1. It has come to the attention of forum staff that Dollshe Craft has ceased communications with dealers and customers, has failed to provide promised refunds for the excessive waits, and now has wait times surpassing 5 years in some cases. Forum staff are also concerned as there are claims being put forth that Dollshe plans to close down their doll making company. Due to the instability of the company, the lack of communication, the lack of promised refunds, and the wait times now surpassing 5 years, we strongly urge members to research the current state of this company very carefully and thoroughly before deciding to place an order. For more information please see the Dollshe waiting room. Do not assume this cannot happen to you or that your order will be different.

Where do you keep your doll?

Nov 16, 2004

    1. Well, currently I'm keeping my boy's pieces in a zippered sewing box from JoAnns. But normally, he and the other dolls in the house all stay in our bedroom. The cats aren't allowed in there, and we have this little shelf... thingy that we don't use except to hold junk. One shelf holds the two littles and the two MSDs, the shelf below that holds Fawkes, a DZ Yuu, and the bottom shelf is where I keep my dice and where Carousel normally beds down. The shelves aren't really big enough, but they fit curled up. Then the IH Jessica beds down in the Dollzone violin carrier in front of the shelves.

We're going to change to big bookcase in the workroom into our dollie keeping space, but the biggest problem is that both of us like to keep our dollies nearby. Things will change as we add more, but that's how things sit currently. We do have a huge closet though, and if need be we could have put the dolls in there. Shelves up high, or we could get a cheap bookcase to fit in the back.

    2. Mine are in a glass cabinet in my room. I also have black out shade on my windows so no light reaches them. They have almost outgrown their cabinet so they are going into a larger cabinet in my living room but it is sunny so the cabinet which sort of looks like a large stage with a glass front, is getting two layers of curtains( on black out and one decorative) and the girls will be hidden unless they are taken out or in the case upstairs which I will rotate who is in there. The case will be wallpapered and decorated like a house since it is so large. I am hoping it works out good.

    3. My guys are on top of my computer! Its a tower pc system so Shan (SD) perches on top neat as you please, with the tinies in his lap!

    4. i have some giant straw baskets i keep my dolls in. i layer them first with throws or soft blankets and sit my dolls inside them. i cover them with other blankets or throws to protect them from the sun and my five nosey pussy cats and my black lab.

    5. Apologies if this has been asked before but as a 'newbie' just thinking of the practicalities of BJD ownership - I was just wondering where everyone keeps their dolls. Does the cost of them mean that security is the first consideration (in case of a break in) or are they 'allowed to run free' when you are out of the house?!

    6. Mine are on the kitchen table, so i can stare at them and think about what to make next. Of course its not all of my dolls on the table, the rest are on shelves, or in curio cases. My least favorites are in boxes. I don't think most criminals would know their worth or how to resell them. I think this when I leave the house, but I could be wrong. My daughter keeps her dolls in a wooden case, which is good because this keeps te dust off and they are protected from light and whatnot.

    7. this might have come up in a picture request thread... ah, here it is. not exactly similar, but it's related.

i keep them in their boxes or my wardrobe, away from the sunlight. it's the only place in my room that isn't sunny. security wasn't my concern...there's probably more valuable and portable things than dolls that thiefs would steal should there be a break-in. though such things rarely happen where i live.

    8. I put my doll in doll box. Then put in my bedroom.I try to keep them away from sunlight.

    9. My dolls live in the frontroom (parlor?) of the house. They also each have their own special doll size chair. And there are other empty doll size chairs too, so they can entertain friends. They all look like they are sitting and visiting with one another. I like having them out and not locked away. I figure they are for my enjoyment, not as a collectors item, so no glass doors for them.

    10. Mine are kept in their boxes to keep them safe from dust and away from sunlight. I take them out when I have time to mess with them, otherwise they stay in their little "sanctuary". xD If I get a bigger house, I will probably have a room dedicated to my dolls and create a glass display cabinet for them. <3

    11.
    12. They sit on the top of the computer hutch. Josslyn and Peyton have tiny chairs but Adia just sits. Not sure where Marche will go just yet. There isn't room up there...

    13. Let's see...at the moment, four of the five girls are sitting atop my bookshelf. Ashe is hanging out with her boyfriend Bakura while Bele and Miya are reading over Megumi's shoulder. The Doctor is on top of my computer monitor, and Chae-ri's sitting beside me watching me post as she usually does.

    14. Right now, my dolly doesn't really have a place to truly call her own, yet (I'm working on it!). For now, she sits on a shelf above my and my husband's bed when I'm in the bedroom, or sits/lounges on my desk, when I'm out in the living room doing computer stuff during the day. Basically, I just tend to place her near me, wherever I happen to be, except the bathroom, of course.!

    15. Alice is on my dresser most of the time. Other times, she's at the computer.

    16. My boy sits on the box he came in, on top of a pillow =)

    17. I keep mine in their boxes when I'm not playing with them. I'm paranoid and have a hyperactive cat who likes to chew on things so I don't like displaying them. I take them out almost daily, though.

    18. I see a lot of people keep them in a pulled-out draw, or in their boxes.

I sort of think keeping mine in her box is sorta impersonal. Yesterday, when she got here, I thought to do that. But then I had cleared a space for her on my shelf a few weeks ago, in preparation for her...but then she ended up on my nightstand where my two Dollfies used to sit (who are now on my desk).

I have a feeling she's going to end up around my room, and not in one spot.

    19. He's in his box, under my bed, HA!

    20. I plan to set my beautiful Darae up on my dresser. And hope no goddamn animals get in here to mess with that idea. FFFfff-
