1. It has come to the attention of forum staff that Dollshe Craft has ceased communications with dealers and customers, has failed to provide promised refunds for the excessive waits, and now has wait times surpassing 5 years in some cases. Forum staff are also concerned as there are claims being put forth that Dollshe plans to close down their doll making company. Due to the instability of the company, the lack of communication, the lack of promised refunds, and the wait times now surpassing 5 years, we strongly urge members to research the current state of this company very carefully and thoroughly before deciding to place an order. For more information please see the Dollshe waiting room. Do not assume this cannot happen to you or that your order will be different.

What was Your first Doll?

Dec 8, 2012

    1. The doll that originally sucked me into the hobby was a Dollzone Yuu2, and of course, was my first doll. Although I no longer have him, he was a great first doll :) My taste started to shift to slightly more realistic dolls as I got deeper into the BJD world.

    2. My first bjd was a Doll Chateau Faust (on a girl body), she was the first i felt in love with, so i bought her. At the beginning i wasnt sure about buyin her, because DC is kinda expensive and i was scared i couldnt handle such a small and petite doll but she is my FAV now and one of the best things ive evr bought :)
In total i have 3 DCs in my family, also 3 Doll leaves and very soon a Maskcat and Dollzone !!

    3. My first doll was a Dollzone Shoyo..looking back now I was so eager to get a BJD I bought her out of haste. However, she made me see how much I enjoy this hobby and wanted to find a "dream doll" so to speak.

    4. Mine was a natural progression of a lifelong love of dolls, and I was always especially attracted to the ones with lots of joints and articulation - when I was nine I drew pictures of my ideal doll and, looking at the pictures now, I was dreaming of ball jointed dolls.... but those weren't around in the 70's (except for porcelain dolls on woodpulp composition ball jointed bodies, which I did a course to learn how to make) so I had to wait until about ten years ago when I was looking at a Sasha Doll website and saw a second hand bjd for sale and asked what it was.

Armed with that minimal knowledge I found a small UK-based doll forum with a BJD section on it and asked questions and went looking for my first BJD. I ended up buying a second hand Luts Chiwoo on E-bay (I didn't like the idea of dealing with a company where their first language wasn't English - in case there were any problems - and I wanted pictures of the actual doll I would be getting, not a generic company photo).

It was the start of a slippery slope - from that one BJD that I thought would be the only one I'd have, I now have fifty of them, ranging in size from RealPuki to Lusion.

    5. i was never a big fan of dolls growing up but i fell in love with bjd when i saw one on deviantart, at the time i was young and so had no money of my own, but my mum and dad where kind and bought me one as a joint birthday/Christmas present, and so i had to find one that was a reasonable price and i ended up getting a Doll-love lincy, who at the time i guess i liked, it was more i wanted a doll and so i got her and immediately things went wrong as the hook on her hand broke and i had to makeshift repair her with a bit of ribbon, i think that moment spoiled her for me, i didn't know that i should have contacted the company for a replacement.
i still have her, only because she was a gift and if i ever wanted to experiment on a doll i can use her as mean as that may sound.
maybe my real problem with her was that she was just to small, as i have found out that i love SD+ size dolls over MSD's.
so the doll that actually got me into the hobby i would say it was my second doll a Dreaming doll mature Judy, as she was the first doll that i had bought myself, even if for half a year she sat naked XD

    6. My first doll was a MD Ryu! I actually got interested in the hobby because of my best friend at the time. Also, as an art major, the idea that I could customize a doll for myself sounded like so much fun :)

    7. Resinsoul Long on a Gang body. lol I've wanted him since high school but I only got him recently.

    8. I have always liked dolls and collecting them, but usually only the fashion "toy" lines. I also collect vinyl figures, blind bags and other collectibles, like Funko ...ect.

I have liked BJDs for a long time and finally put my first one on layaway through DDE in 2012. I got a 5stardoll Lydia. I don't guess she is a popular sculpt because I have not seen many other owner pictures of her, but I love her.

    9. I've never been that much into dolls as a child. I had barbies but I always thought they looked silly and I cut their hair (way too short) xD

My interest in BJDs started in my early teens, but they were way too expensive for me then.

I had forgotten about them for years. At Dutch comic con, there was a stand with BJDs (Think Pink!). This made me completely fall in love with them again.

I started researching BJDs again and joined DOA. The first doll I got was Withdoll Kiara and she is amazing <3

    10. I didn't really do dolls at all until I was 21 and realised that there could be lovely boy dolls at all, let alone ones that I'd like. My first was a Delf Lu-Wen, who came with an additional sleepy vampire head and I fell so embarrassingly in love with 60cm-or-so boys that I immediately got the second head an additional body, so then I straight away had two!

    11. I first saw BJDs on Pullip Style, where they also had a Ringdoll section. I was interested, but they seemed too expensive. Then saw more of them while browsing deviantArt; these captured my attention and I learned more about them. The first dolls that got me interested in the BJD hobby were Soom monthly dolls and Dollshe Saints. I purchased a Saint as my first doll, but ended up buying a Soom Amber secondhand while I was waiting for him.

    12. My first BJD was a DIM Torudoll Karon. I haven't been able to bring myself to sell him, even if he is bobbleheaded and far too pale. He's just so beautiful.

    13. I fell in love with them in around 2003...but they were way too expensive. I got an 60cm Obitsu Gretel in 2006 and a little later I got Bobobie Apollo. I've been hooked ever since.

I have always loved and collected dolls. Started when I was about 3. I was the only girl in the family so everyone bought me dolls.

    14. My first doll was a Resinsoul Song. I could say he was an impulse buy since back then, I was desperate for a BJD. Thinking I could just sell the doll if I got bored with it. When he arrived, I fell i love with his serene and versatile sculpt. I especially love his face and elf ears. He's still with me and I would never ever sell him <3

    15. I recently got my first ball jointed doll :) She's a Hujoo Is. Unfortunately she's in abs plastic rather than resin :( But I still love her :aheartbea

    16. I actually considered getting a Pullip MIO Kit while researching doll stuff! It's amazing how quick those kits sell out; I might try to get one eventually if they ever stay in stock long enough.

My first doll I got last month, a Resinsoul Bei. I also got a Hujoo Nano rabi during Junkyspot's Black Friday sale and they both showed up only a few days apart from each other.

    17. My first is was a abs doll but my first resin one is my incoming resinsoul mei. I love the look of her elf ears

    18. The first doll I purchase was Ringdoll Diyue but I ended up buying their Dracula while waiting for my boy to come home. So Dracula was basically my first doll and he was gorgeous but unfortunately I had to sell him. Now I collect mostly Soom dolls and I love them all.

    19. The first dolls I bought were my Bobobie Sprite and Espree (it was one order, so I'm not sure which one was technically first,) but they were in production for quite awhile, so I had purchased a Doll Leaves Fay from the secondary market in the meantime and she was the first BJD actually in my home. I still usually count the Bobobies as "first" because I owned them in a sense once they were paid for even if they weren't finished yet.

    20. My first doll was a DollZone Yuu-2 in tan :whee: He's such an expressive doll, I don't take nearly as many photos of him as I should.
