1. It has come to the attention of forum staff that Dollshe Craft has ceased communications with dealers and customers, has failed to provide promised refunds for the excessive waits, and now has wait times surpassing 5 years in some cases. Forum staff are also concerned as there are claims being put forth that Dollshe plans to close down their doll making company. Due to the instability of the company, the lack of communication, the lack of promised refunds, and the wait times now surpassing 5 years, we strongly urge members to research the current state of this company very carefully and thoroughly before deciding to place an order. For more information please see the Dollshe waiting room. Do not assume this cannot happen to you or that your order will be different.

What's your Danger Company?

Jan 11, 2023

    1. Dream Valley. Dream valley convinced me to buy my first doll. I’ve agonised over multiple of their sculpts. I ordered one of their new naga dolls straight away. I’m not even fond of snakes. I’m waiting for them to release female giraffetaurs in 1/4 and a female version of Achelous’ mer body. Also waiting for them to rerelease the jellyfish girls.

Their sculpting is just so captivating and they keep making fascinating new dolls.

    2. Oh iplehouse is SUPER dangerous. I've had three. None have worked out, and all have moved on, but I keep getting distracted...

(also feel the dream valley itch, my next two will be from them.)

    3. Dream Valley. I refuse to even see their posts on their social media/visit their store since I know I have 95% chance of adoring their new releases.

    4. I don’t actually own a Dream Valley doll (yet), but whenever they release a limited fantasy sculpt I go through a crisis haha. I don’t make enough money to have a lot set aside for my hobbies right now and need time to save up for large non-essential purchases, so limited dolls just aren’t in my budget even with most layaway options. But Dream Valley’s gorgeous sculpts really tempt me to make some poor financial decisions every. single. time.

    5. I just became active in the hobby, but every time I see a second-hand Luts or MYOU doll I feel the urge to open my wallet.

    6. Heh heh heh... Have you discovered Mandarake yet? Dangerous website. Dangerous.

    7. */cough* or Dollyteria. Both have been dangerous for me with my love of Unoas.

    8. I did and it's been terrible for my wallet. I used to use Mandarake a lot when I was more active in collecting figures, but when I realized they sold bjds, too, and had some secondhand MYOU dolls... It's been dangerous lol.

I've browsed Dollyteria but so far I haven't found anything within my current price range that I'm interested in, so it hasn't swayed me yet.

    9. You know I didn't really have a danger company previously, since I always only choose sculpts based on characters I want to shell. But after getting a Lipu/Lapin head secondhand Birdcube tempted me a tad too hard by releasing a Fuguir head for a limited time. I ordered one to shell Curio so I could have a complete hero party for my MythHaven characters. One of those characters, Sally, is a Rap1993 Danni v2 that I'm absolutely in love with! That being said, every time I see those bunny girls I want them... and I don't have pre-existing characters to shell them as! Every time I see them popup on the secondhand market I have to stop myself.

    10. D.Lace. The artist produces micheangelo based and accurate dolls and my wallet is empty.

    11. I don't have a danger company, but I do have a whole danger category: small independent artists.

I happen to like variety of styles and types in my crew, and indie sculptors fit this bill perfectly -- a lot of them sculpt in the size I collect (1/3) and collectively they make so many intriguing faces and aesthetics. New indie heads are always popping up on short preorder periods, and what's worse, there's no guarantee they will re-release the heads or be easy to find secondhand (especially if the sculptor is obscure or not popular). It's easy for me to ignore whole companies and any of their new releases if I don't like their overall "house style"... but I'm always getting blindsided by indie sculptors and have to fight off preorder FOMO. They're all ganging up on me!

    12. Dollshe. I don’t own any because (you know), but whenever I see one pop up on the second hand market my wallet starts to cry and I have to fight myself not to do it. So far i have been successful.

    13. Yes, unfortunately I do know :') if ever you're extra tempted I'm sure I could talk you down if my boy is anything to go by. (Once the mods get to my marketplace thread he'll be one of the first going up.)

Ohhh no that's quite a big category! I'm very lucky to have figured out that ⅓ is too big a scale for me in resin or I'd be in a similar boat. (So many of them are so gorgeous! I still have a tinge of regret regarding a few sculpts that caught my eye when I first got started, even knowing that.)

I wish you luck and patience!

    14. I guess for me would be Volks, despite I only have one YoSD left in my collection.
I have lost completely my interest in Volks... I dunno. Perhaps I relate it to things from my past and also my taste has changed since I'm older.
Definitely, the company that got more money from me. Had an SD Mark, SD Kun, SwD Nana, few YoSD... Eyes, hands, clothes, carrier bag...

    15. Coral Reef, Dream Valley, Dollzone, to some extent..... Dream Valley is definitely the biggest danger to me of the three, however.

I LOVE Doll Chateau's general vibes, every time there's a new DC release I have to remind myself that I hate the wrist/ankle joints on their dolls. That's the only thing that keeps me from blowing money on them, so though it disappoints me a little, it's ultimately helping me to save money.

    16. Erm... probably wouldn't be helpful to mention that they're easy to remove then, eh?

    17. Oh noooo that hadn’t even occurred to me!! That’s going to be a bad piece of information for me as far as my wallet is concerned but it’s good to know! I guess it makes sense, but I’d always been so put off by the joints at first glance that I didn’t stop to think about whether or not they were able to be removed easily because I just assumed the answer was no.

    18. Oh, yeah. I have drooled over the y-body-06, and when someone had one cheap, I snapped it up. First thing I did was remove the extra parts to see how I liked it. It's just a couple extra balls and column joints. You don't even have to restring the doll - just pull off the hand and pull out the extra pieces.

    19. There's one specific user on instagram that yearly does a big sale on clothes, wigs, eyes, and dolls in her collection. I always end up buying a lot from her because the items she sells are very cute, reasonably priced, good quality, and she offers free shipping.

As for companies, it's hard to resist imomo doll right now. I've only ordered one doll from them that hasn't arrived yet, but every time I see a new doll, I always want to order them instantly. The prices are just so good and I love sculpted resin wigs.

    20. *cough cough* worth every penny *cough*
For U.S. collectors (or folks willing to pay shipping from the U.S.), Jane of Jane's Dolland does beautiful, affordable face-ups. Miko's face-up was $40.
