It has come to the attention of forum staff that Dollshe Craft has ceased communications with dealers and customers, has failed to provide promised refunds for the excessive waits, and now has wait times surpassing 5 years in some cases. Forum staff are also concerned as there are claims being put forth that Dollshe plans to close down their doll making company. Due to the instability of the company, the lack of communication, the lack of promised refunds, and the wait times now surpassing 5 years, we strongly urge members to research the current state of this company very carefully and thoroughly before deciding to place an order. For more information please see the Dollshe waiting room. Do not assume this cannot happen to you or that your order will be different.

Where do you keep your BJDs' boxes?

Nov 1, 2004

    1. So far I have kept all of the boxes. Don't really have the room but it's so difficult to find boxes for the larger BJD dolls. I am too afraid to remove the doll's heads so I use them to ship my dolls for faceups. But since I'm getting blushing, manicure/pedicure done also it has worked out for me.

I just must learn how to remove their heads. Only my new Luts Lishe has a head I know how to remove.

So in my approximately 20 years of doll collecting I have also collected boxes. At least with these dolls it's not like with the darned Bar*** dolls where you even have to have perfect boxes to sell them.

    2. I have 2 massive boxes! A Delf Art wood box and a Lati Redline box (both huge!)
I have one on my dining table and one on the floor XD I should really store them somewhere *_*

    3. The box is his bed until I can buy him a real one. I did it up as nicely as I could, pillows, blankets, tiny stuffed animals... I put him to bed every night, so that's nice...
      ^^

    4. I normally keep all sort of dolly stuff in them, mostly fabrics. I never keep my dolls in their boxes, so basically I could live without them.

    5. I leave them around so my mom can trip over them. :mwahaha

      Just kidding. :sweat

I use them either as dollie beds, or for storing my dollitems - the Latidoll box for their Reds is remarkably sturdy and comes line with lots of soft foam, so I can use it as a bed. xD

    6. Mine is on the floor under piles of stuff X( I do store some clothes in there, but I actually keep it around so that if I go away for a few days or whatever I can keep him in there... one of my cats figured out how to get into my room soooo my poor doll might get knocked over or something if I'm not there ;3; I'd keep him in his box if it was more attractive, though. I thought I might make him a coffin with a beautiful lining... hahahah... XD

    7. I have no BJDs yet, but I have other dolls or anime action figures I have collected I have kept the boxes for 90% of them since my family seems to move every few years no matter what and I want to be able to put them in a safe place that fits them. If I've thrown the box out for a particular doll (like my Tuxedo Mask american doll) I used a bulk ritz box that he can sit in when I have to store him and I've also used popcorn boxes from Sam's Club and shoes boxes (one good thing about big feet you get big shoe boxes >.<; ). I used to throw boxes out all the time, until I got to college and figured the box it came in was the best protection (especially when it came to the PS2 and I kept the box and packaging material, got past airline security way faster).

My BJD boxes will most likely store the pillows, outfits and the such not being used, and just keep them in a bigger box if I ever have to move or the dolls have to stored (IE babysitting small children, out of town and wary of cat trying to see if resin is "yummy" or not).

    8. I actually took the front panel and mounted it on my wall. My Dad and I do that with good packages. :3 (I use an american gril box for toting Chrno around. xD)

    9. I use them for storing non-doll stuff - a mini box with pillows in it is perfect for storing my taishougoto. The dolls themselves never return to the boxes. They live on the sofa.

    10. I used them to store clothings in one & shoes in other & wigs in another.
But there are those really fragile ones (DZ box/Obitsu box) i just store them stacked up on the closet.

    11. The inner, manufacturer's boxes? Or the outer shipping boxes?

And the pillows - the pillows are breeding in the closet like satin caterpillars!

And from buying doll accessories, clothes, etc.: bubble wrap! Foam peanuts! Tissue paper! Well, ok, the tissue paper gets chucked. But everything else falls prey to that "I might be able to use this one day--" impulse.

    12. I would keep the box. Mostly for moving and storage. I think I'd be too attached to ever throw it away XD

    13. I keep all my boxes - just in case I move. It would be easier to pack them in their own box than try to pack them all in one large box. I don't think they would get damaged if they're in their own box and pillows.

    14. I keep the box and store it in my closet. ;)

Never know if you have to move.. Or sell, for that matter.

    15. I have mine in storage. Through my mom wanted to throw it away because it smells bad,but she keeps all her pink doll boxes so it's only fair that I get to keep mine.

    16. I keep all my boxes. They are perfect for storing by BJD when I'm not playing with them (and now I feel weird for putting them back in the box everytime I'm finished xD).

    17. Garage, up in the rafters. I've got enough boxes in my room, and for six dolls...? Egh.

    18. Forgive me if there is another thread on this, I couldn't find one so thought I'd ask here.

Do people keep their bjds original boxes?

And if you were buying a bjd second hand, would you feel it necessary to have the original box or would you be quite happy to receive your doll in a non-descript sturdy box, as long as it was safely packed?

Although at this moment in time I've no intention of selling any of my resin kids, I have been keeping their boxes. However they take up so much room and are not particularly attractive, or useful as I don't put my dolls back into them once they are here anyway.

I'd be interested in other peoples views on this please.

      Thanks in advance.

    19. My girl sleeps in hers on my bed.

    20. My house (built in 1947) is small and doesn't have enough storage space to store SD size doll boxes. I currently have 8 SD sized dolls and the only boxes I still have are the one my Soah came in (I have wrapping paper stored in it) and a big wooden one that my Dollshe came in. The wooden one is standing on its end, has even more wrapping paper stored in it and a big rabbit doll is sitting on it. When I first started collecting I kept every box, but not any more. On the rare occasion that I sell a doll, I buy a shipping box at the Container Store. I like to display my dolls and play with them so the idea of keeping them in their boxes is out of the question for me.
