1. It has come to the attention of forum staff that Dollshe Craft has ceased communications with dealers and customers, has failed to provide promised refunds for the excessive waits, and now has wait times surpassing 5 years in some cases. Forum staff are also concerned as there are claims being put forth that Dollshe plans to close down their doll making company. Due to the instability of the company, the lack of communication, the lack of promised refunds, and the wait times now surpassing 5 years, we strongly urge members to research the current state of this company very carefully and thoroughly before deciding to place an order. For more information please see the Dollshe waiting room. Do not assume this cannot happen to you or that your order will be different.

whats your ideal number of dolls

May 25, 2019

    1. An ideal number? That's a hard question! I think for me it would be anywhere from 4 (which is how many I have now) to 6 or 8 depending on what comes onto the marketplace/released/standard that I fall in love with. But I think for now I will stop at 6 or 8. Seems like a good number and that way I wont be overwhelmed and be able to enjoy the collection I have.

As of right now I am only purchasing those who are on my grail list or ones that I desperately need to have. If they are on my grail list I will buy in an instant (depending on money etc) but the ones that are not I tend to sit on them for a couple months before buying so that I know I really want them.

    2. My ideal number of dolls depends entirely on... How many I end up obsessing over, I guess. I just get really intense over one specific doll and I *need* to have it in my house.. So as long as that happens, I'll keep buying dolls! However, right now I only have two, and I'm reaally in love with my MSD, so he's getting all of my attention ^_^). But I'm pretty picky, so my collection might be really small for a long time.

    3. I can't set a hard limit.
Including those incoming and incomplete I have 14 bjds and it feels like more than enough to manage right now. But projects do eventually get finished, and there's always a good chance there will be some dolls that I can't resist adding to the family in the coming years.
I'm not planning on purging any of my dolls again.... been there, done that, got the t-shirt, MEH! :frownyblush: My collection is destined to only increase.

But if we are just thinking in ideals, 24 feels like a happy number. At 14, my collection represents almost all of my interests in the bjd world. Fill in the remaining holes, make a couple sets of twins or triplets, and leave some buffer for dolls I never knew I wanted til I saw them :thumbup

    4. Hm... I'm not sure. I currently own two dolls and I have two I'm waiting for. Maybe between 4 and 8? I couldn't imagine owning 10 or more dolls. I just wouldn't know where to store them.

    5. I'm also not sure if I have an ideal number, but I'd say I'm happy with 3 for now, but I think I have enough bandwidth and finances for up to 5. :3nodding:

    6. Once upon a time I said that 10 was my limit...that ship sailed a long time ago and I have 30-something dolls now. I'm not even going to pick a number because I'll just go over it, but I feel like I'm in a good spot right now. they take up the amount of space I have set aside for them without spilling into other areas of the house, so I'm good where I am.

    7. When I started the hobby I set my limit to 10 dolls but now that I'm currently approaching 5 dolls and saving for 3 others, I doubt I'll be able to stick with it. I have bad fomo when it comes to unique and expressive head sculpts.

    8. My ideal number is an actual number but I guess how many I can ideally find in a certain space. One day, I'd like to get a detolf just dedicated to dolls, and what I can fit in it would be my ideal number.

    9. The moment I start self hating that I don’t pay enough attention to my older dolls is when I’ll know I have enough/too many.

If you’re gonna get it, keep up with it like my grandma used to say lol
