1. It has come to the attention of forum staff that Dollshe Craft has ceased communications with dealers and customers, has failed to provide promised refunds for the excessive waits, and now has wait times surpassing 5 years in some cases. Forum staff are also concerned as there are claims being put forth that Dollshe plans to close down their doll making company. Due to the instability of the company, the lack of communication, the lack of promised refunds, and the wait times now surpassing 5 years, we strongly urge members to research the current state of this company very carefully and thoroughly before deciding to place an order. For more information please see the Dollshe waiting room. Do not assume this cannot happen to you or that your order will be different.

Will you choose Chinese BJD company?

Jun 23, 2010

    1. How many of you will take dolls from Chinese BJD company?
Oh definitely. Providing the company has a good reputation and I like the sculpts.
I echo @radient_blue's sentiment re: don't care if they are made in Mars/other off-worlds if the quality is great. :)

Which Chinese BJD company you love most?
Dollzone , CocoTribe (lovely rabbit anthros despite the long wait)

When you decide to take a doll, what's the point you care most?
Sculpt first, then 'fit' for existing doll family concept.

It seems like "made in China" is slowly going through the "made in Japan" transformation of yore where a country known for lackluster quality products slowly migrates up the quality chain in pockets of selected industries. That is encouraging indeed.

    2. Yes that is true. The good workers -are- good workers. It personally doesn't make a difference to me, because I've had a range of products from a range of countries that are all high quality. I've also had a range that are all crap.

China has a reputation for being innovative and good with their hands
China also has a reputation for making "that cheap Chinese crap", like you said, often bootlegs. It doesn't affect the way I buy, I buy what I like :)

    3. Yup, me too XD I like something; I buy, and that's the end of it ^w^

    4. Sure there are a lot of chinese companies dolls I would love to buy. Of course there is the little circumstance that chinese companies don't sell to Mexico, but I can always buy to a dealer ;).
Actually I'm going to get a Doll Chateau (lovely bodies) I wanted Erika, and then I saw they have logos on their heads:(. I perfectly understand people who find those marks cute, but I personaly don't like them.
Don't know if any one reads this or cares, but thought it was a good place to suggest to companies to have as an option to where you want your doll's logo: visible in the outside of the head, or on the inside. That can really make me decide not to buy a doll, now I'm looking for a head to my DC, and is not easy because it is now like a new fashion to most of chinese companies that the logo must be visible on the outside.
      P. S.: I know a wig would cover it, but I just love the smooth surface of a doll, its like puting the logo on the buttock of the doll just because "it doesn't matter, your doll will be dressed so it will not be visible" :sweat

    5. I mostly have Korean dolls but I do really love Chinese dolls too! B&G is my favorite, but I also love Spirit Doll. I just got my first Resinsoul doll, and I much more in love with her than I thought I would be. Impl, Dollzone, and Resinsoul/Bobobie continue to impress me with their new sculpts, too. They seem to just keep getting cuter~

Honestly, though, I would never choose a doll because it was from a specific country. I pick my dolls because I love the way they look, not because they are Chinese/Japanese/Korean/etc...

    6. I bought my first doll from a Chinese company this year. If anyone is familiar with what's been going on with Ringdoll this year, you'll understand why I've been pretty much put off Chinese companies. (In short, it takes over 6 months to receive a doll from them and you get little/no communication from them at all in that time.) Part of their excuse was that the Chinese government had stopped them from being able to access their e-mail account (or something like that), so I guess that makes me scared to order froma Chinese company in case something like that happens and I can't contact them anymore.
I'd still buy dolls from Chinese companies, but I'd only order through dealers, so that I know I won't lose communication like that again.
When I got my doll finally, I was really happy with the quality, so it's disappointing that I probably won't buy much more from Ringdoll in the future.

    7. I have not bought a doll from a chinese company but I would if I like the sculpt from them.

    8. At the end of this year, I will have three dolls and they will all be Chinese - and mostly Dollzone. I feel a bit silly because I'm sticking with the same company that I bought my first doll from, but what can I say: I'm happy with them :D. Nice resin, great posability, sanded seams, lovely hands and feet and sculpts with which I fall in love - why look elsewhere?

    9. Currently I own an Angel of Dream doll, and am in the process of selling a BBB (which I believe is a Chinese company, correct me if I'm wrong).

I know there's some amount of worry about Chinese BJDs, and maybe I am not really in a position to comment since I got my AOD second-hand and my BBB from JunkySpot, but I really like the quality for the price of the Chinese dolls. They're definitely not as detailed as some of the more expensive, non-Chinese brands (Volks eg) but I do love my AOD and my BBB was great, just not the right size for me.

That being said, one of my favorite companies is Iplehouse, and they are Korean. So I guess location of a doll company wouldn't matter to me - what matters is what they produce, and the reputation they have!

