Which do you prefer plastic, acyrlic, silicone or glass eyes?

Sep 1, 2005

    1. I like very high quality glass eyes the most (like zouks) -- but actually, those kinds of eyes are hard to find in exciting colors, and very expensive. So, in the end, I definitely prefer uerethane eyes! It mimics the style (threading and etc) of fancy glass eyes, but it's about half the price and 10x the color choice! Granted, they're still a little bit pricey... my next choice down is souldoll acrylic eyes (they're definitely the best in the acrylic category) or super cheap (but undetailed) glass eyes (like captured in glass).

    2. I favor glass and acrilics, as they look the best in my opinion. At least for what I can afford.

    3. I'm starting to really prefer full-round acrylics. Which happen to be the cheapest option, LOL! I like the more realistic look of acrylics, and they're easier to position than flat-backs or silicone. I'd like some glass eyes for my Puki since she's not really supposed to be human anyway, but for the others the glass ones I've seen aren't realistic enough. Most urethane ones I've seen aren't much if any more realistic than glass, and they're more expensive than I'm willing to pay at the moment.

I get as many compliments on my doll's $6 Glibs as the $30+ Soom silicones, and they both photograph well.

    4. i like glass and acrylic eyes =D I prefer acrylic over glass though, because if I drop the acrylic ones I don't freak as much...when I drop my glass ones.. I cry a little xD

    5. I prefer round acrylics! I think they are more beautiful, and they're easyer to adjust when they're in the dolls head (My oppinion).

    6. I like Eyeco silicone eyes (and my doll has a pair of Eyeco). I also LOVE how Enchanted doll-eyes look on the photos but I don’t have a pair of these eyes yet.

    7. I've biased towards Soom Silicone eyes. They photograph wonderfully and have such lovely bright colours.

    8. I like how realistic glass looks, and also acrylic.

    9. Glass all the way. Eyeco polymers are my favorite acrylics but have a limited range of colors, and I'm not fond of the dullness that most silicones suffer from.

    10. Urethane my dear. ~Gus

    11. I mostly prefer glass and silicone eyes, but I do like acrylics as well. Glassones are great for their depth and silicone ones are fantastic for dolls with wonky eyewells. Acrylics are good too, though, and I like them for their wider range of colours. They're just not my absolute favourites because they don't look as real as glass or silicone.

    12. I like many companies' glass eyes and Soom's silicone eyes about equally at this point. ^-^ [Personally, I haven't been too fond of any acrylic eyes I've owned so far, but hey, I gave it a try. ;D] I love the color variety and style of Soom's eyes---but I love the shine of glass eyes...so maybe someday I'll find the perfect compromise! ;D

    13. I love silicone and glass eyes, but aryrlic have wide range of colors I also prefer.

    14. i love silicone when eyes are recent. But Glass eyes look so real when they are perfecly made.

So, i prefer glass for photoshoot. :)

    15. I prefer the glass eye because it look exclusive.555

    16. Glass by far! I don't have any experience with silicone eyes, so I don't have an opinion on them vs. glass, but Callahan wore acrylics for the longest time. When I ordered him a pair of blue glass eyes from Ebay and put them in, I was just stunned at how much better he looked. Now both of my dolls wear glass eyes. I prefer them over acrylics because they look shinier, more realistic, and they have better tracking. They also photograph much better! :)

    17. I have massive preference for whatever carries a stem! :D I find flat-backed eyes a nightmare to place. ATM my favourite eyes are the ginarolos I have, beautiful glass with blessed stems, haha~ :D

    18. I'm fond of glass eyes they're good looking and shiny. I think my dolls will have glass eyes only. OR urethane ones from Enchanted doll, the day I'll be able to afford them =D

    19. I've only had glass eyes, but they seem to be the best. All the other kinds aren't realistic enough for me.

    20. I do like the glass eyes but I just bought a pair and one of the stems were broken and shipped so it made it difficult to handle. I had not come across this problem before so glass eyes get a point taken off for this :(
