Forum staff are also concerned as there are claims being put forth that Dollshe plans to close down their doll making company. Due to the instability of the company, the lack of communication, the lack of promised refunds, and the wait times now surpassing 5 years, we strongly urge members to research the current state of this company very carefully and thoroughly before deciding to place an order. What's your favorite kind of stand?

Sep 21, 2004

    1. I have one of Reba's "couples" stands, but don't use it often. Most of the time, my dolls sit around in the part of my house which is theirs. Yes. They have a sort of alcove where they live, with furniture and props all set up.

~Bruce, who wishes their alcove didn't _have_ to be upstairs where the cats are not allowed, just to avoid the dolls being knocked down and peed on - not necessarily in that order.

    2. I didn't use stands until about a week ago. Normally I hate the look of stands but being able to have my girl standing at all times and showing off those great legs are enough reason for me to keep her on the stand. I would never leave her standing by herself unattended but she can only sit a certain way and I was getting tired of it. Now she can stand in different poses and I just loovvveee looking at her all the time now.

    3. Narp, I don't use stands. I've only got one and she's small enough to fit on my nightstand so she just sits there all the time ^^ I never leave her standing(okay so I have. She was fine) more than a couple minutes but if I got a pissy doll that didn't like standing or sitting still I might invest in a stand

    4. I have a dollmore saddle stand, but just be careful. The 'saddle' is kind of wide which can make it awkward depending on the hip piece of your doll. It is a really lovely stand, but I am looking into investing in a Cool-cat stand.

    5. The way I display my dolls is this: If they can't stand, they sit. xD Otherwise, my two Dollzone boys (hands down the best posers I have) and my DOC T. Too have been standing on their own for over a year with no problems.

Aya stood for about 6 hours once, and then faceplanted. He fell like 2 feet and I thought I was going to DIE - But he was unscathed. I don't like the look of stands though so I just let 'em sit.

    6. Agreed, the Dollmore adjustable height (white saddle with wooden base) saddle stand's saddle is a bit wide and sometimes I did not screw the stand tight enough and so it falls but fortunately, my new boy stands well with or without doll stand. Now, I know to be careful and screw the stand a bit tighter. I like the adjustable (bendable) saddle though. I got a big fright the other day when one of my doll's black leather pants "stuck" onto the saddle, I was horrified thinking that this might damage the pants which is his original pants and extremely hard to replace. I took him off the stand and nothing is damaged. Now, I'm careful. I'm trying to stick to using waist stands instead of the saddle. Saddle has it's advantages.

I always try to use doll stands for all my dolls (both BJDs and non BJDs) when they are displayed even if they can stand very well on their own. This is the first time I'm trying the saddle type stand. I usually use waist stands.

    7. I don't have any place to really display them standing. So I leave them sitting on a table next to my bed for right now. Whenever I have them standing, it's just for a few seconds to take a picture.

Though I know I'll be using them for references when it comes to drawing folds on clothing for my comic, so I probably should get some stands to use.

    8. I am still thinking of getting stands or furniture for my dolls, it could go eather way.

    9. I have two minifees and they just recently got their stands. When I had just one he often sat on a table avoiding sunlight :)
My incoming DD girl I don't really know what I will do with her, cos have no stand for her yet. But that will come soon too I guess ^^ I have really come to like stands :D They do help a lot to show off the dolls ^^

    10. At this moment, I have enough space for my dolls to sit, but no place to let them stand.
I have 1 dollstand now which I only use when I am making clothes for my dolls.

In the future, when I have my own home, I want my dolls to be on a large table. Some will get chairs and the others will get dollstands to stand there.

    11. Ok. So I never have used stand in the past and all my dolls stand like statues. I own four Volks SD16 Girls. They are currently on a shelf in my closet that is about 5ft off the ground. I have never had any problems until the other day. My SD16 Madoka took a header off the shelf and broke every finger off of her right hand. Needless to say I will be investing in some Volks stand to prevent that from ever happening again. I am a recent stand-convert!

    12. Double Post. Please Delete.

    13. I would like to have some stands for my dolls but due to lack of space caused by my room being redone and having no furniture to set my dolls on. they have been exiled to the living room.:...(

    14. For general display and aroudn the house, no we don't use any stands. I want to get some though for use in photography and to help my wife when she dresses them.

    15. I don't have any stands yet and my dolls have chairs right now but I do want to get some straddle stands, my Dollstown girl (on older, out of production body) has VERY BAD knees! So although I can get her to pose and stand on her own, she really would prefer not to. I tried the hot glue sueding but that just made her worse not better.

So here is a link for some inexpensive straddle stands:
      JuJu

      CR's Crafts

The ones from Cool Cat and Volks are NICE!!! If it's feasible for you.

    16. That sounds just like the Dollmore saddle stand - I know several doll companies market them. I have several friends who have this type of stand, and it is useless! The screw supposed to hold the metal rod thing up simply doesn't work!

    17. no stand for me, he just sits on the edge of my desk :)

I can understand wanting them standing for their outfits though, so a stand might be a great idea for you :) I don't know what to suggest for stands, however :(

    18. For a long time I never did stands, but at conventions and meet ups when I want my dolls to stand on shoes that are odd soled or wearing extremly heavy outfits (aka the Dollheart Fers) a stand is the only way for me to be 100% sure they will not fall. I've found waist stands super super cheap at JoAnn Fabrics, but I got what I paid for. Right now I haven't wanted to invest in the Volks stands, but I think I'm gonna due to the quality.

    19. I REALLY want to get some dollie stands, but the good ones are over $50 and I can't really afford three of them right now... ^^;

    20. I can't afford to get a stand right now for my DOI, and even if I did, I wouldn't feel comfortable using it. I have an east-facing window in my room that lets in a LOT of light in the mornings, and there is no shadowed place in my room. He stays on my bed night and day, covered by a fleece blanket, when I'm not playing with him.
