Which do you prefer plastic, acyrlic, silicone or glass eyes?

Sep 1, 2005

    1. oh yes I have seen the eye candies and they look great :)

    2. After reading all these eye reviews I wants to treat myself to a nice pair of eyes !

    3. I prefer glass. =D Their so nice and shiny! ^_____^

    4. I like glass ones the most. They look better than other ones in terms of looking realistic.

    5. I haven't seen any glass eyes personaly yet, I'm a little cautious since I make things out of hot glass myself I worry I might eb more aware of any flaws they have :sweat where as I might eb more forgiving for other eyes

that said sofar my favorite eyes are materpeice silicone, they have a nice almost metalic glow to them I wasn't expecting

    6. OK, jumping in here...
I would have said glass eyes all the way.But I have just bought( fourth hand) some eye candies, and quite honestly I can't believe that they are NOT glass. In fact they are better than my glass eyes, and as been said before, they really follow you around the room.I am completely won over by them....:aheartbea

    7. any pictures with you doll wearing them?

    8. Not at the mo,( it's night time here), ....They are a tad too big for her though, I'm hoping to get some 16mm at some point...I'll try and take some tomorrow.:)
Edit:I have taken some quickly, they are blurry,( Just taken some better pics) but you can see what I mean about them following you.I haven't moved Chloe but you can see how the eyes seem to have moved?

    9. Same here, I have glass eyes in my Ttori and acrylic in my MSD Ken, both look fabulous and while I don't favor one over the other I do have to praise SOOM eyes just because. They're squishy and they fit so much better in my SD than any other eyes I've found.

While I can't tell one from the other in photos, I can say that there is a small, yet noticable, difference in Glass vs. Acrylic in person. Acrylics are fun for thier outrageous colors and glass are beautiful because of thier depth.

      Guess I'm just a fence-sitter. :sweat

Edit: Oh yeah! Souldoll eyes follow you like that too!!! I was quite startled by that at first.

    10. Up until a few days ago I would have said glass all the way, but I recently ordered some Volks metallic acrylics, and I have to say that I am very impressed!

I got the deep blue and baby blue, and the way they catch the light has made a huge improvement in how my Lati Red boy looks. His eyeholes are so small that his blue glass eyes often got "lost". Not so with the metallics!

    11. Hmm, when I replied before I came down in favour of acrylics, but since then I've gotten my first pair of Zoukeimura glass eyes, and I'm constantly amazed by them. When I first got them I was a little disappointed, to be honest - in their plastic packaging they looked so flat and dark, and I wondered 'this is what some of those crazies on DoA pay so much money for???'

...Well, sign me up as one of the crazies now! *laughs* When I put them into him, they suddenly lit up and came alive. The change was really amazing, and I can't stop admiring them. They're such a deep, yet clear, colour, and the threading in them is perfect - not too heavy, as I'd been worried it might be. I'd definitely love to have a pair in light blue to replace the darker of Ilú's eyes someday, as they really are amazing.

Then again, I'm currently waiting for my first pair of Eye Candies, so we'll see how they compare when they get here. They're certainly a lot cheaper than the Zouks!

    12. Hahhaha, yeah let us know how they compare won't you?..I used to think that even about Eye Candies( seeing as they're not glass, which I still can't believe)

    13. Yep, definitely let us know :)
There are some Eye Candies that I've been drooling over for ages...
Now that ed is accepting paypal it would be easier to order from them...:)

    14. Glass and Masterpiece silicon eyes. I really don't like acrylics much. >.o;

    15. Oh wow yes I can see how they move thatis eally neat. I like that color of green as well.

Did you do her face up yourself?

    16. Wow, that helps a lot. :) I'll definitely have to get a pair of glass eyes.

    17. I prefer urethane... I've never seen richer, more vibrant colors with such a beautiful, glossy coat... not even in glass.

    18. I've never had silicone eyes before. But I do love my acrylics. <3 I don't find them much better or worse than glass, and I can actually afford them. I'm sorry, but I'm NOT paying $30 for a pair of glass spheres. Silicone either, for that matter.

      But I'll spend $500 on resin. ;)

    19. So far I only own Volks HG Glass eyes. I love them! The only problem is that they are so heavy, if my Umeko falls over, they roll around in her head XD
