Which do you prefer plastic, acyrlic, silicone or glass eyes?

Sep 1, 2005

    1. I like the shine of glass eyes but I only own one pair and they are my dolls eyes that I normally use. Acrylics are cheaper and since she does not wear different eyes every much I dont feel the need to buy glass eyes.

    2. Yeah, I really dont mind plastic, and they come in A LOT of amazing colors and designs.

    3. when i first started to get in the doll hobby i really didnt like the way the plastic eyes look.. there seemed to be no depth to them but now they are alot better ...

I am not sure do they make high dome plastic eyes??

    4. You know, I've come to the opinion that good eyes can be good eyes no matter what material they are. I've seen some crummy eyes from each material, and some really great ones too. I will say though I am a bit partial to soom's eyes...

    5. My FCS doll came with zoukeimura glass eyes, but they weren't the right color for him. I found the exact color I wanted in a pair of cheap acrilic eyes.

    6. glasses are the best option for me ^^

    7. There's nothing like good quality glass eyes; they're easy to clean and look stunning in a doll. I love silicone but they get dirty easily.

    8. I use marbles, actually, for all my dolls. If you put an LED in the head they glow. It's awesome ^_^*

    9. All my BJD wear Volks glass eyes. I like the feel, look, form and quality of this kind of eye the most. I think because of that glass eyes are my favorite ones.

    10. Glass eyes are my favorite. All of my dolls have glass eyes. I don't mind spending more to get good eyes because I don't change my dolls eyes. After I find the right pair that is it. I'm kind of the same with wigs. It's their clothes that change frequently.

    11. my dolls 1 has silicone, 2 have glass, and 3 have acrylic

    12. Nice, detailed acrylics all the way. Acrylics can be highly detailed and durable, and are almost always very affordable. Urethane can yellow really fast, silicone collects dust like it's its job, and glass, though my second favorite, often looks very plain.

    13. I prefer glass eyes :)

    14. Glass and silicone

    15. I like soft glass eyes. They have the depth and the detail, but they aren't too shiny. :)

    16. I actually really like acrylic. There are some glass eyes on my wish list, but I am often drawn to the iris detail and color variations in acrylics.

    17. So far, I'm only familiar with glass and acrylic eyes, but I definitely prefer glass. The detail in the acrylics look drawn, so, to me, they look even more fake than glass. I'm curious how that will be with silicone eyes, hopefully I'll get them soon.

    18. i love the way light interacts with glass eyes but love the intricate iris' of acrylic eyes. the first glass eyes I bought really amazed me at how good they looked, so in general I'd always go for glass eyes

    19. Most definitely glass. It's super clear, and the colors don't fade over time. I would love urethane, but I heard they yellow as well.

    20. Urethane all the way, with high quality glass as a second choice. Urethanes pick up light in a wet way that looks more lifelike. I do have two pairs of Silver high quality glass eyes though (the maker's on DoA now :) ), and they're works of art as far as I'm concerned. My FCS Zouks are not that great, although they track better than any other eyes I've owned.

But I've decided all of my dolls will have urethanes. They're just a pain to get a hold of sometimes x_x;.
