It has come to the attention of forum staff that Dollshe Craft has ceased communications with dealers and customers, has failed to provide promised refunds for the excessive waits, and now has wait times surpassing 5 years in some cases. Forum staff are also concerned as there are claims being put forth that Dollshe plans to close down their doll making company. Due to the instability of the company, the lack of communication, the lack of promised refunds, and the wait times now surpassing 5 years, we strongly urge members to research the current state of this company very carefully and thoroughly before deciding to place an order. Will you choose Chinese BJD company?

Jun 23, 2010

    1. How many of you will take dolls from Chinese BJD company?
ME! I love dolls from other countries too, but I've found some gorgeous dolls from China.

Which Chinese BJD company you love most?
      Two.S.Doll

When you decide to take a doll, what's the point you care most?
The lips/mouth and the eyes are what draw me.

Mint on Card carries a wide variety of dolls from Chinese companies. They choose to carry dolls from China because they speak the language, and want to be able to communicate well with the different company representatives.

    2. How many of you will take dolls from Chinese BJD company?
I have three dolls from two Chinese BJD companies, and a body from a third. Two from ImplDoll, which I got straight from the company, and one from Boy&Girl Doll which I got through a dealer. The body is from Fantasy Doll, I'm not the first owner but I believe it was also from a dealer. I love all of them! As only my DoD and the Luts head on the FDoll body are from Korea, Chinese company dolls actually happen to outnumber my dolls from other places at the moment. :3

Which Chinese BJD company you love most?
I don't know if I could pick just one! XD Of the dolls I own, I have dolls from both Impl and B&G on my someday-wishlist. There are lots of Chinese companies I like the aesthetic of.

When you decide to take a doll, what's the point you care most?
The head sculpt is what gets my attention, but I suppose really, what I need to have is quality in a sculpt I like. I don't mind ordering from overseas, country of origin isn't a factor for me, and I've been happy with the quality and service of dolls from all the companies I've bought from, the Chinese ones included. ^^

    3. There are so many Chinese doll companies out there that it's kind of ridiculous to lump their aesthetics into one category.

Companies I want dolls from, Companies I own dolls From,

      1. Dollzone - Very widely recognized and has some of the best posing doll bodies out there.
      2. Doll Chateau - Very unique aesthetic- Sister company to Dollzone
      3. Asleep Eidolon - Incredibly beautiful dolls with a very similar aesthetic to japanese companies. Very high quality products
      4. Angell-studio - Another highly regarded doll company with similar aesthetics to japanese companies.
      5. Spiritdoll - One of my personal favorites. Incredible sculpting and a unique aesthetic. no complaints heard against them tho they tend to be less quick to answer questions.
      6. Popodoll - More beautifull dolls with more amazing posing.
      7. Dragondoll - Another unique looking doll aesthetic.
      8. ResinSoul/BBB- Great fantasy colors. Fun sculpts. Not my favorite overall but I have a few of their dolls and well regarded and great customer service.
      9. Granado - Another one of my favorites. Has shown to be great with customers with more incredible sculpting skills.
      10. LoongSoul dolls - Yet again great posing. It seems that many Chinese companies have amazing posing abilities in their dolls- The facial sculpts are also impressive. 1/4 dolls have a similar aesthetic to Angell-Studio and Asleep Eidolon but their 70cm female sculpts have taken off in a separate direction and I love it.
      11. Only Doll - Great sculpt so far. I don't own any but I've heard good reviews.
      12. Doll Family A - INteresting but nothing I need.
      13. Doll Family H - Wouldn't mind owning a doll but not high on my list.
      14. Impldoll - I own two of their dolls. Ziv is one of my favorites but I modded her so she's not the original sculpt.
      15. Two-S doll - I don't personally like their dolls but they are good quality.
      16. Doll-Leaves- Another great company. More great posers. Unique aesthetic.
      17. Ringdoll - Great sculpts. Impressive. Unique ideas.
      18. Dikadoll - Very amazing sculpts. I loooove them.
      19. 5star doll - Great tinies and minis. I want OT!!!!
      20. B&G doll - I want....but cannot spare time to look and spend the money right now.
      21. Kizdoll - I considered them but have since lost interest because I don't like the bodies.
      22. Angel of Dream - I like some of their sculpts but not my favorite.
      23. Heisejinyao Ziyulinglong - Ooooh, I like them a lot!
      24. Fantasy doll- Not my favorite.
      25. Dream Realm - Yesssss. Amazing. I wish the body had another joint but sculpt great and posing is decent.
      26. Doll-Love - not as easy to find so I can't say I know much about them. I've seen their dolls tho and they are nice.
      27. Illusion Spirit- Not one I pay attn to.
      28. Island Doll - They have some very interesting sculpts. Good quality. Good resin color choice in realistic skintones!!
      29. Or-doll - Not super familiar at all

