1. It has come to the attention of forum staff that Dollshe Craft has ceased communications with dealers and customers, has failed to provide promised refunds for the excessive waits, and now has wait times surpassing 5 years in some cases. Forum staff are also concerned as there are claims being put forth that Dollshe plans to close down their doll making company. Due to the instability of the company, the lack of communication, the lack of promised refunds, and the wait times now surpassing 5 years, we strongly urge members to research the current state of this company very carefully and thoroughly before deciding to place an order. Who is the most "masculine" boy?

May 22, 2006

    1. Yukinojo, Saint - I even like Asiter and Lupinos (I think that's his name) with the right wig. He's got that steely sneer thing going on.

      It's all in the wig

    2. Hm. How about Paris? I usually find him rather manly. Kinda hard to mistake him as a girl. And Wu? Elfdoll's Wu seems pretty manly. Have you seen his body? That is one heck of a manly body. But heh. His face can be pretty manly too, in my opinion.

      I've been thinking about this as well since I would like a masculine doll for myself in the far off future.

    3. In smaller scale... Has anyone mentioned D yet? (He's from... who? OrientDoll?)

      That little fellow looks like a miniature Bruce Lee to me. 'Very much a guy, and definitely built like one. He's a shrimp. But he's a pretty ripped shrimp.

    4. do i even need to say Yuuukiiinooojooo? and Hound when properly made up :blush

    5. I'm so used to the male bjd 'look' that I forget how fem they can be - so my opinion may be skewed, BUT my non-bjd friends all thought that Yukinojo was the only truly masculine looking guy in my bunch. And his body impressed them too. I've seen a modded Hound with sideburns and a goatee and he looked kind of masculine - like a skinny bohemian guy. I think the Dolti boy bjd looks alittle bit masculine too. Lots of boys have great bodies, but yeah, their faces tend to be on the pretty side....Alex

    6. Kekeke, Saint >D Dollshe boy bodies are kind of boney and angular, rather than curvy, so... I think even their bodies are more masculine ^^

      Some Volks SD13 boys are decently masculine too, if you faceup 'em right. F16/Lucas have to work hard to be girly, and I have a friend with a School A head... he's pretty, but masculine XD Even with his long hair.

    7. I was thinking that K-doll can look masculine, and Hugo as well. They both seem pretty masculine in the face.

    8. I agree with Yukinojo(no I'm not being very original here XD)and with Paris, and I think Soo Ri is pretty masculine too, a friend of mine has one and well..very hard to mistake him for a girl!

    9. While I agree that the sculpt has a big influence on how masculine a doll looks, the doll's face up, wig, and dress have just a huge an influence. For just about every doll sculpt mentioned in this thread, I've seen at least one that was very, very femmy - even Yukinojo!

      I haven't seen any BJD sculpts that have that ultra-masculine, craggy look - heck, I don't think I've seen many if any male dolls period that have it. (Not even GI Joe.) Part of what makes a head seem masculine is small eyes, a brow ridge, and a defined, square jaw line, and there just isn't all that much of that being sculpted right now. (Yes, I have given this some thought!)

      But I do agree that Yukinojo would be a very good place to start. I also think Soul Doll's Asiter has potential in this area - he's got an interesting jaw line if you look beyond the long eye lashes, eye shadow, and eyeliner...and way too full lips. And Bwiel's Saint is a wonderful example of what he can be.

      And Isao - one of the reasons I have him is that he was the first Super Dollfie I looked at and immediately said "he's male". He's not craggy by any stretch of the imagination, though.

      Marcia.

    10. I was going to add them too, even though it still depends on how a K-doll is styled. I think nofunangie's husband, mr.nofun's Yakuza Kill_U 2nd is a good example of a naturally masculine seeming K-doll.

    11. My mom thought Isao ver. 2 was a girl, and called him pretty :sweat

    12. Link. I saw someone try to do a female Link once, and it just looked really bad. >_>;;; The boy isn't 'rugged' or 'manly' or whathave you, but he's definitely not feminine. XD;;;

      F-16 isn't very girly either. I've never seen a girl F-16 that convinced me, sorry. ^^;

      Isaos make bad girls too. X3

      Though, my dad thought all my dolls looked girly... Until I first showed dad my newly arrived at the time Yukinojo and the immediate comment was 'Now that one looks like a guy'. XD Remus was even wearing his usual long blonde wig at the time... XD

    13. Along with the yukinojo boy, I really do think Soo Ri looks really male...

      and um, the elfdoll boys bodies make them look older to me. =3

    14. Only boys here and there is no question that as far as rugged handsome masculinity it's the Volks SD16 - Yukinoja. Even in longer wigs and softer styles, he's pretty obviously male.

      Elegant masculine - El Elf.

      And there is something about the Dreaming Shiwoo that is undeniably boyish.

      I had a DollTi D and before he left he was the undisputed Man of the lot.

      I've always thought the Hugo mold to be very masculine.

    15. I think Iplehouse Soo Ri and Soom Namu are really masculine. But maybe that is because I know two guys who greatly resemble those too.

    16. I vote Dollshe Saint and Soom Namu. I really can't see either being confused as a girl.

    17. Hounds are pretty masculine (well, not Ciel. He's just pretty >3) but I've seen some that look pretty manly. Besides from the body, since they're really skinny.

    18. i'd say the aforemention dollshe bolls (saint, bernard, husky), yukinoko, soom namu (though i have one and my mom thought he was a girl....), iplehouse soo ri, and iplehouse lion...............

    19. Everyone thinks my Lion is a girl when they see him, and the only clothes he has are boyish :(

    20. Oh yeah, I just remembered - I saw a modded HappyDoll Arthur that had five o'clock shadow, frowning brows and actually looked like an 30ish bum! Sorry if thats owned by someone on this board :-) Alex