    10. How many of you will take dolls from Chinese BJD company?
      - All of my six dolls except for 1 doll and 1 head are from Chinese companies

Which Chinese BJD company you love most?
      - I own an Angel of Dream, Illusion Spirit, Doll Family-H, Ringdoll and BeYours; but my favorite Chinese brand is BeYours because their sculpts are similar to Korean brands

When you decide to take a doll, what's the point you care most?
      - I always consider the face itself. I have to be i love with the sculpt.
I now personally prefer Korean brands; I only bought from Chinese companies because they are cheaper and that was the only thing I can afford before. But there are still Chinese dolls on my wishlist.

    11. Several years ago, I was very wary about buying from Chinese companies as I was very worried about their quality. It's kind of natural to be worried about the quality of Chinese products when almost every other day you hear about defective/dangerous Chinese products or the malicious business practices of companies in China on the news...

Also I just wasn't interested in the sculpts most Chinese BJD companies had to offer, but in recent years, a number of dolls from Chinese companies have caught my eye and I've been hearing good reviews about these companies. So I finally took the plunge and bought a Chinese made doll and have several now from different companies. However, I've bought them all through their HK dealers and not directly from the companies. I just trust their dealers more and there's also a bit of a language barrier for me as though I can read Traditional Chinese characters well, I have trouble reading Simplified characters... I also can't write Chinese so I communicate with HK dealers in English when emailing/messaging them. I have no trouble speaking to them in Cantonese since I was born and raised here.

I must admit that the quality of Chinese dolls does vary quite a lot from company to company though... but overall it's acceptable and on a similar level to most Korean dolls though not quite to the level of Volks yet.

Oh, and I actually buy a lot of doll clothes, shoes, wigs, eyes etc from Chinese companies since they are much cheaper and the quality is generally quite good. I usually go on group orders on local doll forums. Though I have received products that were sub-standard in the past... It's a hit or miss sometimes but generally the doll goods from Chinese companies are a good buy.

    12. I have an Angell Studio Ty, a Dollzone Mo, & have ordered an Impledoll Camilla & a Loongsoul Liu (all of which are Chinese). I've got Korean (Iplehouse) & Japanese (Volks) as well. I really love Mo & Ty - they are fabulous. My only complaint about AngellStudio is the fit of Ty's pants (too tight) but I sew so it's not a big deal - I don't plan on ordering that many clothes.

    13. Seven dolls and a head are from chinese companies (Angell Studio and Dollzone), two dolls and a body from korean companies (Soom, Iplehouse and Dollstown).
When buying a doll I mostly care for its looks and sometimes if it's available with double joints. The dolls I own that pose the best are from Iplehouse (EID) and Dollzone (MSD).

    14. How many of you will take dolls from Chinese BJD company?
Of course I will! My dolls are all Chinese and that's fine. I've purchased from Bobobie, Angel of Dream, and Illusion spirit with zero frowny faces.
Which Chinese BJD company you love most?
Angel of Dream, by far. They have my favorite heads. My dear December was my second AoD doll, but my favorite head sculpt. I have three now, and they all have beautiful faces.
When you decide to take a doll, what's the point you care most?
The head and the pose-ability. The face comes first, they have to fit my personal tastes, and then the body has to fit my requirements of being a good toy. I tend to play with my dolls, so the finished product has to be fun, not just pretty.

    15. Right now most of my dolls are from China including ringdoll, dollzone, Angel of Dream, Resinsoul, 5StarDoll, and I have a Dika Doll comeing but I love them all and could not give a favorite if I tryed they all have there Pors and Cons. I will say I only have one non Chinese doll and that is fariyland so I don't have much to compair them with.

    16. I have only one Chinese Doll a Resinsoul Long, grey skin. I like him very much, his resin is solid and of good quality and his sculpt is beautiful and he stands well and stable. Other dolls that I have are Korean/Japanese in design. For me its the sculpt and especially the face. And if I see one, no matter what the country, and I like it. That's what I get. So far all the companies I have delt with meet with good standards.

    17. I would love to have a 5stardoll Mini, they look so cute! And I like the low prices too, I don't think it means bad quality on this case.

    18. I love Dollzone dolls I have two at the moment and third one coming :) I just love the Dollzone bodies, they are easy to pose and beautiful (and you get them in small bust size).

    19. I have so many Chinese dolls right now tht it is not even funny. i love the companies, and many of them do a lovely job. I Love Spiritdoll and Dollzone...I don't think any other compan could have made the sculpts I needed for these dolls. They are lovely.

    20. I have ordered two dolls from a Chinese company, Resinsoul, and I am very impressed with them both. :D Their prices are more than reasonable, and the quality is very nice.
