1. It has come to the attention of forum staff that Dollshe Craft has ceased communications with dealers and customers, has failed to provide promised refunds for the excessive waits, and now has wait times surpassing 5 years in some cases. Forum staff are also concerned as there are claims being put forth that Dollshe plans to close down their doll making company. Due to the instability of the company, the lack of communication, the lack of promised refunds, and the wait times now surpassing 5 years, we strongly urge members to research the current state of this company very carefully and thoroughly before deciding to place an order. For more information please see the Dollshe waiting room. Do not assume this cannot happen to you or that your order will be different.

Why do people put up with dolls that can't sit up?

    2. I haven't had that problem but it would be very irritating.

    3. Mine not only cant sit straight but also sometimes just don't wana stay and just bow as if she wanted to say today i don't have the mood to pose :P

    4. My sugarble dolls cannot sit really, or stand, because of the way their thigh joints are done.... Rather, the lack of thigh joints. I'm pretty sure the thighs were the reason the company decided to discontinue the sculpts. In Hindsight I wouldn't have bought the Adela one, I would have still bought my Serena one though. I like her well enough but the body design is aweful.

    5. All mine (dragon doll, IS doll and Ringdoll) sit well and all stand up fairly well. Ringdoll is most stable. I would be pretty annoyed if they didn't, because the posability and weighting of BJDs is one of the things that appeals to me.

    6. I just ended up factoring that into their personalities actually!xD Like one of mine was loosely strung, so he flopped, I never worried about fixing it too much because he just liked to sleep too much! Basically if they don't want to sit I don't make them. I know it's an odd way to look at things though! :P

    7. Though I haven't restrung her yet, my older folks sd13 body has trouble sitting up. But she stands like a dream! on bare high heel feet! A worthwhile trade-off imo

    8. Posing, standing, sitting, all of that is make or break for me. I had a senior delf body taht couldn't sit, couldn't stand, nada. I restrung him twice and then finally gave up and threw in the towel and sold him off. I'd loved the body for ages and just couldn't handle it. I've got a dollmore body I almost sold but managed to get him to cooperate with hot glue sueding so he's sticking around. It super irritates me when I can't have the doll do what I'd like!

    9. Personally its not that big of a deal to me I think. However I have not had a doll that could not sit before, but I have seen people bring dolls that can't sit at meets. They just seem to be really good at making them stand XD

    10. For the price of these dolls one would think sitting would be a no brainer. Sadly it's not. My Lumedoll Tania has to hunch over to sit and my Dimdoll of years ago was so badly designed she just flopped backwards. Study those body pics. And read and watch reviews. Research on any doll is key...one learns this after buying and reselling a number of oops dolls.

    11. I have another to add here. Khale, my Leeke L-type boy on the muscle body from 2011. Gorgeous body, utter crud for sitting and standing. He's got the spinny legs of doom and that presents a problem for both sitting and standing. I was at a doll meet recently and he completely refused to sit on a perfectly flat table and the second I let him go, he'd flop over backwards. I can't complain too hard as I won him and I do love his sculpt and body for the character he is, but it super annoying that he does that. Although, to be perfectly fair, if he's wearing something he likes, I get no trouble out of him and can sit and stand him with only a little fussing.

    12. wile it maybe a lovely doll that could do lots of other poses, personally i dont think i could deal with it if she always flopped wile sitting. my current bjd has to free sit, without anything to lean on. so i need dolls that sit well

    13. I have one that does and it really bothers me. I bought it secondhand so I couldn't complain but I think if I can restring it, it'll fix the problem. Unfortunately I don't know how to restring it, so I'm taking my time learning.

    14. I think my doll can sit, but at the moment she can't because she is in big need of restringing! Which I will do soon :)
I think as long as the doll can stand, some doll owners don't care as much if they can sit. I do prefer dolls that can sit too ^^

    15. My Iplehouse SID girl sits and stands alone perfectly when she is undressed, if she has well fitting clothing on, she has problems sitting but I don't worry about it cause I know it is just the clothing

    16. For the most part, I cannot handle dolls with major posing issues! However, I have a hybrid SD boy whose body is over 10 years old with its original elastic. He is not able to stand and it is difficult for him to maintain poses. Yet, in the 6 years I have owned him I cannot get myself to restring him. His cuddlyness has really grown on me. I love his slouchy attitude!

    17. Ohhhhh yes it bothers me. But as I'm 1) after mature minis and 2) poor as dirt as it is, I really can't just reshell everyone with posing problems: there are not enought mature minis (especially boys) and second hand market is dead so I would lose lots of money. Out of my eight dolls (listed in my signature), Withdolls and Fairylands sit well even though that's about the only thing WD girls are good at. JID girl body is rubbish, as is the older Soulkid N.L body. Apparently peolpe have been complaining about the N.L body, because my second Soulkid poses way better and they sent him with two sets of joints, regulars and no line versions.

    18. I think Iplehouse is one of the worst for this. Their bodies are aesthetically lovely, but the engineering is questionable. I've owned several over the years (3 EID boys, 3 EID girls, a YID girl), sent off two, an original YID girl and an EID Superhero boy, for extensive poseability mods. Still sold them.

However, I think the bodies that frustrated me most were from Domuya. I owned a male and a female of the original Flexi body, and a Flexi-Perennial Fin. No amount of restringing, sueding, wiring, swearing or hand-waving would make them sit or stand reliably. They were incredibly flexible, as in how the joints could be moved, but they couldn't hold a pose. I really loved my Fin, but ultimately sold all of them because they drove me nutters.

I think that's a large part of why my collection has shifted heavily towards Volks. As someone who has owned and messed with a *lot* of doll bodies, they're by far the most reliable and trouble-free when it comes to quality and posing. Although the SDGr girl body still tries my patience from time to time.

    19. I used to put up with my Gentle Freesia becuase I found her to be so pretty and lovely. I actually was not aware of doll companies stringing the dolls very loosely during shipping, so I honestly BELIEVED they were supposed to be one step above ragdolls in terms of poseability. Thankfully that problem was solved during a bjd meetup where people who actually KNEW their stuff helped me out. :sweat

    20. My Amare dolls Millia is kinda hard to pose when i try and get her to sit. she just topples over, It dosent bother me that much because i really like her, maybe thats why people deal with it? Because they like the doll too much :s
