're dolls or real live ones. I'm afraid I just don't see the appeal.
I was also disappointed to find that she lacked any sort of a torso joint either at the waist or just below the chest, thus limiting her range of motion and ability to pose. Still, I saw enough about Kestrel to convince me that I had finally found my dream dolls.

That was nine years ago, and little kestrel is still here. There is no way I could possibly get rid of her, she is my first BJD after all. Besides, I promised her two older brothers, two of my four "Second" dolls to arrive, that I wouldn't. ^_^

    7. The first doll I ordered was Volks' SDC May, but the first doll that came in the mail was Volk's SA Coco.

    8. My first dolls were both from Doll Family H, Tao Yue and Star. I got them together as a family story and they ended up back in their boxes after about a month or two. Star has come back out earlier this year with a new wig that made me fall back in love, but Yue is still in her box and likely to be sold at some point.

    9. My first doll was Betsy, from Dreaming Doll. But few week after, I buy a Isabel from Mystic Kids in JunkySpot. This second doll arrives to home a couple weeks before that my DD.

    10. My first doll was a Volks Standard Elena. I bought her whilst there was still a Tenshi-no-Sumika here in Los Angeles with my BFF. I really was so amazed by them and knew a strong love for Volks was growing within me. I don't own Elena anymore since she doesn't fit my dolly aesthetic, but I'll always remember how wonderful that day was when I first got her.

    11. My first doll was a Bobobie Tony which I purchased used at an anime convention swap meet in September. Two weeks later I ordered a Minifee Chloe (which I had been eyeballing for a long time.) I grew too impatient waiting for her and ordered an In Stock Angell Studio Cinderella pink. I got her about two weeks ago and am so in love with my new little family (I'm still waiting on Chloe though)!

    12. My first doll was Islanddoll Amy i brought second hand but i have sold her now for a while ago

    13. I just got into the hobby this summer, so I only have one bjd and she's still very new: a DollLove 1/6 YoYo.

    14. My first doll was a secondhand Bobobie Mei. I didn't actually want her though... I didn't even know Bobobie existed until I got the package from my parents. I just got a Soom Dia boy though, who I've wanted for as long as I can remember. :aheartbea So, I'm saying he is my first 'real' doll. :dance

    15. My first doll, just a few months ago, was a Hujoo Berry. I sorta dipped my toe in the water with her, then fell all in. Now I have my first resin doll, a secondhand Bobobie Espree, and have a Minifee Chloe and a Pukifee PongPong on order. :)

    16. My first dolls were an Angel Street Zazean, and an island Doll crystal. I've since sold the crystal because I couldn't bond with her because of her size. I've been collecting BJD for about a year now, and I now have 7 dolls, and plans for one more. They're like potato chips, can't just have one!

    17. Fairyland Littlefee Ante. Will be the first and maybe only doll until i change my mind later :)

    18. My first and only (so far) is a FantasyDoll Nina v1. But I bought her some new stuff including alternate eyes, and thought "These are so pretty. They should be in a doll full-time...... Craaaaaap". Its a slippery slope, I see, hahahha.

    19. My first doll was the Mystic Kids Illy. His companion should come soon, but I probably won't be allowed to open it until Christmas... (Maybe I can "inspect" the contents?)

    20. Delf Kid Maska human. : ) Love him!
