1. It has come to the attention of forum staff that Dollshe Craft has ceased communications with dealers and customers, has failed to provide promised refunds for the excessive waits, and now has wait times surpassing 5 years in some cases. Forum staff are also concerned as there are claims being put forth that Dollshe plans to close down their doll making company. Due to the instability of the company, the lack of communication, the lack of promised refunds, and the wait times now surpassing 5 years, we strongly urge members to research the current state of this company very carefully and thoroughly before deciding to place an order. For more information please see the Dollshe waiting room. Do not assume this cannot happen to you or that your order will be different.

Will you choose Chinese BJD company?

Jun 23, 2010

    1. I'll buy a doll from a Chinese company if I love the sculpt, I'm not picky on my doll's brand as long as they're pretty.

    2. Which Chinese BJD company you love most?
I have only bought an AOD (Angel of Dream) MSD and plan on getting more from them as well as one from B&G (Boy and Girl) someday.

When you decide to take a doll, what's the point you care most?
      1. Who the face has potential to be.
      2. Body type and double joints.

    3. I bought through DF-H and I love their dolls! (I believe they are Chinese, at least I'm under the impression that they are XD)
When I'm looking for dolls I have to love their face, then I look at the body. Depending on how much I love the face sculpt, if the body isn't the best, then I'll make an exception. If the body is too weird then I'll most likely pass on the doll entirely.

    4. Right now, all my dolls but one are from Chinese companies. It was pretty much purely by accident: I just fell in love with the sculpts and they just happened to come from Chinese companies. I think right now my favorite is probably 5StarDoll, but I only say that because right now that's where the majority of my dolls came from. Again, not really planned. XD

The biggest thing about what dolls I get is how much I like their faces; after that, I think about posability and size of the doll. But, if I really love the face, that will win over almost anything.

    5. Absolutely. If the sculpt is beautiful and the resin is good quality, I don't think the country of origin is that big a deal.
At some point, I'd like at least one of Hong Kong-based Cocotribe's dolls. I think they sculpts are beautiful and the paint options are lovely yet very very reasonably priced.
I understand people get nervous about Chinese dolls because of the early bootlegs but with all the dolls comming from there now that are made by people who really care about their craft, hopefully it will help erase the sterotype :)

    6. I have a Resinsoul and I've ordered a FantasyDoll,both Chinese companies.
Resinsoul is one of my favorite BJD companies but I don't know about fantasydoll yet.

    7. Chinese dolls arent very good...

    8. ... ... ... Ah, alrighty then.

    9. Probably the best response.

I've a Mirodoll Wind on order, I'm really curious to see what their quality is like - from pics, that's a beautiful body she's got.

    10. Yep! I have a Bobobie girl at home and a DollZone head on layaway (with DZ eyes and an Angell-Studio wig). I don't think it matters in what country your doll was made, but how well they were made and if the aesthetics please you. :) And, of course, posing.
I really love DollZone's sculpts-- they have a good range of cute, beautiful, or handsome sculpts I like that their MSDs aren't super young looking, too.

    11. they make good dolls too...

    12. First reaction to this topic is "..why not? and you don't buy dolls because they are from XX country.."
1: do not purchase dolls just to show off how much money you can throw on "dolls" to others..
2: do not bring up the nation issue to dolls or should I take it further to art...?

each country/ company has their own style, as long as they don't do copycat stuff to others... who knows.. maybe next time I will get Shall from DK Doll^^

    13. Only time I check for the country of the origin is when I have to contact them. Even though there are not probably that much cultural differences actually, I want to do my best to write in polite manner.
As for favourite company, I'd have to say it is Dikadoll. Frankly, I don't know many companies but I've heard nothing but good of them and I've taken liking to one specific sculpt of theirs.

    14. My second, third and fourth best posers are Chinese dolls (the best poser is actually Hawaiian O.o). My two worst posers are Korean. So for poseability, the Chinese get +1
My most detailed and most nicely sculpted body is Chinese. The most sturdy dolls among mine are Chinese. Frankly, I have more positive things to say about the Chinese dolls in my collection (so far 1/2 of my collection), than any of the other, so I see absolutely no reason at all not to choose a Chinese company. In addition, they are cheaper than Japanese and Korean dolls (not to talk about artist dolls), and all Chinese companies I've heard of sand their seams. You don't really get it better than that, imho.

Honestly, I don't even feel like this thread should exist at all. When it comes to all accidentally bought bootlegs of mine (talking CDs and stuff here though, not dolls), the most of them are Korean, so it's definitely not only the Chinese who makes cheap copies of stuff, if that's what this thread is hinting at.

    15. I currently have one Chinese doll which is from DF-H and I love him. I'm putting another doll from them on layaway next month in fact. I also plan on purchasing a doll from IslandDoll.

    16. I don't see the difference between most of the Asian companies personally, but if I had to pick a favorite chinese company it'd be Resinsoul. I just love how photogenic their dolls are, just a bit of wiring and they pose awesomely too. That, and my first doll -who I totally don't have serious favoritism towards *wink**wink*- is from them.

    17. I have a DZ Aurora and Deer Boy, and a ResinSoul An who I love to death. ResinSoul dolls don't come in strung the greatest, but little Evra gets all the love in my house even though he's a bit floppy and his posability is ... less than perfect.

The stringing issues are really my only gripe with RS. They make great first dolls, and they're super affordable. I'd recommend them to the newbie as well as to the experience doll person looking for something to customize the hell out of.

    18. I think it may have been more of a "big deal" several years ago, when the hobby was very new and there were far fewer companies. Now, it's not really a big deal at all because there are so many companies, especially from China, and their quality is comparable to dolls from the more highly touted Korean and Japanese companies. BUt, I think there are a lot of little factors that might add up to creating the impression that Chinese dolls aren't as good as their Korean and Japanese counterparts.

Dollzone (as far as I know, one of the first well-known Chinese companies) had a bad reputation, when I first joined the hobby 6 years ago, because they had allegedly recast a Luts/CP limited head. They have since shaken off that poor rep. There is also the undercurrent that some Japanese or Korean dolls are "status symbols" within the hobby. (I think it's more of an overused trope. There probably are some people who think that, but mostly what I've read here is that the majority of collectors don't view those dolls in that light.)

Also... I know in America, a lot of times, there is a cultural/possibly political undercurrent/thing where goods from China are considered "cheap/not as good" as items that are "American made," regardless of the fact that they may be of comparable quality. That way of thinking may get passed onto Chinese dolls.

    19. How many of you will take dolls from Chinese BJD company?
I've had a few different dolls from Chinese companies.
Angel of Dream, Dollzone, Doll Chateau, Fantasy Doll, and Custom House

Which Chinese BJD company you love most?
      Dollzone is my absolute favorite!! They come up with the most amazing fullset designs for dolls ;3;

When you decide to take a doll, what's the point you care most?
Just that it suits me. It's kinda hard to explain, but I'm just like "hey, I like that doll!"

    20. I have two Chinese dolls.
      5stardolls Aiden and Impldoll Mandy.
I'm very satisfied with their quality and sculpts.
Also always pleasant service. I'll ordering again with pleasure!
