1. It has come to the attention of forum staff that Dollshe Craft has ceased communications with dealers and customers, has failed to provide promised refunds for the excessive waits, and now has wait times surpassing 5 years in some cases. Forum staff are also concerned as there are claims being put forth that Dollshe plans to close down their doll making company. Due to the instability of the company, the lack of communication, the lack of promised refunds, and the wait times now surpassing 5 years, we strongly urge members to research the current state of this company very carefully and thoroughly before deciding to place an order. For more information please see the Dollshe waiting room. Do not assume this cannot happen to you or that your order will be different.

What's your favorite kind of stand?

Sep 21, 2004

    1. Hi ever one

I'm sorry if I post this in the wrong place, as I try very hard to find a place to post this question, and this is the most appropriate place to post.
I'm very new to DOAs, and a newbie to BJDs too(a newbie collector)
I just got my first doll, 2 weeks ago, and I need a quality stands.
Can any one tell me where did you got your doll stands from ??
post me some link for you can

      many many thanks

    2. I have two stands from Reba on Ebay. Her and I believe her husband make very high quality stands that I highly recommend. They now have adjustable stands! =)

You can view her items here.

    3. I really like Volks stands ^_^

    4. I have Volks stands, Reba stands, and the springloaded stands that I forget who made them so if someone else does, please jog my poor old brain!

In general, I like all of them. None are perfect, but they all work, and I use different ones for different outfits.

The one exception is the Volks C stand, or crotch rocket stand. It is noticeably worse made than the Volks A stand, or waist grabber (which is one of the best made stands of all time and worth every penny). The problems I've had have been twofold: first, the vertical piece of the stand does not stay screwed into the metal base plate very well - it loosens itself at every opportunity.

Second, and worse, the stand is vertically adjustable by means of a plastic clip between the two vertical pieces. It holds these pieces where you want them via tension. The plastic pushes against itself and the metal to keep the stand at the height you want it. I don't know if it's our dry climate or a bad stand or what, but the plastic clip broke on my stand - cracked right down the length from the strain of the tension, making the stand useless. (I hope I've explained it well - it's so hard to describe in words what would take 10 seconds if you were all here in person to show you!)

I won't be buying another plastic clip stand again, not when the waist grabber stand is the same price and remarkably sturdier.

      Marcia.

    5. thanks for all you help, I just went and find out this surestand, http://www.surestand.com/
their stand looks very good, but the site don't look very secure, just want to know has anyone buy any stand from them before ?? if so and feedback ??

    6. I just went to a local doll store and bought a stand for about $4. It works really well for the price, though I'll admit it doesn't work very well. It's good for a girl on a budget, though! :daisy

    7. We have four Volks saddle stands, one of the new type with a wooden base and three of the old type with a metal base. Wonderful quality!

I have not experienced the problem purplewiz has with any of our four stands. However it does seem as if that is a known possibility, the Volks stores sell replacements for the plastic clip in question.

    8. I have a doll stand for my Dollfie Dream that I purchased for under $3 at a local Michaels Arts & Crafts. It gets rickety at times but it does a good job of holding my doll for me. The low price is also great because I once lost part of my doll stand at the Tidal Basin in Washington, DC when I was taking photos of my doll among the blooming cherry blossom trees and I couldn't find it so I was able to go back to Michaels to purchase a new one.

Michaels also have wooden doll stands that are sturdier than the plain metal ones but the bad news is that they don't sell the wooden stands for any dolls larger than the 1/6 scale, which is very disappointing. If they ever get wooden doll stands for larger dolls, I would definitely splurge on one because they are nicer looking than the metal ones.

    9. I recently got a Volks saddle stand with a wooden base. So far I LOVE it -- but I do remember seeing that there might be a problem with the plastic clip so I've been very careful. I don't clip it in all the way but it seems to hold just fine!

Before that I was using a regular porcelain doll stand with a waist grip that I got from my doll store, but the problem was that there isn't room for a curvy doll's butt. And it really isn't strong enough for a heavy resin doll. But it worked tolerably well for a few dollars!

When Volks opens in LA I am going to try to get one of the waist grip stands from them, because I don't like the saddle stand for all outifts.

    10. Not to discount you but for my Yo-SD and my Kid Delf (MSD size) both have wooden stands from Michaels. The one in your area must be out.
I don't think they are splurgeing though because I haven't paid more than $5 for either of them.

    11. Yes, her stands are great! I've got several, the quality is excellent wether they're SD stands or MSD stands.

    12. :D Thanks for your opinions in advance.

      Judy

    13. I like Volks stands best - they have a heavy base that doesn't tip, and are adjustable for different heights.

    14. Another vote for the Volks waist grabber stand. Really solid, beautifully made.

      Marcia.

    15. The one with the wood base I got from Michaels works just fine for me >>

    16. Hello everyone

Since I won a Tinatsu on the After Event yesterday I want to order a doll stand for her. I found out that volks currently offer some at their website volks.co.jp. There are different types: saddle stand and waist hold style.

Can you tell me which one looks better holding a doll and which one is more solid?
It would help me a lot. I'd like to order it in the end of the month right after my credit card bill arrived. ;)

      Thank you!!
      Suzu

    17. What kind of doll stand do you use for your SDs and MSDs? Metal? Wood?
Where can I buy stands in San Francisco? SF Bay Area?
      Thank you for your help!:daisy

    18. I have a large waist grabber for my hound, cause i don't trust anything else. most of my other ones are the saddle ones from DM and Luts, I bought a carved wooden one from someone on here, was meant for a MSD and they are a bit tall for it, but it works.
I bought a couple of the sring ones on ebay and one disintregated on me..they are only spring curtain rods..and the msd one I had the metal rod split a little and the spring got caught in it...a waste of money...

    19. wood base, waist grabber. i can get them at my local hobby store. really, though, i don't use stands much- i never leave my dolls standing alone long enough, unless surrounded by pillows (i'm not kidding!) to worry about it.
