1. It has come to the attention of forum staff that Dollshe Craft has ceased communications with dealers and customers, has failed to provide promised refunds for the excessive waits, and now has wait times surpassing 5 years in some cases. Forum staff are also concerned as there are claims being put forth that Dollshe plans to close down their doll making company. Due to the instability of the company, the lack of communication, the lack of promised refunds, and the wait times now surpassing 5 years, we strongly urge members to research the current state of this company very carefully and thoroughly before deciding to place an order. For more information please see the Dollshe waiting room. Do not assume this cannot happen to you or that your order will be different.

Why do you need more than one?

Jul 13, 2009

    1. When I just started I thought I would just choose the only one to be happy enough. I guess, most of BJD-owners thought this way at the very beginning. But then I found more dolls, sculpts, sizes of dolls which I really loved, but more importantly - a million ideas about them and involving different dolls. I realised - I could not put all the ideas into one doll. Every new doll I get I try to make very unique in my collection so they wouldn't be alike. I guess that's the main point for me - many versions, many ideas. I just want to fulfil manyl and that means I have more than one doll.

    2. I don't know.. I just can't hold it >.< well yeah same like others mostly.. at first I think one would be enough. At first I just wanted to have them as photography objects, and dress them with pretty clothes. Well I got really attached by my first doll and came to really lover her. she wasn't an object of photography anymore.. then just found out more and more amazing models out there. I just completely fell in love with bjds more and more! >.< And always thought "wouldn't they make good sisters~" etc.. xD kinda fun i guess!!

    3. For me, I think somewhere around 3-5 would be best, but I don't mean that I'll die without that meany. I think I could also be ok with just 2.

    4. The second doll came to me because the owner wanted to sell him and I felt my heart breaking to see this nice fella not loved, so I took him.
Then I fell inlove with sad eyes of Bluefairy Xiao. And figured, my two boys might need a youngest sister.
And then my boys needed girlfriends, and then I do not remember what happened, but I appeared to be the owner of 29 doll somehow.
I do not know how that happened, honestly. So I can not explain WHY not to have just one?)))) He-he-he!))))

    5. I have to have more than one because each head sculpt is different and I'm attracted to each one differently. One faceup and clothes style may fit one head but not another. It helps me round out my collection.

    6. when I got my first bjds I never thought of getting just one, I planned on getting all the dolls I like/wanted. I even ordered two dolls at one time for my first bjd's ^ ^;;

    7. I'm a collector it's just what I do. I don't think I have one of anything to be honest. By that I don't mean I have doubles of everything but that if there is more than one version of something or others in the same line...I'm gonna end up with more than just one. Green Lantern comics: found out there was an entire spectrum of lanterns....hooked. My Little Pony: wait there's six mane ones each with their own style...take my money. Halo Reach: 6 unique spartans...uh yeah. See the pattern (not sure how I never got into the Power Rangers lol). There are 100s maybe thousands of BJD sculpts available each one with infinite possibilities as to how they look and dress. So yeah I'm definitely gonna have more than one.

    8. With all BJD companies coming every now and then with new molds & new limited editions from different sizes, it's hard to stick to one doll you will always find a new or even old doll that you will want to buy

    9. This is the same for me. I see different sculpts and sizes and my head starts creating ideas or vise versa. The bigger and more detailed these ideas become, you realize that only one doll isn't enough to make these ideas a reality. I mean you could try and make it work, but why limit yourself when the possibilities are endless?

I originally started with my Senior Delf Laila, but once I started creating her character and her world, more characters and more ideas appeared. It also got to the point where my sister got involved and bought her own MSD size bjd. As far as bjds, we're looking to owning altogether 6, we only own two and a head sculpt but the other three are our end goal. I hope that it will stop there, but again the more ideas I add on, more dolls may appear.

I think when you have a starting point, it opens the floodgates to so many ideas that you can't or might not want to stop.

    10. I'm the exact same! After I bought my first Bjd I immediately started looking for another one. I love that they have different sizes and shapes, colors, clothing, etc. With so much to look at and buy how can you just choose one? :)

    11. For me, it's because there are a lot of pretty sculpts that it's hard to choose only one.
That, and I think it's more fun to have more than one BJD, seeing as I think it opens up more photo opportunities?
Added to that, I think it's also because it's fun to have my girl 'interact' with other dolls. xD

    12. Like a lot of people said, I put characters into them, and for me, I use them to write stories, and turn to them as a source for ideas (or I will. I do that with my off-topic/not BJD's right now, and I know I will use my BJD's to do the same thing). Each of my plans for dolls either is going to be "lemme shell this OC", or "I have no one for this sculpt, let's just see how it goes!" And from there, I'd create a character for them, and they'd get their own little story.

    13. Because.... if I don't get more Volaireix won't have his family or friends.

    14. Because there are so much beauty dolls

    15. When I first began looking into BJDs I knew that I'd like to own more than just one,I've always been one to like variety.

Also so there are just too many lovely dolls out there!

    16. I didn't think I would end up getting many BJDs, I decided after getting my first one that I liked (off topic) dolls better. And then my second one arrived and she was the most beautiful thing I'd ever seen and now I'm saving for a third...! Unexpected, but that's life.

    17. I don't want them to be lonely. :aheartbea

    18. Most of my dolls are fanart projects, and single character projects have grown into small casts. Once I got Larten, I found a Darren, and Darren needed an Evra. And Larten needed an Arra. (Now my brain's telling me Evra and Darren need a Debbie, AUGH, why me??) Castiel was supposed to be an only child, but dragged a Dean home not long after, and they're both just going to stare at me until I get them a Sam.

The two OCs I want to shell are inseparable in their storyline, and I know even if I try to just have Ave by herself she'll insist on Sasha coming along eventually...

If I weren't making dolls of characters in stories, and made characters and stories specifically for dolls instead, Elomnia would probably have been enough for me. I'd still probably have Coraline as a model, since El can't really do that with her wings, but I could easily see spending all my time and energy on her. The main reason I have more than one is I enjoy the hobby in more than one way. :)

    19. I need more than one because I like having different families in my doll family. At the moment I have 26 girls with at least 20+ more dolls(2 boys) to go.

    20. Well, it's not really a need but the shelf would certainly look lonely with just one doll.
