1. It has come to the attention of forum staff that Dollshe Craft has ceased communications with dealers and customers, has failed to provide promised refunds for the excessive waits, and now has wait times surpassing 5 years in some cases. Forum staff are also concerned as there are claims being put forth that Dollshe plans to close down their doll making company. Due to the instability of the company, the lack of communication, the lack of promised refunds, and the wait times now surpassing 5 years, we strongly urge members to research the current state of this company very carefully and thoroughly before deciding to place an order. For more information please see the Dollshe waiting room. Do not assume this cannot happen to you or that your order will be different.

Will you choose Chinese BJD company?

Jun 23, 2010

    1. Uhhh, I mean, I would order from a Chinese company if I liked the sculpt. They don't have sculpts that I particularly want though. Not on the top of my wishlist, no.

    2. My favourite bjd-company is Ringdoll, I love most of their dolls. And I own some of them too.

    3. My first BJD will be from Angell-Studio, which I believe is a Chinese company

    4. Some of the early Chinese dolls didn't appeal to me their aesthetic was sort of 'cheap' knock-off type versions of some of the better made Japanese and Korean companies. But now some of the original work coming out of China is very unique and more 'artisticly sophisticated'.

I have a Xagadoll Sylvie which was an impulse purchase at Dollism from MOC. Early this year I added a Spiritdoll Camelia and Bastet. I find the quality comperable to my other dolls and the scale mature 1/6 and 1/2 very well-executed. I would definitely buy again from either company.

    5. I have a doll on layaway from DollZone, and I am starting to fall hard for Ringdoll. So, I technically have bought from a chinese doll company, and will do so again in the future. I've also bought clothes and accessories from a chinese company.

    6. I have one SD full doll, a SD floating head, and a tiny -all from Doll Leaves (a Chinese company). I will most likely buy from a Chinese company again in the future. Dollzone is an endless source of fascination to me.

    7. My favorite Chinese BJD company is Granado. Their dolls are realistic to perfection. The engineering of the bodies is excellent. And their business model, response to customer service according to customer reports is top of the industry.

    8. I don't understand the question, why would you not buy a doll from a Chinese company? The only guess I have is because of copies and knock-offs. If you are buying from the company that designs the doll, there should be no problem with avoiding a recast.

If there is another problem, I don't see it. My husband and I went to China for a 3 week tour, and have a wonderful time. The Chinese people were so friendly, sending their kids up to us to proactive their English. Of course, you can barely scratch the surface of any country in just three weeks, so as it has been a number of yearssince we were there, we are wanting to go back. Maybe this time we could visit a doll company.

    9. Yes, it's a weird question. I think many years ago there were few BJD companies in China, and there was the counterfeits/knock-offs problem. But now there are some fantastic China-based BJD companies, and no good reason not to buy... Unless someone happened to have some biased feelings, but that's their own business, I think.

    10. Yes, I think this 6-year-old question needs to die. Years ago Chinese dolls had a reputation as cheap and poorly sculpted. I don't think the reputation was deserved even then, and the situation has changed drastically in the last decade.

    11. Angell Studio is the only Chinese company I fancy as of the moment.
I am more attracted to korean brands.

    12. I like Dollzone sculpts recently. The most important point for me is resin quality and sculpts detail. I haven't bought any doll from Chinese BJD company yet though.

    13. I used to think bjd is mostly Japan and Korea, but it turns out that 5 of 6 dolls in my wishlist are chinese (from 2 different companies) and 6th is thai lol

    14. right now all the dolls I want and realistically will be able to get relatively soon and the ones I desperately lust after and will have to wait for are Chinese companies; Doll Leaves and Only kids for the first three that are reasonable for me to think and act on and LoongSoul [that has some dolls I really really love] and Dika have the dolls I dearly desire and will have to wait [and probably lose]

    15. By looking at my crew, it appears I tend to prefer Korean larger dolls and heads, but Chinese smaller dolls and bodies. My favorite Chinese companies are Doll Chateau and Asleep Eidolon. When I decide to buy, I go by what fits the look I want which depends entirely on the character. I wasn't even 100% sure what country some of my dolls I got secondhand came from. As long as they are high quality, pose well and look nice, country of origin makes no difference to me.

    16. If anything I would even venture to say that I personally think that most of the quality dollmakers are now, in fact, Chinese. There's a small handful of Korean companies that I think are still strong, but I largely believe that most of the Korean and especially Japanese companies are just still riding on the coattails of their own success from five or ten years ago, whereas a lot of the Chinese companies have really stepped up the game in terms of innovation, customer service, and style diversity.

    17. How many of you will take dolls from Chinese BJD company?
I have taken about 4 so far. but I think I'm planning on sending them for adoption ;n; since I can't afford to take care all four of them. ono

Which Chinese BJD company you love most?
      Dollzone, definitely !

When you decide to take a doll, what's the point you care most?
I care most on their faceups, their joints as well cleaning their body every few weeks.

    18. I have bought from a Chinese company - Ringdoll and he is great! I have gotten Only Doll and Illusion Spirit also, and of course my first doll was a Resinsoul.

    19. Myou doll is a chinese company and i have a bjd from them. I think their dolls are great! lately i've even seen that they're gaining popularity too

    20. I like Korean brands a little more, but would definitely buy Chinese.
