1. It has come to the attention of forum staff that Dollshe Craft has ceased communications with dealers and customers, has failed to provide promised refunds for the excessive waits, and now has wait times surpassing 5 years in some cases. Forum staff are also concerned as there are claims being put forth that Dollshe plans to close down their doll making company. Due to the instability of the company, the lack of communication, the lack of promised refunds, and the wait times now surpassing 5 years, we strongly urge members to research the current state of this company very carefully and thoroughly before deciding to place an order. For more information please see the Dollshe waiting room. Do not assume this cannot happen to you or that your order will be different.

What's the most interesting place you've taken your doll?

Jun 15, 2019

    1. When I had my original Lestat doll I took him to a halloween viewing of “Interview With The Vampire” at the theater. Something I had longed to do since I began in the hobby :)
Other than that I took one to university once and to some cafés at doll meets.

    2. The most interesting place I've taken my doll to is the Mercer Museum and Fonthill Castle in Doylestown Pennsylvania when I was working in Philadelphia. Here's Reisner in action at the Mercer Museum. [IMG]

    3. I bet Reisner had an enjoyable time. I like the outfit, especially the necklace.

    4. Thanks, Reisner had a wonderful time. The place can be creepy and its even creepier when you see a lady with a doll like that! I remembered the looks on faces of people who passed me. They were curious. It's not the creepiest place I've brought a doll but it's on the top of the creeps list.

Actually, the creepiest place I took Reisner to was the Eastern State Penitentiary in Philadelphia, it's death row building is rumored to be haunted. Reisner's photos turned out all wrong in that visit. I was not able to post any photos. The photos are somewhere but it was not enjoyable. Too creepy. We enjoyed the Mercer Museum.

    5. I liked the Mercer Museum during my visit there. I liked looking at the tiles, especially in the gift shop. I didn't have a travel doll then so it was just me and a friend. I have never been to the State Penitentiary but I have seen documentaries about it. I would definitely not want to go there. It really looks creepy.

    6. @Owl Queen I am so happy to meet someone who has been to the Mercer Museum. Not many people have. I like it because it's different from all the other museums. It's very suitable for Reisner, a pirate. I remember the library best. The tiles around the ceiling and on the walls.

The Eastern State Penitentiary Historical Site was not for me. I still cringe when I think of that place. I took the shortest tour, took very few photos, bought a fridge magnet souvenir and exited. I was especially uneasy with the death row building.

    7. Dear Stargazer_i, I went there many years ago for the Bastille Day Celebration. There was some kind of program on the roof of the building. Later, they threw Twinkies down on everyone to symbolize "let them eat cake." It was fun and strange all at the same time.

    8. Yeah, but measurements don't always capture what the doll and item will actually look like together. Sometimes something technically "should" fit, but just doesn't look right for some reason. For such a major/permanent purchase as a shelf, I think bringing the doll along was a smart choice.

    9. I think the strangest place I've taken a BJD was Glendale Glitters, a celebration held around Christmas in Glendale, Arizona. The town puts up lots of Christmas lights, and tourists go to see them; the local shops stay open late to cater to the tourists. I took one of my 1:12 scale dolls along, and got some pics of her looking at the lights and shopping for Christmas gifts in one of the antique shops.

My first articulated off-topic doll went with me everywhere. I had almost no clothes to fit her, so I took her with me to Goodwill and anywhere I thought might have doll clothes so I could try to figure out if things fit her before buying. She was 20 inches tall (51 cm), so she rode in the front of the cart next to my purse :XD:

    10. The Metropolitan Museum of Fine Art in NYC. I loved to go there before COVID and I’d always take them for some low quality iPhone pics soon I’ll have to take them and bring my Camera

    11. I hadn't thought of taking a doll to a museum, but I love the idea! There's a museum here in Phoenix, Arizona (where I live) that offers free admission every Wednesday night, someday when quarantine is over it could be wonderful to take doll pictures there.
