What's your favorite kind of stand?

Sep 21, 2004

    1. That is the same stand I have. as for screw not working - for me it works, I just have to be very diligent not to accidentally rotating the rod once the height is set. if I do, it immediately falls. Temperance has taken several falls that way while adjusting her posture once on the saddle. between that and the wide saddle, I'm wishing I had not gotten it. But it is a lovely stand, and Temperance looks great on it in her lovely dresses, but as for functionality - if you can get it set and leave the doll there for a long period of time, it is not the worst deal, but if you interact with your doll frequently and see yourself setting up and removing the doll from the stand frequently, then don't get it, buy a different brand.

    2. When I'm taking for sale photos I always use stands. I don't need a perfectly good doll to fall over just when I'm getting ready to sell it. Also my cats think the light tent is their own personal cave & I also don't need then knocking over one the dolls.

With other photos, smetimes I do & sometimes not. It depends if I can hide the stand. And as for displays, most of my dolls are sitting due to room issue but if I had the space to stand them, I would definitely use some kind of support.

    3. I would possibly never use stands. My doll sits on the sofa I made for him. There is a very little chance to fall from the sofa :) Also I can put him in some sexy pose when he sits.
And he stays perfectly during photosessions so that's not an issue.

    4. I have one doll stand... and it sits in my closet untouched. I dont like the idea of using a doll stand to display my doll. I bought them so that I could take pictures of them and bring them places. The idea of a doll stand to me represents that my dolls are expensive untouchables. In a sense they are but in a sense they are MY dolls and there MY playthings and their MINE. When there not traveling around with me they sit on my bed or on a shelf in room or on my cd player.

    5. I haven't got any stands yet, but am thinking about getting a few so I can feel better about letting them go and taking pictures of them... As it stands, I worry about them toppling over and getting dinged, and as such, I've been afraid to take pictures of them, despite really wanting to... Still... I also have a ton of other stuff I want to get for them, so it's been an interesting case of trying to decide what to get first...

    6. i have a stand thats in my storage room i was using before, but right now i just have them sitting down since they cant stand in the area they use to be able to... i want to build a shelf or something that they can be in so they can sit..stand ...lay down etc...

stands are good since that way the dolls are less likely to fall... but.. sometimes..are annoying haha.

    7. No stands here. I've never really seen the point in them. If I want my dolls to stand for some reason, photos or whatever, they can do so just fine on their own. All our boys sit on couches or the desks, or the book shelves etc etc etc. I can't think of any reason I would want to leave them standing for long periods of time. I guess it's kind of a stigma I've got about wanting them to be comfortable. I have to stand on my feet all night at work, I know how uncomfortable it can get! I wouldn't want to make my poor dolls do it too. XD; But mostly I just don't like the aesthetic of stands, a big pole/saddle/whathaveyou shoved up between their legs just isn't very attractive to me. :sweat I prefer them to look more relaxed and natural.

    8. Yes, I always use a stand. It is so much easier.

    9. I have a couple of sturdy stands, but never remember where they're stored when I could use one. Like in a photoshoot with a group of standing dolls (I know where the weak ankles are!). But then I'd have to start removing them for far shots, etc., or else just have more stuff to digitally clone out of the picture(s).

Storage-wise, my troupe either spend time horizontally in their boxes, or sitting on my bed or on one of their chairs. And anyway, I've found the bigger and heavier the doll, the more likely they are to pivot on the stand saddle anyway unless you get the height and positioning just right.

    10. nope. my dolls can stand by themselves

for me i think a bjd with a stand is kinda wierd -*- i dunno why

i think i prefer a bjd without a stand.either lean them on the wall or let them sit...

    11. I would love to have my doll stand without one (a stand) -- but she -- despite tightening -- no luck. I'm not sure I want to suede joints, so yeah I'm going to get a stand for sure. I'm a noob and I do have to say I was disappointed when my first doll arrived and she was so floppy. Then, I bought a BBB Lan -- pretty inexpensive doll -- and bam! she stands right out of the box! go figure -- who would have guessed?

    12. Both of my dolls can stand without them, but there tends to be earthquakes where I live.
So just to be safe I do use doll stands. Though to be honest I rarely have them on display... I'm usually carting them around.

    13. 8V I always put my doll back in his box when I'm not playing with him. I'm really concerned about yellowing etc because im a paranoid freak 8D Currently, I don't have a doll stand. It's hard to test the reliability and choose the right one too 8V

Judas is a bit snappy, but he's still new and I've yet to gather the courage to take him apart and restring+hot glue suede him 8d So I always leave him sitting in a solid sitting position if I need to take my eyes off of him, even for a minute. I think a stand would be nice though. But then I'd be afraid of him gathering dust, haha.

    14. My dolls don't really need them when I'm not playing with them. They stand just fine with a little work. Usually I just have them sit down, but sometimes there won't be room so some of them stand(always close to the wall and behind the sitting dolls so that they won't fall to the floor if an earthquake shakes them).

    15. I don't have any stands but I think it's a practical way to prevent dolls from falling x3

Currently, I sit my 2 boys in my side bedtable ... it's true that clothes can wrinkle (that's why I try to dress them with non-wrinkable ones xD) ... but they look gorgeous and are near me all the time ... besides I carry them a lot so a stand would be just a fancy tool in my case ...

    16. I don't have any stands - my boys aren't ever on display, as such, when I'm not playing with them. So far they've been hanging out on my sofa, or sitting on the dresser where their things are, when I'm not actively playing with them. I think I'd only get a stand if one of my boys got a really expensive outfit I didn't want to get crumpled and I wanted him to wear for a while.

    17. I don't own any doll stands either. They just sit on a safe place on my dresser.
Those stands look uncomfortable anyway @_@

    18. I don't use stands because their room is too small and the big boys can't stand up in there. So they're just lounging around on the sofa...

But I intend to get some stands to use when I'll have more space. And they'll come in handy on display tables at Cons, too :)

    19. No stands. Standing room only, here. ;) Everyone stands. All the time. :)
The cat instinctively knows to not go near the dolls. She has no real interest in them.

    20. I have one but only have needed it a few times. :)
