1. It has come to the attention of forum staff that Dollshe Craft has ceased communications with dealers and customers, has failed to provide promised refunds for the excessive waits, and now has wait times surpassing 5 years in some cases. Forum staff are also concerned as there are claims being put forth that Dollshe plans to close down their doll making company. Due to the instability of the company, the lack of communication, the lack of promised refunds, and the wait times now surpassing 5 years, we strongly urge members to research the current state of this company very carefully and thoroughly before deciding to place an order. For more information please see the Dollshe waiting room. Do not assume this cannot happen to you or that your order will be different.

Where is the weirdest place you've taken your doll?

Jun 21, 2006

    1. I took my boy to the hair dressers while I got my hair done, then to the movies to see the Dark Knight.

    2. I keep contemplating taking a doll to the hairdresser... to have them style the wig... I'm getting to the point where I'd rather pay a professional than hack it up myself!

    3. Hmm, lesee, I've taken mine and a friend's doll to Uwajimayas and I had to go to the BR so when I walked out of the stall, people were like, 0__0. I also took mine to the movies, resteraunts, grocery stores, mall, the zoo... I don't think there isn't an place where I've taken them. lol

    4. The Cyclone roller coaster at Coney Island. They were in my bag, which was clenched between my feet and the straps looped around my legs...and nothing broke! It was awesome. ^^

    5. Actually I've never taken her anywhere (I am new she is too) but I AM about to head out in a few to meet someone from this board for the first time in just a few minutes....since it's the first by default it will be the weirdest....LOL

    6. mine aren't that weird

I took her to a fancy tea room two days ago for my birthday party

she fit right in (it's very over the top with a lot of pink and cream everywhere..... it's my heaven)

also I've taken her to school twice..... the first time she got called a barbie a lot (and she didn't come out of her case often) and the second time I got a picture with her and every one of my teachers.... a lot of people were afraid of her in my third period but were somewhat interested in her. everyone at school kind of expected this sort of thing from me already or just already though I was so weird that it didn't matter anymore:sweat

    7. Er...a cemetery? That's probably weird for some people. (Not me, though, I love them.) I've taken several of my boys to visit my favourite Gothic author's grave. I live in Baltimore, and not very far from Westminster Hall and Burying Grounds, where Edgar Allan Poe is buried, and I take one or two of the boys there with me every so often when I visit. I like taking photos of them by/on the stone because...well, I kinda like the thought that he'd have found them interesting, and because I like the thought of my favourite weird gothy boys connecting with my favourite weird Gothic author. For this reason, I've also taken them to his former home for a visit and to watch a performance of The Tell-Tale Heart.
(Possibly even weirder is that I/they have a little bottle containing a scraping of marble from the moument at the front of the cemetery, soil from his original grave, a bit of stone from the hearth at his home,a small scraping of plaster and paint from the wall of his home and a tiny bit of dust/dirt from the catacombs under Westminster Hall.)

    8. To the zoo. Unfortunately it got too hot in the car & his head got a little sticky but no permanent damage was done. I won't be doing that again though.

    9. Well, Pippin came with me today to the Gardens. Utah has a place in the Valley where there are lots of fun and beautiful things. The gardens are one of them. I wish she had a better faceup right now (it sucks 'cause I did it myself :( ) But she was in my arms almost the entire time. We did get a few weird looks to be sure.

    10. :) Sevi since climbed to the artificial lake in the mountains of Andorra to make a picture on the shore.

    11. A few years ago, my friend's father died and he wanted someone to go with him to pick out a coffin. So I took Ryuichi with me to look at coffins at a discount coffin store. The proprietor was fascinated with him and even let me take pics of him in some of the display models! I even have pics of him in a pine coffin used for cremation. :aeyepop:

My friend thought me taking pics of Ryuichi in different coffins was funny and actually laughed despite the situation. I'm glad I could not only be there for him but make him laugh.

      Old pic is OLD

    12. I've taken one of my older dolls to school with me. More specifically math class and homeroom. I ended up being the teacher for the day and told my teacher and classmates all about them. Then, I took my newest one to the salon with me to keep me entertained. It was the huge elephant in the room no one wanted to address. It was a bit awkward but I wasn't phased. Everyone thinks I'm a bit messed up anyway.

    13. I. am. so. jealous. :...(
I wish I lived in Baltimore for that sole reason.

    14. I took my girl out to several stores and dinner today and to the veterinarian yesterday. She makes every so much more fun (especially when my entire family is crowded into my mom's tiny car. She's a Yosd so its not to difficult to take her places

    15. When I first got my boy River, I brought him to work with me. I work as a lunch lady at a local college and my co-workers were both amused and creeped out. They thought he was cute but that I paid too much for him. Then when I brought him on break, they asked how anatomically correct he was, which resulted in my 30-60 year old co-workers pulling down his pants and laughing at what they found in his pants.

Though they think it's weird, they are also very supportive of it and often ask me how he's doing and if I bought any clothes for him lately.

    16. I've taken mine to uni classes, work and the doctor before many times, if that is considered strange. Mind, that was a Puki though, he was easy to cover up if I had to.
Bit more unusual, um, the Forbidden City perhaps is the strangest place I took one of mine I think ^^; I went there a couple of weeks ago, and took one of my dolls with me, the tiny one dressed in Qing Dynasty clothing ^^; I think he had more photos taken by the other visitors than I did

    17. I've actually taken one of my OT dolls to a wake before...But I didn't take him out, if I wanted to mess with him, I just put my hand inside my pure and stroked his little head. It was a lot easier to have him around and my friend who's mother the wake was for when I pulled him out after her asking me what I had in there laugh and said: "I knew you'd bring somethin'." I was just glad to hear her laugh.

The weirdest place for me though was taking Avalon to Sam's Club (big warehouse grocery store) someone thought I was stealing him. >A>

    18. Well, I made a habit of taking my dolls on my travels.
Jean, whos chara was inspired by a french politician, went with me to paris, Showed his respect to his old monarch and posed with me infront of his own portrait. The louvre was fun, as was everything else in Paris (notre dame, the lolita brand store, the petit louxembourg) a pitty I could not take him to visit his grave....

Zhou has been to a medieval archery show and to Basilea as a tourist. I take him to conventions once a year as a tradition. And he's gone to pretty much everywere around town. Last we went to the "Japan-Days" here at the univerity, he got a lot of attention.

Loki has come with me shopping and is the only one who was at my job.

Well, and Louis came with me to Barcelona, we went to a manga con and he sat on my head while watching the cosplay contest. And of course visiting around town^^.

I can't remember were else I've been with a doll.

    19. Hehe, I'm glad you went with it though! I'm just imagining a room full of people trying their best to ignore this doll :p

I honestly think it would be a long time before I'd be comfortable taking a doll out anywhere in public!

    20. I took my Kichiro ( Resinsoul Jun ) to my Psche session. That was kinda weird. All the people in the waiting room wondered what was sticking out of my purse. My psychiatrist wanted to see him, so I showed her. She really thought he was neat and asked to see any others I was going to get. Sadly, she moved and I got a new psychiatrist who is crappy. She doesn't care about the dolls. ><
