1. It has come to the attention of forum staff that Dollshe Craft has ceased communications with dealers and customers, has failed to provide promised refunds for the excessive waits, and now has wait times surpassing 5 years in some cases. Forum staff are also concerned as there are claims being put forth that Dollshe plans to close down their doll making company. Due to the instability of the company, the lack of communication, the lack of promised refunds, and the wait times now surpassing 5 years, we strongly urge members to research the current state of this company very carefully and thoroughly before deciding to place an order. For more information please see the Dollshe waiting room. Do not assume this cannot happen to you or that your order will be different.

Where do you keep your BJDs' boxes?

Nov 1, 2004

    1. when i first got dolls, I used my boxes to hold their clothes. but now we need to upgrade to a rolling sterilite dresser. I still feel compelled to keep the boxes so that maybe, if someone has to be rehomed, I can send them in their original box, or at least in a nice one.

    2. I would probably keep them in the garage (in a special box). However, I don't know if this is like any other hobby, though, where keeping the box ups the value.

    3. The last box I got has been shoved in the garage where we keep boxes for whatever use we may need them for. Every so often I open it up again and steal some of the bubble wrap that was used to wrap up my AoD boy's body, since I keep all of that in there too.
My first box though has been put to use. I used it to help pack some of my stuff when I moved out of my dorm room for the summer xD Its up in storage in NJ.
I have a couple heads I bought second hand, so they didn't come in any original packaging.
I did order a body in a split though, so if that comes in the original box, it will also be put to the same use my first Dollmore box did- shoved in the closet and then used to store my own stuff when its time to move out again.
      Yay boxes :3

    4. I've sold quite a few dolls and only twice have I been asked if i have the original box. So far i've found people are more likely to ask for paperwork than original boxes, but i think people generally prefer to have boxes when buying second-hand, especially if they don't have a big doll collection or buy/sell regularly.

    5. I keep all of my doll boxes on the top shelf of my office closet, away from kitty and doggy peril.

    6. I keep mine so far. They're quite useful for storing wigs and other stuff. Though for more frequently used items I use other boxes since Narae boxes are seriously difficult to pry open

    7. I still have all my boxes. I think they look nice, and it adds a nice touch if I decide to sell any of them. All the boxes are in the basement next to the bodies other, regular boxes.

    8. I'm not sure I still have all of mine, but I know I have a lot in the loft....

    9. I like to keep all my doll boxes in the closet of my office... I don't know why but I really like having the boxes if I have the doll.

    10. i only have one box (only one doll) so far and its on the top shelf in my closet. it stays nice in there and doesnt get in the way so i think its a great spot. i have another doll coming in and when i get that box ill just stack it on top of this one.

i want to hang on to all the boxes.

    11. *laughs* I found out a few months ago that I had no more room for the dolls!
But then I realized if I just tossed the boxes.... and voila! Much more room!

    12. I've only gotten rid of one box so far, but I don't have a lot of boxes to begin with.

My El's box got recycled a while ago because our apartment was too small to keep it.
My DOC came in a carrier, not a box, and came in a split set, so I gave the carrier to the person who paid for the dolls.
My DIM boy body was bought second hand and came to me in a Soom box, which I've kept in case I need to ship a doll anywhere, since it has the best padding.
My Abio Angel was bought second hand and came in a non-doll box.
My Littlefee, Pipos and Dollfactory dolls all have small boxes, so I've kept those because I love pretty boxes.
And my Delf girl body's box is acting as a riser on a shelf so the second row of ufo catchers on the shelf can be seen. It's a pretty yellow color, too, so I like the way it looks.

    13. I have kept some of the boxes, but not all of them. I do have my dolls out (in a basement room, so no direct light) so don't keep them stored in boxes, except for a couple that I have not given face-ups yet. I have doll-carriers - one that fits each size doll I have, so that is not a problem. I basically keep the nice boxes and toss the not so nice. I used to put clothes and wigs and things in them, but I graduated up to little trunks and things that I get at Ross and similar stores, which look better with my furnishings. Boxes in my closet? Ha! That is for MY clothes and accessories. As much as I love them for my dolls, I love them for me even more!! And dolly mommy comes first!

    14. I like to keep the boxes when I can. I find them useful for storage when I want to temporarily pack my dolls out of the way. Only if the boxes are nice-looking and sturdy, though, like DIM -- the Angell Studio box my Gus came in was kind of flimsy, so I didn't bother keeping it.

    15. Even though I'd like to just pitch them all, I store them since it seems most folks want the box when you sell a doll. Generally I don't keep the shippers which I'm finding is a big mistake as it's near impossible to find boxes large enough to ship boxed dolls in. Unfortunately, I'm out of closet space so boxes are being relegated to the basement & they end up smelling musty.

I blame all this box problem directly on the collectors of vintage dolls. Their boxes actually add to their value as those were children's toys & because kids didn't keep their toys unplayed with there's a scarcity of pristine, MIB dolls. With these & other collector dolls, the boxes mean nothing & won't add value as most collectors keep them anyway. I simply want to collect dolls not boxes.

    16. I ususally throw out the boxes and the pillows. I do keep a large SD box around to keep doll clothes in, and recently dug up a few that I threw in the basement and stuck some books in it to store them.

    17. I pitch em. Too much stuff is bad for me.

    18. All the boxes are under my bed...but I'm sure I'll run out of room under there very soon!

    19. Same here... but I only have one so far! :sweat

    20. I always save the boxes. There have been a couple times when I got a doll I wasn't happy with how she or he was fitting in and wanted to find a better home for the doll. I have a doll room and keep the boxes stacked in the closets. It hasn't been a problem because I only have owned 8 dolls so far.
