It has come to the attention of forum staff that Dollshe Craft has ceased communications with dealers and customers, has failed to provide promised refunds for the excessive waits, and now has wait times surpassing 5 years in some cases. Forum staff are also concerned as there are claims being put forth that Dollshe plans to close down their doll making company. Due to the instability of the company, the lack of communication, the lack of promised refunds, and the wait times now surpassing 5 years, we strongly urge members to research the current state of this company very carefully and thoroughly before deciding to place an order. Why do you need more than one?

Jul 13, 2009

    1. When I first got my doll it was all lovely just her and I together. She liked the attention and I liked giving it. But over time life kinda takes over and I don't have as much time to spend with her due to massive work and school commitments. Lately I've been thinking that perhaps I should get another doll so she's not too lonely....if that makes sense....

    2. What would I do with all my boys' rejected wigs if I don't get more heads to stick them on? :XD:

    3. Because this hobby can be so addictive. One doll just does not seem to be enough.

    4. Because I like more than one doll for different reasons. If I want a childlike doll, I'll get one. If I want a pocket-sized doll, I'll get one. If I want a tall, lanky boy for modelesque purposes. I'll get one. If I want a doll with a squishable teen boy face, I'll get one.

    5. Well, I have a few things I need the dolls for, so that is why I need a few.

My Pullips i have for dressing up and because I like their look. And a Blythe to take on travels.

Then I have a doll incoming a Zuzu Delf that I plan on using for fairytale photography.

And finally I will get one perfect doll that will be my "elf" girl, that I will use to take nature shots and to be my roleplaying character.

    6. Why do I want to have more than one? Because I'm basing my dolls off of original characters I've already been working on in my head for at least a couple years, and many of them have different styles. I feel, if I brought one of my characters to life and not the others; they'd feel completely lost and alone without the other ones that they've spent so much time interacting with and being together with inside my own head. I know that sounds a little wacky but it just seems too lonely. Plus.. It will make me happy to have more than one. To be able to bring all of my beloved characters to life, and flesh them out in a more physical way.

    7. I also base my dolls off of original characters.

For a long time, I just had my boy, Angelo. I was afraid to get another doll because I didn't want to neglect the first one (as odd as that sounds). But, I love doing romantic type stuff, and it's hard to do that with just one doll. Also, I wrote Angelo as half as a pair. So, I felt like I needed to get his wife, Lily (who would also fulfill my urges to use dresses- Angelo would NOT be happy in a dress). Now, I have both and I am content for now.

I may get their son somewhere down the line, but I think I can stop at two dolls. My boy and my girl fulfil my "doll needs" together, so I wanted more than one BJD.

    8. Because there's more than one that I like, and because I have a lot of characters to turn into dolls!

    9. My answer is: Why not?

As someone else already said, BJDs are luxury items; these dolls are not necessities. I don't buy them because I *need* them. I buy them because I *want* them. And I want more than one, so I'm going to (eventually) get more than one. :)

    10. I think having more than one doll is more fun because you can have them interact in photos. (I guess you can still do that if you have friends with dolls) But there's also a lot of different sculpts that are really pretty. I think it's okay to have a lot of dolls because they're different from each other and have different "personalities" or look better in different clothes.
For everyone, I think the reasons are different.

    11. Because my fixation of my dolls changes and I will get bored with just one.. so having different dolls of varying sizes and sculpts and colors helps keep the hobby fun. I go thru sprees of playing only with my little ones. And then I'll play with my MSD sized slim girl... waiting excitedly for my first bigger doll!! If I had just one... just like a kid does... I'd get bored with it and leave it on the imaginary island of misfit toys never to be played with again. Having different ones to go back and forth with keeps it fresh!

    12. I'm saving up for a second doll because 1) Emiko needs her brother/company with her 2) I've never had a new doll before and 3) I've always wanted to experience a box opening

    13. I don't really need more than one, but I get sucked into stuff. Like when I started out with vinyls, I got Lumpi and he was my doll and I was all set . . . Until my sister bought me Minnie, after which the floodgates were open and now I have six. Now for resin, I just have Tandrelim and I'm happy with that . . . but I've got this great idea for one I'd like to do . . .

    14. I just know I would never feel fully satisfied with just one. I want to have at minimum one boy to dress, one girl to dress, and other sizes to dress and sew for. Then of course there's character ideas and it just spirals from there.

    15. Well I don't HAVE to have more than one... but my darlings get lonely.

    16. maybe because most of us put life on our dollies, we make stories of them, personalities and attitudes..it's kind of hard to make them alive with just one doll..kind of hard to explain also what I mean about that "alive" thing..also isn't it sad to see our dolly all by himself/herself alone..

another I've thought is that since our hobby falls in the category of "collections, or collectibles" (I don't know the right term), or the hobby of collecting..some of us calls ourselves collectors..I think you can't call yourselves a collector unless you have 2 or more of the specific item, in here, a BJD..

    17. It's like a lot of people have been saying: they get lonely. And then there's the idea that different shapes, sizes and genders allow more variety when making clothes, doing face-ups and recording their stories. You start off going "I'm never going to get _____." but sooner or later, you end up doing just that.

    18. For me, it's mostly variety. That's why before getting another msd boy or yosd girl, I want an msd girl and yosd boy, and maybe a PKF sized doll or two...

    19. I naturally collect things in family groups.
For instance when I was young collection I was always given a family of sylvanians, because I used to feel sorry for the lonely one. I form the same psychological attachments to my dolls, so now I have one, I inevetably find myself start planning her family. (It doesn't just stop at dolls and animals either, my RPG characters usually have large families too :sweat).

    20. I wanted 1 doll. I am now getting a second for a birthday present. Right now I do not want any more. At least that is what I keep telling myself lol.
