What you look for in Male dolls

Mar 25, 2016

    1. Right now as I am getting back into the hobby and plan to downsize to 1/4 what I am (desperately) looking for is definitely:
      • Mature doll faces & Body types, especially for male dolls (but not too realistic on the faces or they would look weird next to cuter males and females....)
      • More taller body options / smaller heads proportions (I like how the Model Delf 51 look, same as the new Dikadoll 51 bodies!)
      • Fantasy dolls in the 1/4 size category that have some muscle/bulk (I love the variety there is nowadays in fantasy sculpts, but most of them are really slim and I need a beefy guy too!)
These things seem to be a bit more readily available in the 65+ dolls but I have no space for such big men (and the price point is an issue as well..). So to boil it down, give me the cool fantasy 65+ male sculpts, but scaled down! :mwahaha

    2. I always lean towards androgynous or feminine male dolls, and I always get them with slimmer bodies, I love male dolls and they are really all I’m interested in and I never have wanted a muscular or very masculine male doll :3nodding: the androgynous or effeminate boys are the ones who always steal my heart :love

    3. I’ve been looking at msds, and for me im interested in more mature dolls, but the big thing is I like bodies that have some defined muscles without looking so so dehydrated.

    4. i'm also on the androgynous body train, i don't hate the look of abs but i only have one character that is muscular in any way, and i prefer to make "softer" boy characters. i like hipbone definition as well personally, and a little pec action but nothing crazy muscular. i've been on the hunt for a boy body to fit a character for a while, and these are the main points i come back to to compare between bodies. i have really enjoyed the quite muscular 1/4 boy sculpts that have started to come out lately, but they're definitely something i enjoy from afar hehe

    5. i've been passively looking for a male body for an oc i want to turn into a doll but i find that most of them are... anatomically correct. i do not care for the abs or veins either i find them off putting to me!
i'd also want a softer body nothing carved maybe even with some pudge! but i dont think i could find that unless its commisioned. but i definitely know what i don't like.

    6. My dolls are all supposed to be teenagers, so for male dolls I'm looking for sculpts that are softer and younger looking (but not, like, really baby faced!), with bodies that aren't too muscular or broad. I also don't like them to be too realistic - cuteness over realism definitely!

    7. Little boys are okay if they are Minifees. Otherwise I'm just not into them at all. I prefer more mature sculpts. I tend to like the odd sculpts, the unique sculpts usually over the classically handsome ones.

With one recent exception LLT Roderich all my boys that I've chosen for myself over the years have had very unique faces. Saint, Arsene, Frankenstein's Creature. They're wildly good looking to me but they don't really look like lots of other BJD guys.

Roderich has my heart because faced up darker he can look a LOT like Bucky Barnes/Sebastian Stan my muse and mega crush and even faced up as a blonde that face is just knock you on your behind gorgeous. The ballerino version of that doll? He just breaks my heart looking at him because he's way out of my league money-wise and I'd love to have him. I ever get rich I'm buying that doll!

I guess it's a matter of does the boy doll really capture my heart and imagination in some way? Can I see him fitting in with my bunch? Is he unique enough to make a character out of?

It's not enough to just be handsome. I've got one doll that I was given that still doesn't have a face up several years later because I just don't quite know what to do with him. He's not ugly but he's just very boy next door looking. Nothing really stands out about him. So I'm finding him a bit hard to create with. I suspect that's why he was given to me because his personality is so bland that he's just hard to figure out a look for...
