What's your favorite kind of stand?

Sep 21, 2004

    1. I have a dollstand, but I normally don't keep my dolls standing for too long. Normally they are sitting on my shelve behind a cover.

And when they DO stand up they stand against the wall for support. :)

    2. I have several stands (mostly from Volks) but I admit I really don't use them.
I like to have the dolls sitted around me everywhere so they really do not stand for long, just the time to take photos, and I hate to see doll stands in the photos >_< so I never use them (I am mastering the hard skill to "have your doll poses in every situation, even standing without a support!" XD )

    3. I use stands for display. I don't have enough for all my dolls, but I keep the stands I have full. I think it adds variety to the display and shows off their outfits better. For type of stand, I go with whatever works better for the outfit. Saddle stands are good for kimono, skirts, dresses, robes, long closed coats etc, because the stand is hidden, and I use the waist stands for everything else, as I think the saddle part stands out too much when it isn't covered. I've had a few different kinds, but now I use the Volks stands, and I'm very happy with them.

    4. I have two large stands, and a smaller one that works for Gaia and Gael. I rotate the big dolls on the stands, one sits on the shelf, and I have a chair for another one. With two more big dolls on the way, I'll probably be buying some more stands. The small one stays in the doll bag for travel only, as all of my small dolls have their own chairs.

      :)

    5. I am going to get stands for my dolls. I like stands since when I'm not fiddling with my doll it can just stand up.

    6. One of the things that initially appealed to me about bjds, was their ability to stand without a "doll stand".

When my first bjd arrived I marveled at her ability to stand without any aide. I would walk by and there she was standing beautifully right where I left her on the table. I love that about bjds!:aheartbea:aheartbea To me it is important that bjds can do this-- it sort of separates them from other dolls.

I have lots of doll stands but I haven't used them for my bjds yet, ---but my dolls are minis, and do not have balance issue like some of the larger bjds might have. By the same turn, I completely understand using doll stands if the dolls are left out and have the slightest inclination to topple over. My dolls have taken nose dives on occasion, :...( and it scares me, but not enough to use doll stands.

If they are out for any length of time I brace them against the wall or some other inanimate object.

    7. I didn't plan on using stands with my kids, but since we had an earthquake last night!:o...................

But realy I have a few chairs and my kids lounge on them when I'm not playing.

    8. My ABJD are sitting in a cabinet or in their box when I'm not around,
one of my cats is clumsy (and not too smart), so leaving the dolls out
all the time would not be good, he would probably chew on it on knock
      it over.
But then I rather not have them stand alone, if they were displayed,
never know when theres going to be an earthquake (I'm in CA), or
sudden attack of kicky leg, so If I displayed them standing a stand
would be used, whether they need it or not.

    9. That is definitely one of their charms - but not a trait I would ever, ever rely on. The Volks SD16 Yuki with full kips system could definitely stand for months - who knows what will happen when the tension in the elastic finally gives out - but even with his rock solid standing, a shake or bump of any kind would topple him. Most of the Dollshe boys cannot stand on their own for any sort of time at all. The msd-sized dolls do seem better able to stand....but even so.....

    10. I don't trust leaving any of my crew standing, even with the support of a stand... My cats don't bother the dolls, but they *do* occasionally like to explore the places where I have my guys displayed. Curious felines are just a lot less likely to accidentally knock someone over if all of the dolls are seated or kneeling.

At meets, I don't even try standing anyone up. The Seattle crew's get-togethers are crowded, tables get bumped constantly and I've seen way too many nose-dives (even with stands-) to risk it.

    11. Pride hardly even stands..and if he does it's a short amount of time for a photo, he usually just sits on his couch. Haha

    12. I use stands with any of my dolls that I display standing, mainly MSD & tinies. There's not enough room in the cabinets to keep the big kids upright so they all sit on various sofas & chairs. When I go to club I always take stands & when taking photos I try to avoid them but often end up leaning the doll against something. I just don't trust them standing on their own for any length of time.

    13. I just bought a doll stand from Michael's, and am currently using it with Yuki (who's probably the worst about standing up on his own x_X). I've had him up for almost a week now, and he's standing just fine. Of course, I have him someplace where animals won't disturb him, and it doesn't get bumped into very often, if ever. Plus he's very close to Akemi-chan, who's sitting in a chair, so she's kinda like added support...

I must say, it's very nice to see him standing ^^ He'd been stashed away in his box for so long, I was starting to worry about him. But he looks adorable next to Akemi-chan <3

      I should mention, Yuki's MSD-sized. I'm thinking of getting a few more stands for Franz and Azu (also MSD-sized), but I'd prefer to have my larger boys sitting somehow, either in a chair or otherwise... Just more peace of mind that way ^^;;

    14. My dolls have a designated shelf just for them, however since I got silas (DZ Yuu2), he's too large to fit there. (his head bumps into the shelf above! ToT)
So I got him a stand and he gets the desk all to himself... sorta... he does share the desktop with my beta fish. ^_^
But I think stands are great!

    15. I don't use doll stands. Naomi stands fine on her own for pictures I take. I am not going to let her stand on her own with me there to catch he, though. I am sure she would take a tumble. She sits when I'm not around, or lays. It varies.

    16. Emily got a doll stand today. She stands so lovely with support, since she is strung so tight she cant stand properly without me struggling with her kicky legs... And she seems to like it too. Makes her look taller. :XD:

    17. i have not kept my dolls out yet but eventually i would like to keep them on a shelf or in a cabinet. i would like to get stands for them just for extra security. anyone know of some nice doll stands? i have mostly tinies but i have one msd and im getting a soom beryl eventually so would like to think about some nice stands for them.

    18. hiya,

does anyone know where I can buy doll stands from ? im looking to try and find stands for pullip dolls and maybe some bigger ones too.

      many thanks

    19. Ebay has several vendors. They aren't usually on sale all the time, because some are handmade, with nice wooden bases, for BJDs.

For pulips, there are white metal-based stands. Try Mimi's World and Natalie's House on ebay. They're both in Hong Kong, I think, but have great stuff.

    20. I'm wondering if I can trust doll stands.
I use metal stands with waist grip (from Dollmore) for my dolls at the moment, but they seem so fragile... Or am I just paranoid? They stand on my desk, noone can get really close to touch them unintentional. But still I'm afraid they could fall.
Has anyone had an accident with your doll stands? Or what is your opinion on those metal stands? I would prefer wooden stands, but the base is so thick, and I always like to have my boys very close together, which I cannot do with thicker basements I'm afraid.