So with that list I can't believe you wouldn't find something to fall in love with. It's also quite silly to say

      a. Chinese companies don't make good quality dolls considering some of these companies produce some of the highest quality and most popular dolls.
      b. Chinese companies don't have Japanese doll aesthetics because while it's true that a lot don't and it's a good thing since I like diversity, some do. Also Japanese doll aesthetics vary greatly. Have you seen what shows up at doll shows in japan? They go from highly stylized (anime and non anime looking) to highly realistic.

I will say the quality, aesthetic and pricepoints of all these companies vary greatly so if someone lumps them together, it's mainly due to being uninformed. Perhaps they don't realize that DZ/DC, AE, and Angell-Studio are Chinese? These companies are known to produce high quality dolls as well as being some of the more expensive dolls.

Another point is that cheap =/= low quality. I own some RS dolls and they are very good quality. In fact one of the few resins that have the dye going throughout the resin so you can sand the tan doll.

There are a few smaller CHinese companies I've forgotten I'm sure, but I feel sorry for those who choose dolls based on countries considering how beautiful the dolls are. A lot of doll companies are artisan companies with probably only 2-5 employees including the artisan. As such you should be looking at each company on it's own as individuals not thinking about which country they are from and looking at the reputation for mass manufactured items from that country.

Either way from the thread it seems most ppl agree on the point that there are great chinese doll companies out there.

    4. Currently, I have one doll from a chinese company and that Fantasy doll (i own a kemi) I will soon have a Resinsoul/BBB Elf Mei and Mo-2 and Hid from Dollzone!

I cant understand it when people bash the Chinese companies when their AMAZING and very affordable!

    5. QFT. There are a huge range of aesthetics in Chinese dolls, from traditional anime-inspired classic bjd styles, to the thin-nosed sharp-mouthed Chinese dolls, to the super-realistic dolls, to the ones that look more like Chinese opera masks than anything. And anything at all in between.

Lumping Chinese dolls in as less expensive is less and less true, too, as more affordable Korean dolls and more expensive Chinese dolls both mount in number - the old generalisations just don't work any more. Nor do generalisations about quality from a particular country.

We are so lucky to have such a huge range of companies to choose from, and multiple countries of origin.

      Adding to the list:

      30. DD-Anne. Absolutely amazingly adorable tinies, and stunning fullsets.
      31. Mirodoll aka Lostangel. Some really nice idealised bodies and some appealing sculpts, very low priced.
      32. Only-Doll. Beautiful classical Chinese sculpts.

I'm sure there were more... And that's not even counting long-gone companies like Abio Angel/Mythdoll/Wishel.

    6. I fully agree with you there. I personally like the fact at this point there is so many companies to choose from, so you can really go out and find the sculpt that is perfect for a character you might have. I think it also means we are more catered for since we all have such different tastes.

I also believe the old generalizations are dead, but a few stubborn people refuse to believe other wise.

But i think many companies, is simply a wonderful thing.

    7. I have 2 floating heads form Granado, just love in one sight. Their quality are quite good.
I think that it's very lucky for us because there are so many Chinese companies for us to choose.

For me, I like the realistic face. that's the point I care most.

