1. It has come to the attention of forum staff that Dollshe Craft has ceased communications with dealers and customers, has failed to provide promised refunds for the excessive waits, and now has wait times surpassing 5 years in some cases. Forum staff are also concerned as there are claims being put forth that Dollshe plans to close down their doll making company. Due to the instability of the company, the lack of communication, the lack of promised refunds, and the wait times now surpassing 5 years, we strongly urge members to research the current state of this company very carefully and thoroughly before deciding to place an order. For more information please see the Dollshe waiting room. Do not assume this cannot happen to you or that your order will be different.

Where do you keep your BJDs' boxes?

Nov 1, 2004

    1. No, it's the doll that's importan to me! Out of four dolls my wife and I have, only one has come in a box, and it wasn't for that doll. The first one was even ordered from the company, but he was a kit, so he arrived in a cardboard box with no frills. We love all of them, won't sell any of them and keep them out and in sight all the time, so why would we need the boxes?

    2. I have all my crews boxes, but that wouldn't stop me buying a doll without it's original box. To be honest, the only reason I kept the boxes I have was because it seemed the safest way to keep them out of harms way while I have workmen traipsing about abusing my house!

    3. I just don't have space for boxes, but I have to save them because they will be essential if/when I move. People always say to save space by using the boxes for storage, but since they're full already with pillows, certificates, etc, I have never figured out quite how that works. The boxes are actually a real problem for me because they cut into my living space significantly, adding a clutter that just never goes away. I live in an 8' x 10' apartment with minimal closet space; I sleep on a futon and don't even have room for a bed or more than one chair. The doll boxes are sort of like Tetris pieces, ready to pile to the ceiling if I'm not very careful.

    4. Last year when I started buying and buying, I had at one time 15 boxes in my bedroom...I just don't have the space for that many boxes...so when I decided to sell some, I started using the boxes..sometimes using the original box to house the doll and another dolls box to double box it.
Now I only have a few boxes here, not many because I am happy with who I have and don't plan on selling them..so I don't keep the boxes...I do keep the cushions though..because you never know if they will come in handy for taking them to a meetup, moving {which I don't plan to do very soon but you never know} or um selling somebody...

the ones I have sold I told the people whether or not I had the boxes and mostly got no response one way or the other....personally the box is just a shipping item..

    5. I would never buy a doll without the box. Not only because of safety but also because the price of the doll INCLUDES the box.
I like the boxes and I do save them. Just-for-in-case.

    6. For me, they're not important. I only use them to store dollclothes in and sometimes the dolls, but I can imagine that a real collector might put some value at getting the originalbox.

    7. I totally prefer to have the box. One of my boys doesn't have a box because he came as an unfinished kit, but other than that...

    8. Boxes means very little. They are handy for storage when you can't be there for a long amount of time and they can't come with you, but.. I like having my dolls on display to look at and I don't worry about selling them. I have kept all my boxes, sometimes even the outer shipping box itself, in my closet all neatly packed. I have the room to, so why not? Besides, i've found that when you need a spare chair or something, you can quickly whip up something from the very packing your doll came in!

    9. I agree with this. I always keep the boxes I get because I keep my dolls in them to protect them from the sun and from getting dusty, I usually pick the biggest ones a put 2 dolls in one box (my MNF El and my DZ Megi share the DZ box because its bigger than the MNF box). The other unused boxes are stored on top of my wardrobe. I would buy a doll if it didn't have the box because they usually end up sharing a box anyway but I wouldn't pay as much as I would for a doll in a box. I suppose thats a left over from my Vintage Barbie collecting days :sweat

    10. I would buy a doll without its original box, but I'd be curious how it would be shipped.

That being said, I've kept all the boxes my dolls have come in. They aren't used for storage of doll stuff and my dolls are out all the time. They were rather handy when I moved though, and you never know around here when you might have to do that (*cough*Hurricanes*cough*). :doh But if I were one of the folks around here that had a ton of dolls, I'm not sure I'd keep all of the boxes, just some of them.

    11. Hmmm... I'm positively sure I just answered, but I guess my post was lost when the threads were merged? Here it goes again then.

Don't care one bit about boxed. I would prefer if all doll companies shipped in carriers instead anyway (like Dollshe and DOC). And I wouldn't hesitate to buy a doll without a box (even unstrung if it would save on shipping and make the shipping box smaller and less attractive to customs). Would have to be packed well though.

But because the majority seem to care about boxes, I do store mine, packed in plastic in garage (in case I will ever need to sell any of my dolls - hope not!). If it wasn't for that, I'd toss them long time ago.

    12. I have a collection of dolls, but I don't think of myself as a collector. I play with all my ABJ dolls; move them around, pose them, change their clothes, etc. That being said, none of them are what I would call mint in box condition, so I don't feel the need to keep the box. I have never bought an ABJ doll that I intended to re-sell or merely display. I kept all the boxes in the beginning, but after a while I tossed them because they took up so much space in my small house. I still have the boxes for the tinies because they are easily stored and useful, but the only big box I have is a big wooden Tensiya box that came with my Dollshe guy. It's bulky but kind of nice. I imagine that in the far away future (I hope), when my family is auctioning off my belongings after I'm gone, they will wish I'd saved those boxes, but that is their problem.

    13. I've kept mine for DZ Demi. It's currently her bed until I can buy her a nicer one. While the lid is serving as storage for her clothes/wigs Although it won't hold them all ^^; hehe.

    14. I keep mine
I actually started crying when my dad was going to get rid off it:sweat

    15. Bed, for sure. X3

    16. I use it at a bed box I put her in there at night or if there are loads of people in my room I lay her in there for safety to stop her getting sat on.
I keep it in front of my cupboard which doesn't help when I need to access the draws lol but I need somewhere safe to keep her form time to time.

    17. I put Faeli in her box when I'm not playing with her.... I'm too scared of letting the sun on her. The box sits on my bed (a double), and my Build-a-Bear Workshop Hello Kitty sits on top of that! :D

    18. i would probably just keep mine as a bed...or just for the sake of it >.>

    19. Heh,the boxes the dolls came in are used as their beds.Party for safety reason, because I dont want to leave them openly available for my cats to maim during the night! (Accidents can happen). So the poor guys have to sleep in coffin like beds. :sweat With the lid on of course.

      Off topic (sorry,but cant resist):
Lyra-daemon: You have a build a bear workshop hello kitty too! Mine looks after the other soft toys.

    20. I threw them out! >=D I already have a drawer for all their clothes and shelves for them to be idle on. I don't keep anything that I don't have to, it just takes up too much space that I don't have! If I ever moved, carrier bags in the backseat would be good enough. They would never wind up in a moving van! (the horror) *_*
