Which do you prefer plastic, acyrlic, silicone or glass eyes?

Sep 1, 2005

    1. This thread is really helpful aahh. I have only ever seen glass eyes and acrylic eyes and I prefer glass best. I am actually happy I found this thread because I was wondering wtf a silicone eye was like, being too afraid to blow money on a pair XD By the sound of things I think i'll be sticking to glass haha

    2. I really like glass, although I haven't had much experience with other types apart from acrylic. But most of my dolls have glass and I just really like how it reflects light.

    3. I really like glass and silicone eyes~ but I want to try resin eyes eyes in future <3

    4. Having tried acrylic, glass and silicone, my favorite, by far, has been the silicone. I wish I had a pair of urethane!

    5. Mostly choice is glass eye....

I haven't really like glass eye that much, but for sometimes glass eye is very beautiful.

PS. For the DD glass eye would be the best match If you not prefer animatic eye

    6. My favorite are glass eyes. I don't really like acrylics but Volks makes some lovely acrylic eyes that look very detailed and pretty. I hate silicone eyes though, they are dust magnets, they never have the same amount of sparkle and they can turn yellow. I've always been interested in trying out urethane eyes... maybe one day :)

    7. I've tried acyrlics, silicone, urethane, and glass eyes... and i have to say my favorite type of eyes are Glass eyes.

    8. I adore silicone eyes. With glass as the next best option. Both have great depth, but silicone are infinitely more realistic looking, simply because they tend to have more realistic iris patterns (Eyeco in particular).

    9. I love both glass and silicone. <3

    10. My doll, as of now, has only acrylic eyes. And even though they probably don't look as awesome as the more-expensive glass eyes, I really like her eyes. Maybe because they're so small, and I really can't make out the details, but I like them. Eventually, I would like to get a pair of glass eyes, but it's not really high on my list.

    11. I love silicone eyes. All of my dolls have Soom silicone eyes except one, which has an inexpensive pair of blue glass eyes I bought at a convention. I haven't really come across any acrylic eyes that I really like, but I would try some other glass eyes, as well as urethane, if the price was right and I really wanted/needed a specific color. :3

    12. I prefer glass and urethane. I have always felt they capture light better and overall have a nicer shine. If in doubt on which color fits a character I go for glass, normally of I like it enough they will keep those. If I already know what eye color they need I go straight for urethane since they tend to be way more expensive.

Plastic, acrylic, and silicone don't shine as much. And depending on the quality they might not look realistic enough for me. They are so cheap though you can normally but a few pairs with the same money used to buy a single pair of glass or urethane. So they are nice when wanting to try more than one color choice or when you like changing their eye color often :3

    13. glass definitely.

    14. I may have answered this before, but I think I'm more open-minded than before. I will use anything that looks good. I've never tried silicone eyes, but I'd try some if I found the right pair. I used to say I didn't like acrylics, but my favorite doll has been rocking a pair of Souldoll acrylics for years. So, if I find something that looks good to me, I'll try it. At this point, I am primarily using glass eyes, though.

    15. I used to start with acrylics but now I prefer glass. All my boys are currently on glass eyes. I've not come across urethane or silicone yet but I hope to try them one day too. :)

    16. I like the urethane eyes, they are really beautiful. they are a bit out of my budget though. Silicone eyes are great, the soft glass fits the eye socket perfectly.
I would like to see a vertical pupil in the designs though. my girls are a mixture of acrylic and glass eyes. I also find the oval shaped acrylic eyes fit the socket more easily than the round.

    17. All my dolls have glass eyes but I´d love to try some eye candies as well in the future. I heared they are gorgeous :)

    18. I started with acrylic eyes too, but now my boy has a nice pair of blue glass eyes. I have to say, that they look gorgeous in pictures and make the doll look more realistic.

If the eyes look good, I will give them a go. No matter what type they are.

    19. I began with acrylic eye too. Some of them are really looked perfectly, but in due course has passed to glass. It only my desire was. Everyone chooses for himself.

    20. I like the soft silicone eyes from eyeco. They look so real and they are not that expensive.