    8. Except for Hong, all my chinese dolls are from the Doll Family line, I really like them because they've managed to find a middle ground for realistic and abstract face sculpts. The next company I want to buy from though is Kizdoll and Ringdoll. Gorge!

And not to get off topic here, but in my opinion, Chinese BJD's may not be as popular as Japanese and Korean makes, but I think it's the American bjd's that I'd debate buying from. The way I see it, the American BJD market is now where the Chinese used to be when they started out.

    9. I've considered Dollzone as well. Although, I won't make the big jump in even considering a doll until I get like a stable job and such. :/

    10. My first doll is from Dollzone..I think China now have some good doll company, and the price actually is ok,not very expensive one..But the most important thing is do we like the doll...

    11. If I like the sculpt I really don't care where the doll comes from (which answers question 3: I go for faces mostly and then I'll check out the body and posability). When my Leira arrived, upon checking out the parcel stamp, I actually went: oh, look at that, she's from China!
Angell-Studio is one of my favorite companies, they keep tempting me (my third is on the way). The dolls are excellent quality, the face-ups are great (stunning, in fact), they come fully sanded and best of all, their customer service is GREAT! Quick responses even in holiday times and they always send face-up pics for approval. Since the prices are acceptable, what more could you want from a BJD-company?

    12. I cannot thank you enough for this post! While most people on this thread don't seem to engage in such radical generalizations, some of the posts on this board make me wonder about some user's "real" reason for avoiding certain countries. I don't care If my dolls are made in Africa or England, or the US or anywhere! If they are beautiful and well made they are worth it!

    13. Of course! I LOVE My Chinese BJDs. I Have a two Dollzone dolls living with me currently, and will continue to buy from that company. Just because they aren't Korean made doesn't mean they aren't beautiful or well-made BJDs. I currently have a Dollzone Wing who has been with me for about 5 years now. He's one of the most solid doll I own, I rarely worry about him breaking (actually I trust his Bulkiness and resin more than my Korean made ones), and he's gorgeous. <3

    14. Playing the devil's advocate here, but I don't think that's true. I know what doll companies are out there and of all Chinese companies you've listed, I only like 1 doll: Dollzone Anson. (it's a shame they had to discontinue her, because I didn't have the chance to buy her) Now, I prefer Japanese companies more and Korean companies a heck of a lot more, because I'm drawn to a certain aesthetic. An aesthetic I don't see in Chinese companies.

Really, it isn't about being uninformed or about not wanting to give Chinese companies a fair chance; we simply have different tastes when it comes to dolls. So what? Why care about what other people like so much? Let's just enjoy the dolls we have.

    15. I'm still brand new at this but have ordered my first BJD from Doll Leaves- I believe they are also Chinese? They did say that delivery would be delayed due to the Chinese new year, but communication so far has been super. I was quite bewidered by the number of companies and available dolls out there, that I just decided to jump in and find out for myself.

    16. i don't have chinese BJD but i plan to get in future.

    17. I just realized, out of the four I have, all of my girls are Chinese and I love them to itty bitty barfle bits. <3

    18. I have one Chinese, one Korean, and one Japanese doll so I think I'm pretty qualified to talk here! XD My Chinese girl was my first BJD and I still absolutely adore her--she's so versatile and can show a lot of emotions. I'd definitely buy from at least Dollzone again, and if I find any other Chinese BJD companies that I like a sculpt from I'll buy it. I'm none too picky where my dolls come from as long as I love 'em.

    19. Even though there is a bad stigma with items made in China, most companies have their dolls manufactured in China anyways so it doesn't really make a difference to me. I haven't bought directly from a Chinese company yet but that is mostly because there hasn't been a sculpt that interested me. I would be a little worried because of the language barrier but since most bjd companies are in japan, korea & china it is a problem that I'm constantly faced with when dealing with the majority of the companies.

    20. Most companies do have a delay for Chinese New Year. I know the Korean company i am waiting for a doll from has delays for the Chinese New Year too. So that is pretty normal.
