1. It has come to the attention of forum staff that Dollshe Craft has ceased communications with dealers and customers, has failed to provide promised refunds for the excessive waits, and now has wait times surpassing 5 years in some cases. Forum staff are also concerned as there are claims being put forth that Dollshe plans to close down their doll making company. Due to the instability of the company, the lack of communication, the lack of promised refunds, and the wait times now surpassing 5 years, we strongly urge members to research the current state of this company very carefully and thoroughly before deciding to place an order. For more information please see the Dollshe waiting room. Do not assume this cannot happen to you or that your order will be different.

Why do you need more than one?

Jul 13, 2009

    1. I've never "needed" more than one - or even one, really. But I certainly want quite a few of them. xD My collection has grown over the years because I keep finding sculpts I like. Plus I think it's interesting to have dolls from all different companies, and be able to compare joints and posing and the like.

    2. I don't need a doll. But I want them. This is a luxury item; a hobby; something I truly enjoy.
I currently have one doll, but in a couple weeks will receive another!
I feel like my dolly is getting awfully lonely when I'm not around, and I want to portray another character of mine, so I am getting her a friend! :)

    3. Very good question! After many years though, I found out that I really do not need more than one! Hehe, took some time though!

    4. I want more always and forever.. lol it just happens over night when you deep asleep in dream land!

I always say 1 is enough, then 2 are enough now I have 10

it's always the new member has a reason to join. Now when I look sometimes at my pics I find one of them that look REALLY good the rest are just there lifeless
but then I try to pose them and another one will be just perfect..

      I consider sizes/ characters/ sewing / colors/ thats why 1 is NEVER enough

    5. Like many have said: Because of companionship. ^^

    6. I don't need more than one, I want more than one.

    7. I only have one, I want two more. After that who knows, I just want them. It's like a piece of chocolate, you can't just have one you must devour the entire bar and fantasize about getting more chocolate.

    8. I knew from the beginning I couldn't have just one ;) I write stories / roleplay, and even though I don't use my dolls for that, I -love- making characters. I like writing about them - coming up with their personalities, style, likes, dislikes, backstories, and relating them to other dolls. Being able to bring a character to life or create a whole new one is really exciting.

    9. For me, it's about having a collection. It's also about finding a doll to represent each character in the story I'm working on. I'd like to be able to see the whole set of characters come to life, and display them all as one big set. >w< I think having only one doll to save up for ends up being too short term of a goal; once we end up with that doll, what choice do we have but to save up for the next big thing?

    10. There are to things that factor into me wanting more than one doll: wanting to have my characters in a more physical form and the fact that there are so many sculpts out there that I find are beautiful and would probably want to get purely just to have them. I'm less likely to buy the dolls that I don't have character plans for though, I have to put a limit on myself somehow :sweat

    11. This ^_^;. Well, I never really wanted to fit a doll to a character, but there is a sculpt that fits one of my characters perfectly. It's like she IS her. But When I do get round to getting that particular sculpt, I want to find one to match another character, simply because I love him so much and the customization prospects are rather tempting, though his features would be very difficult to fit to a doll (thinking about dolls and common features, he should be easy, but I have yet to see one that comes near to how I envision him).

Though personally, I don't particularly like seeking out dolls. I look at various sculpts because I like to see photographs and different dolls, and stumble across ones that just jump out at me and I end up wanting them. It's not 'Oh, I must have a doll!', it's 'Oh, I must have this doll!'.

    12. "Why do you want more than one doll?" is like asking an art collector "Why do you more than one painting?"

    13. I like having a variety of sculpts, plus, dressing them up is half the fun!

I'd be changing clothes, eyes and wigs every day if I had just one. >_>

    14. because each doll has a different clothing style, theme and over all is different when i do a face up!
      i don't need more then 1, i just want more then 1.

    15. Well when I started the hobby, I knew I wanted to have more than 1 for a few reasons. One reason was mostly for aesthetic reasons around my definition of a "collection". For me I like collections that range from 3-8. The second reason was that I couldn't pick just one that I liked the most above all others. The final reason was that I really liked the the idea of my doll having some buddies to interact with and building stories and personalities for them.

    16. You may be set on one doll, but you might like others for different reasons, or maybe collecting BJD's is addicting who knows. But with my limited buget maybe one is all I can afford!

    17. For me personally, I want more than one because after I got my first doll I was developing his character and realized I'd like for him to have a sister. Next thing you know I'm totally addicted. Another reason is I want characters with different styles so I can have them wearing different things! :)

    18. I love dolls. Everyone is good on the. If I understand - that this mine, I buy it.

    19. Didn't NEED any...wanted them. I wanted a family...and it exploded. LOL.

    20. I bought my first two dolls within a few days of each other that was in January this year, then I bought another one in February, now I am planning to buy yet another one.... I have no idea where this is leading me?? I always loved dolls and now that BJD's exist I guess I can have a whole family of cute characters... And not go on holidays!! :...(
