Which do you prefer plastic, acyrlic, silicone or glass eyes?

Sep 1, 2005

    1. Glass eyes I love the shine of the eyes. I also love the fact that whenever you look from another side the eyes follow you O_O

    2. there are a lot of amazing eyes available, I think it depends on the look you want for your doll.

    3. I prefer glass eyes but ED eyes is still one of my favourite~!

    4. I love urethane eyes (mine are ED) and lifelike acrylic eyes from Glib :3

    5. I'm getting 2 pairs of urethanes by ED after reading a lot of good reviews and seeing how they are on the dolls. I do like what I see so far online so~

    6. I like glass eyes better /getting those next/ but I guess it all depends on what you like. I've heard glass catches the light better but I have acrylic on the doll i have now and they don't look half bad /Volks didn't have glass in the size I needed/

    7. Both my dolls came with acrylic eyes but now have glass. They're so clear and have such depth and they SHINE! Acrylic eyes have nothin' on 'em :D
I've never had silicone or urethane eyes. Never really inspected any silicone eyes, but I've seen urethanes in a doll and they look marvelous! They're like... super-glass! Only reasons my dolls don't have them is that they don't usually come in their sizes (12mm maybe, but rarely ever do you see 8mm urethanes @_@) and they don't come in the colors I need... but I'll probably get them someday.

    8. Glass because they look the best and are less prone to melting from different kinds of adhesives when you place them in the head :D

    9. Urethane by Dollshe Craft are the most beautiful ones for me.

    10. My favorites are acrylics from Safrin Doll. I personally don't always like the way glass eyes look because I find them too glowy and they lack the detail that acrylics have. I'm probably one of the only people here that prefers acrylics :)

    11. I've had acrylics for such a long time and now that I've gotten a hold of some glass eyes, I'm not going back. xD Glass eyes are really pretty. I love how light reflects off of them and there's a great variety of colours.

    12. I prefer eyeco soft glass eyes. For me, they are the most realistic eyes. Their detail and color make them really look like human eyes.

I like glass eyes for their endurance too. Many years past, silicon eyes change color but glass eyes still look the same as new.

    13. From the little experience that I have, I can honestly say I prefer glass eyes overall. They're easier to work with (putting them in), as well as being clearer and brilliant in terms of color. Acrylic are just ugly and look fake, to be honest. Haven't had experience with any other types of eyes.

    14. I previously said that I liked silicone eyes but now that I have a few pairs I have to say, not so much. I like glass much better than the other two. I have mostly plastic eyes since they are cheaper and easier to get (for me) and come in a wider veriety of color options, but I like the look of glass (only have 2 pairs). Silicone is very hard for me to position right and the purple ones I got for my El only a year ago, have turned a purply-brown.

    15. I prefer glass eyes....they look clearer and nicer.....

    16. I used to like acrylics but after I put Uzi through an experimental eye surgery at a recent dollmeet- I converted to glass and urethane eyes. They feel and look more real to me. It's like they have more depth behind them but that's IMHO. Glass is great for deeper colors, but you get more color variation with urethanes and even silicone based on what I seen on DOA.

    17. I prefer glass eyes over any other material. Good quality glass eyes give so much depth and detail in a doll's look, I really adore them.
Silicone eyes are my second best choice, I love Soom's silicone eyes, specially the LE glitter ones.
Acrylic eyes are a big no-no for me, I really can't stand how fake most of them look. My Asa is currently stuck with her default pair that came with her, because I can't seem to find the right size and color for her. It's the reason why I don't like photographing her very much because it's hard to position her eyes in any other direction than a straight forward stare.
Urethane eyes I have no experience of so far, because they're so expensive, I haven't felt the need to spend 50 bucks for a pair of eyes when glass eyes work just wonderfully.

    18. I prefer glass eyes (Zoukeimuras are my favourites) I love the way they shine and capture light in photographs and in real life :)

    19. Urethane eyes is my number one (Specially Dollflower, Enchanted Doll and Ever Purple eyes).
Then glass eyes (Volks FCS Zoukei-Mura eyes are my favorite glass), the thing I don't like about glass eyes is they have the highest chance of bubbles, running colors or other problems like that. And after a few years they can go very noticeably dull and foggy.
Then high quality acrylics, some of the ones Volks YoSDs come with have so much depth they almost look like glass at first. Although I hate how prone they are to melting (I live in a very hot and humid place) and yellowing of the whites over time.

    20. I really like glass eyes. All of my dolls have them... I've found that the right pair of glass eyes really can bring a doll to life.
Not to mention.. I have an easier time finding ones I like than I do with any other type of eyes.
