White Skin FTW!..But..

Apr 9, 2009

1. i wasnt going to post pics of any of my kids since this is the discussion thread (maybe there should a WS doll photo thread for our companion to this one XDD) but i have to add this

most of my dolls are WS. this one is WHITE.

bonus with WS EL (El is brand new, no yellowing. thats just how white the Kara Klum is)

i am not a photagrapher, i dont really know what im doing, i just point and shoot. flash was on. i got in his face. no washing out, no over-exposure. as a matter of fact, he photographs freaking perfect every time...im not kidding. it can work, it just takes practice. please dont dismiss the WS cause its hard to photograph. its not any harder than NS.

this doll
[IMG]

NS. i wash him out all the time. my NS Kara Klum too. it depends on the photo, not the doll.
like i said, dont yell at me, im just trying to prove that WS can photograph just as well as NS. if you dont like WS dont buy it, but photographing can work...

and i agree with the above comment. Wig caps are fantastic. none of my dolls are stained (and bonus: their wigs never fall off), and look at that boy in the green wig XD if anyone should stain it should be him!

2. I bought my first WS doll. It's a puki, which may pose some problems since in order to get a decent shot, it requires zooming in. But usually my camera is pretty good about it without flash and without too much light. So I'll have to see.

My main concern is getting dirty. Probably a bad choice since my Puki is likely going to be my "go anywhere and everywhere" doll.

3. I love white skin...I don't know why, but they just looks better to me.

4. I have a Delf Moon White Skin that I simply adore and worship. Sadly, t'is true that it's hard to find hair that suits him well. Dark-colored wigs look best on him. I also just bought a dark grey wig from Dollheart.

I'm worried about the yellowing too. Since he has white skin, I fear it might be more prominent.

5. Anyone have anything else to say? Im still wonderin' since my boy is white XD

6. I just ordered my first BJD ever no more than an hour ago. She's a bobobie Mei doll. I've been wrestling for weeks on whether or not to go with white skin (which stops my heart, it's so gorgeous) or normal.
White skin yellows much faster, as I've read. But it can be gotten rid of. (as I've also read)
Then there's the wig problem. Only a select few wigs actually suit a snow-skined doll.
On the other hand, it's PRETTY!! :aheartbea:aheartbea:aheartbea
In the end, I went with a normal skinned one. (Shame on me) But some day, I'll get that beautiful snow skinned doll.....

7. I've had white, normal, and tan skin dolls all together and they looked fine. Also never had issues finding a wig to suit their skin type, you just have to assume that the rules for real life color coordinating apply to dolls.

As for yellowing, well it happens unless you keep your dolls out of the direct and indirect sun and other yellowing things like cigarette smoke. Some apparent yellowing also could just be dirt that needs to be cleaned off.

If you go for a white like Volks' Pureskin White which has built in UV cut, the yellowing will be a much slower process as well. And if your doll isn't made with UV cut resin, just use MSC spray with UV protection on the body. Yes it's a hassle but it does help.

Yay photos!

8. I myself have always said that I preferred normal skin...and somehow ended up with a lot of WS dolls >.< Up until my 7th doll, save for one tanned doll, they were all WS...

The one thing that does bug me is yellowing. i knew they would yellow, but my Breakaway (from '05) that I got secondhand is completely beauty green. It makes it hard to dress him because certain colors just make him look greener. Even so, he's still somehow remained my favorite of all my dolls >.> so I guess it doesn't bug me all that much :)

9. I was scared of yellowing at first, but after getting my first white skin doll I've fallen utterly in love :) I think I'm weird cause I find white skin dolls easier to photograph than normal skin.

10. I prefer the white skin personally, I have a two white skinned, one Normal and one Lilac!
The white skin fits in with my Characters :D

My leo kinda looks more whiter even though he seems to be normal skinned!

and here's my white skinned Puki
[IMG]

11. I never did like white skin much...I found them easier to dirty(which is true for mine) and would yellow faster...

My Heliot's white skinned. And he looks good in a white wig. He looks yellowy...but I do find myself starting to like him more...

I guess white skin isn't really that hard to match wigs or eyes with. Just that they might turn 'ghostly' if matched with very light coloured eyes and a very dark wig, with a thick face-up(red lips/pale lips).

:sweat

12. My boy is WS and I think he is great LOL I notice that dirt can show up more easily on him but I don't think is paleness is unnatural....he and I are have a similar skin color...*is irish so pale as hell* I can agree with some of the above posts they show the dirt sometimes easier, and I know some companies WS greens not yellows which is REALLY SCARY to me But I am really happy with my WS boy and will probably get WS's in the future
and...lol...just because some other people are doing it...

here is my boy (picture taken with a crappy cell phone so does not show his complete awesomeness)

13. AHHHHHHH D: MEGAN!!!!
Your boy.Yourboyyourboyyourboyyourboyyourboyyourboyyourboyyourboy!!!!!
He looks so cute! He finally came in *smacks* You better show me what he looks like after his new faceup,Megehhhh ♥ :} WOO! ♥♥♥

14. *chuckles and nods* Of course you will be SPAMMED with post face up pictures and post new Wig pictures and post picture pictures LOL!!! Luff ya <3

15. Well, I'm not that happy about the yellowing issue >.<
My 4 year old WS MNF is going on lemon/lime XD
It looks pretty bad next to my newer WS MNF WooSoo DX (like really bad)
Of course it's nothing a bit of alcohol and magic eraser can't help >.>

16. After having a WS Puki and a Choco puki... photographing them together is a NIGHTMARE.
It's too dark for the chocopuki when just right for WS, and enough light for the Choco the WS fades into background or become a glowball... >.>

They are easier to dirty, any dust particle really shows up.
They do look great when photographed alone, and they look REALLY good with flesh tone or pinkish blushing, a little bit goes a loong way. That doesn't work quite the same on NS dolls.
But if I were to do it all over again, I would not have bought white skin, they are just too white IRL for my liking... especially when they were blank. I couldn't stand looking at my WS Puki naked until I blushed him.. then he look quite decent. :> (and I heart him! don't get me wrong)

17. I prefer the white-skinned dolls myself, though they do look very, very odd if they don't have a face-up yet. I'm annoyingly pale myself though, so I might be biased!

18. I recently got a BW puki. At first, i was a bit worried because i dunno if I'll like his skintone. But when i got him and dressed him all up, he becomes my favorite doll to play with. The skintone is not paper white at all. Even sitting next to my other NS dolls, they look perfectly together. I'm not good at photographing at all and i'll meet that sometimes he was a bit washed out in photos. But i guess it will get better once i practice more.

19. I like the WS- I have a Bobobie in white, and that is a pure paper white. I only worry about staining, really. I don't take my dolls out in the sun except for short photo shoots, but yellowing doesn't bother me, anyway. I think they can carry any color wig depending on the faceup and eye color.
Mine has the look of a delicate flower:

But you can use white skinned dolls for gothy, vampire and Victorian looks, fair maidens, albinos, ethereal angels, true redheads. It is a versatile color.

20. It can look "ghoulish" "vamp" or "emo" none of which I am into..
Then it can also start changing color and the face up "bleeding" into the face - I have seen some good ones and som really REALLY bad ones and they are always 'white skin' dolls.
