Which do you prefer plastic, acyrlic, silicone or glass eyes?

Sep 1, 2005

    1. Glass eyes really do look the nicest or urethane, whichever you prefer. I plan on upgrading all my dolls eyes to glass next year *_* they're just so much nicer!

    2. I like glass eyes with light color and very visible pupils. I found my boys look more energetic and have stronger personality when they wear glass eyes, compared to acrylic eyes. Certainly, there are some beautiful acrylic eyes, which I use when I would like my boys look more fictious.
Haven't tried any silicone eyes yet...im looking forward to it~

    3. i love the look of glass eyes (what a huge difference it made in my girlfriend's doll when she took out the acrylics and put in the glass), but unfortunately i have only found the colour i want in acrylic so far. i definitely keep an eye out on the glass eyes though... just in case. the thought of silicone doesn't appeal to me much, i just don't think i'd like the texture... but i suppose if i found the right colour i'd give it a shot, since i've never seen or felt them before.

    4. I like both acrylic and glass eyes, but i mostly bought chinese glass eyes because it's beautiful and very durable.(I always used super-sculpey for a long time, it's toxic with acrylic eyes)

    5. to start with i'll use acrylic. my camera is a real peice so i dont want to spend around $30 for really good eyes my camera probably wont pick up anyways, but once i upgrade i think ill use glass.

    6. i personaly prefer Glass or Acrylic. i love the crispness of glass eyes and the the way my acrylic eyes seem to follow me so i dont realy need to change their position.

im not a big fan of sylicone tho the look soo cool. i have a pair and they just attract dust too easy T-T

    7. Urethane for me. Especially the eyes from Enchanted Doll and Ruddy Peach. Those two companies really go out on a limb to make your ideal vision for your doll come true.

Next for me comes glass, but I dislike the general 'deadness'. There is a lot of sparkle and depth, yes, but glass eyes always, always hammer home the fact that your doll is a doll. There's barely any glass eyes with any realism to them whatsoever. And that's cool if you dont mind the 'cartoony' feel.... I quite like it for some dolls. But for my hobby, in which I focus on more realistic sculpts, glass just wont cut the mustard.

    8. I'm okay with acrylics and I mainly use those at the moment. But the free glass eyes I got with my Dollmore order have me interested in glass eyes. Though they kinda follow you... O_O; I think that's really cool and kind of disconcerting at the same time...

    9. Honestly glass seems to be the best choice out of the many materials used to make eyes... They seem to be of overall much better quality and give that 'wet' look that eyes naturally have, personally glass eyes are all I really want to buy up when I get dolls of my own.

    10. Well glass and silicone are def my favorites. Although some acrylics dont look plastic it depends what kind you get only 2 of my dolls have acrylic eyes and it will prob stay that way. For me it all depends on the color and what feels right for there looks, I may end up with a couple urethane though i may not. But i am def addicted to ginarolo glass XD

    11. Ginarolo's glass for me! :D
I also like Soom for cat eyes. :3

    12. I havent tried ginas eyes yet but they are on my list !

    13. So far I really like acrylic eyes, they come in all the exact colors and styles i want.;)

    14. I REALLY like glass eyes~
Acrylic is fine temporarily, but I think glass has a much clearer look.
Acrylics with designs look to pixel-y to me D:

    15. glass eyes, I believe. although I only have Dollmore and Musedoll acrylic eyes, the difference to the Dollmore D glass eyes is quite stunning -- Dollmore D are much clearer, and look more realistic to me. I find that the little pixel-like thingies that show on the iris of the acrylic aren't there on the glass eye.

on the other hand, the crazier eyes (like those with the pupil a butterfly or a star) are usually acrylic. and since I like those, I don't mind getting them even if they are not made of glass.

I have yet to see how silicone/plastic eyes look.

    16. glasssss I used to have only acrylics in my dolls until I bought one pair of quality glass eyes, now I'm hooked >_<

    17. i love glasses but they are sooo pricey. so i go with acrylic for now.

    18. To me glass eyes feel more high-class. They also look better than acrylic eyes. But one thing I like in acrylic eyes is there's many different looks of acrylic eyes, much more than in glass eyes, or in silicone eyes. I haven't ever touched silicone eyes, but I would like to!

    19. I love glass eyes but I do enjoy the realism of acrylic eyes. Silicone I've never had before, but I wonder what it would be like.
