1. It has come to the attention of forum staff that Dollshe Craft has ceased communications with dealers and customers, has failed to provide promised refunds for the excessive waits, and now has wait times surpassing 5 years in some cases. Forum staff are also concerned as there are claims being put forth that Dollshe plans to close down their doll making company. Due to the instability of the company, the lack of communication, the lack of promised refunds, and the wait times now surpassing 5 years, we strongly urge members to research the current state of this company very carefully and thoroughly before deciding to place an order. For more information please see the Dollshe waiting room. Do not assume this cannot happen to you or that your order will be different.

Where do you keep your doll?

Nov 16, 2004

    1. I have a glass display showcase where I display all my dolls standing. :)

    2. on the floor next to our 40" Bravia Sony HDTV
      whose going to hurt them noW! hahaha

    3. I have a 5 foot tall bookcase and also a shelf unit about 6 foot up the wall next to my computer. I always have my dolls on display on one of them. Just make sure you don't display them in a part of your room that gets bathed in sunlight as this can harm the dolls by increasing yellowing.

      If you leave the dolls siting down, there is a very low chance they will topple over. However you should never leave your dolls standing unsupported for long periods of time. You can never tell when they might fall. If you really really want to display the dolls standing then I highly recommend getting some doll stands to support them.

      As far as cats are concerned, if you display the dolls on a high case of shelf, they probably won't be too fussed about trying to get up there. My cat has a natural path and I know where she does and doesn't go. She's never fussed with my dolls and I don't think she ever would. Only you know your cats, so you need to decide for yourself where you can put them.

      If you're really concerned about the cats getting to the dolls no matter what, your last option would be to get a big display cabinet and some doll stands, and display the dolls there instead.

    4. I have this little bookshelf in my room that almost goes to the ceiling, and it was one of the cheap, build it yourself kinds.. So when I started getting into dolls I took out one of the shelves in the middle so that there is more space and I got little chairs and stuff for my lovelies to sit on. It's like their own little room, and my dog can't reach them from there ^_^

      When I am gone from the house for an extended period of time though (like on vacation), I just put them back in their boxes and put them up in the closet. I always save my doll's carrying cases/boxes that they came to me in so they have somewhere safe to go.

    5. I have no idea where I'm keeping my fourth doll. I have no room for him whatsoever lol. I'm really worrying where he's gonna stay as everyone has a place but him, he just won't fit.

    6. My Niall lives in the bottomost drawer of my dresser. I've lined it with pillows and such to keep it comfy, and he has a Ty beanie bunny to keep him company. Keeping him in the dresser when he's not out to play keeps the dust off him, and it can get very dusty here due to the enviroment and pet dander. :sweat

      Company boxes ... they remind me too much of coffins. Anyone ever notice that? :sweat

    7. I have a small set of drawers (40x40cm and about 50cm tall) that Vince hangs out on most of the time, it's more or less his bed. Other times I have him sitting on my bed or on my desk against my fishtank.
      I don't have any furry pets, so I don't have the problem of them knocking things off, though I'm sure a fall of 50cm onto carpet wouldn't hurt him in the least.

    8. There are two places in the house I'm permitted to keep them. I say 'permitted', because my fiance and I have a godawful amount of clutter and are the packrats of doom. Bringing them in meant getting rid of other things, which, well. You can imagine how well -that- went over.

      One spot is where our old VHS collection used to live. I finally convinced the boy that we really, really do not need to keep old VHS tapes we also have on DVD now -anyway- on a shelf and handy, so those got packed away, and won me half a bookcase for the MAs. They've spilled over a bit on to the pair of little drawer shelves I store the doll stuff in in front of the bookcase, too, but that, apparently, is forgivable.

      The second is a work in progress. Originally, it was just going to be one, and I could have nested him almost anywhere in the bedroom. Then one became three. And may become five or six. (Shhhh... he knows about the three part, but the rest as yet is just me scheming and wishing. Topaz needs an Ark to hang out with, dangit!) We're going to put some shelves along my side of the bed for them to live on, since we have some handy, and that is the last few inches of free wall in the bedroom.

      We actually bought a display case of the right size, but... but... but... it would be a little cramped in there. And while I know that doesn't matter at all, something about it just seems 'off' to me. It would -look- cramped in there, and that bugs me enough that it isn't currently in use. I'd also likely have to move it (and find somewhere to move it to) that doesn't involve sunlight, so it's off the options list presently.

    9. I have this huge bookshelf type thing with a very large surface with four sections that are about 2 ft. by 4 ft. with an inset of almost 2 ft. i built a room for my blythe in the first inset, and all across the top of the bookshelf which is about 9 ft long, i have built my future BJD's home complete with his own bed, desk, window, and bookshelf.

    10. I cleared out a large dresser drawer and put their cushions along with a doll size pillow in to make them a bed. At night I cover them up with a dollsize quilt and put some of their toys in with them.

      During the day they are usually on my bed or my daughters.

      My husband laughs his butt off at this, although he's really rather fond of them, and so are my cats. They actually cuddle up next to them during the day to take a snooze and look for them if they're not on the bed.

    11. I have a few sitting on a doll-sized sofa on a shelf, my tinies occupy a spot on my bedside cabinet and most of the rest fight for a spot on my wooden doll bed. Supposedly I am going to get another shelf in my room if a certain situation arises, so some dolls would be moved to that if that happens

    12. He stays in his carrying bag when I'm not around. I haven't gotten MSC sunblock for him yet.

    13. My boys, when I'm not playing with them/dressing them up for a photoshoot, etc, are always naked on my bed. I have thick winter curtains that keep light out, so I'm not worried about them being in the sun. I put them on my body pillow and they just lay there. I usually lay a little silk scarf over them so they don't get any floating cat hair on them. My kitty sleeps on my bed, but the most she's ever done to the boys is rub her face against their feetsies. <3;;

      Soon enough I'm going to convert one of my bookcase's shelves to a shelf for them, buuut...that's sometime in the future. *has to clean her room first* >_>;; <3;;

    14. My dolls sit on top of one of my bookshelves. It's only 3 feet tall so they're at a nice, visible level there.

      I find they tend to fall down when they stand and I tend to brush against their legs and knock them down if they sit with their legs hanging over the side, so right now they're mostly sitting on an old shoebox. I'm keeping an eye out for a decent sofa that's the right scale for my mature minis, though.

      They're right out in the open, but I live alone and don't have any pets right now, so it's not a problem. When I lived with my parents I had to worry about my cat sitting on my doll if I left her on something big enough for him to climb up on (which was mostly just a problem because then I'd be picking cat hairs off her forever), so I kept her on the edge of one of the shelves of my bookshelf -- it was too narrow for the big fat cat to jump up onto, and he left her alone.

    15. In plain sight, either on my dresser in my bedroom or my drafting table!

    16. I have animals so i have to keep them in a cupboard with glass doors, so at least i can see them if i can't carrie them that time.

    17. Put in the orginal boxes n put them under my bed....= =

    18. i keep mine in a drawer were my pet rats cant reach:) the box is in my sisters bedroom course of the rats

    19. I usually keep most of them in their boxes and four or five in my table. I like to rotate them not to see the same faces all the days, but I allways have my favorite outbox :)

    20. I still keep them in their original boxes coz I think it's the safest place :D but I'm thinking about putting them in the drawer which will be easier when I want to play with them
