Will you choose Chinese BJD company?

Jun 23, 2010

    1. i dont like to buy from bjd chinese companies i prefer korean

    2. Chinese studios I find are more exploratory with their molds OR really traditional. Like the ones I love, DZ, Ringdoll, Resin Soul, all totally innovative and doing things you don't see the other ABJD makers do.

    3. Which Chinese BJD company you love most?
Really like Doll Family, I'm actually thinking of getting two of their H line 26cm dolls!

When you decide to take a doll, what's the point you care most?
Hmm, I just want them to be cute. When I look at dolls online I love the different ones and how diverse they are these days, but I still like the ones I own to be very plain and wear normal clothing.

    4. How many of you will take dolls from Chinese BJD company? I definitely would, and do! I own 7 dolls from Chinese companies, with another two on layaway, and plans for 3 more in the future. ~_~ My girls from Chinese companies are adorable, have GREAT default face up options, and are generally my best posers.

I do own a few Japanese (Volks) dolls that are good quality in terms of resin. However, I think that Volks is a bit behind in terms of body aesthetic and posability. Their SDGR bodies are great, but still not really accessible. The SDC bodies pose well, but I can't say I'm terribly fond of their other MSD/SD sized bodies in terms of appearance or posability. Why is it so hard to get their best (SDGR) body? No idea.. It's really annoying, though. I paid top dollar recently for a Lina Chouchou MSD, and while she is really really cute in the face, the engineering of her body leaves much to be desired. Some of her joints are useless, and her arms may as well be single-jointed.

The Korean dolls I own are really hit-or-miss in terms of quality, yet they almost always command higher prices than Chinese-made dolls. Luts dolls are good quality, for the most part, but I think they are a bit behind in face-up quality. Their Limited face ups are fantastic, but their standard/default ones are often rather lacking in personality or intricacy. I know that people have issues posing some of Luts' bodies, too. Some, but not all. And I am saying this as an owner of a few Luts dolls, myself. I adore my girls from Luts, but those that aren't Limited are definitely getting artist face ups, and I'm pretty sure my incoming girl from them will need sueding.

I am not all that impressed by Fairyland's (Korean company) quality control, and I feel that some other Korean companies are really falling behind in terms of body functionality/posability. Souldoll is taking more than 6 months to fill orders recently, and their dolls don't even pose well. (Though they are really pretty.) Iple is pretty fast in production, and their sculpts are just lovely, but, again, bad overall posing for a premium price tag.

Which Chinese BJD company you love most? Angell-Studio is my favorite, and then I really love Huajing Doll, Xagadoll, and Asleep Eidolon. :)

When you decide to take a doll, what's the point you care most? Cute sculpts and good posing ability. The Chinese companies that I love most are really good at these things.

    5. When I first got into BJD years ago, I didn't see much from Chinese companies, so I never really considered it. I ended up falling SO in love with a sculpt from Doll Family H and it became my first BJD! I think it's way more likely that I'll buy from a Chinese company again. Angell-Studio is beautiful, and I'm in love with their bodies and their poseability!

    6. Which Chinese BJD company you love most?
      LLT:
My Roderich is from this company, and I have been admiring Ahaz--if only he weren't so big!

Granado: I love Granado's doll bodies and the small [and therefore proportionate] eyes for their heads. I have a Mads head and a Female Nuevo body from this company.

Doll Legend: They make my favorite jointed hands (because the pad of the thumb is articulated) and I like my 70cm male body from this company. They understand how to make multiple joints function well (as opposed to adding them merely for show).

Dollzone: I like the new body sculpts from this company--both the 60cm and 71cm. I have the new 71cm body and it poses very well.

Impldoll: Impldoll is probably my favorite Chinese company because their new sculpts are both poseable and realistic. They also seem to be very accommodating (selling doll parts not sold separately on their website and offering custom colors). I also appreciate that they sell tan dolls year round (not special/custom order).

I am also a huge fan of Xagadoll, although I own none of their sculpts.

When you decide to take a doll, what's the point you care most?

Really how well the sculpt fits the characters matters the most (which has less to do with the doll company--my dolls are hybrids from 15 (?) different companies), but the accessibility of the sculpt and the flexibility of the doll company (selling the head/body separately, selling multiple resin colors, and selling resin parts) can break a tie between two sculpts I like.

    7. Oh my yes! Definitely do buy dolls from China.

The company I love most? I can't say. I buy from smaller companies and artists. Maskcat Dolls, Oasis Doll, and I also like Be Yours Doll. Some bodies from Doll Zone are nice but I'm not a fan of their face sculpts. Ring doll has some fatastic characters and I will look at them when I decide on a male doll...

Why I choose a doll? Definitely the face. I like realistic faces and realistic graceful bodies for girls. For boys, not too skinny. I prefer men to the boys. Mini size girls as children without breasts.

    8. Some of my favorite bjd companies are chineese! Part of it is because I'm on a budget and Chinese companies are on average more affordable due to lower cost of living in china compared to Japan and Korea- part of it though is just conincidence, for example, I happen to love doll chateau's aesthetic.

I'm currently waiting for my first doll, a resinsoul! :3nodding:

    9. I don't think it really matters whether a doll is from a Chinese company if you really love it.
My first doll was actually from the Chinese company Resinsoul. He is a Resinsoul Bao and I love him to pieces.
I would have to say that Dikadoll is my favorite Chinese company.
I care the most about the doll's face when buying a sculpt.

    10. How many of you will take dolls from Chinese BJD company?
Out of my seven dolls, four are Chinese, three are Korean, and all of the dolls on my wish list are made by Chinese companies. The Chinese doll companies have so much creativity and variety in their sculpts nowadays. I also really enjoy just looking at the costumes and styling of the dolls on their web sites and eBay listings.

Which Chinese BJD company you love most?

Doll Leaves is my favorite doll company in general. I think their sculpts are incredibly beautiful, and I hope to have another one some day.

When you decide to take a doll, what's the point you care most?
The facial features speak to me the most. If I am drawn to a face for some reason, I will keep returning to look at it on eBay or another site, and the obsession will grow from there.

    11. I'm so deeply in love with my SpiritDoll Lemongrass it's not even funny. I'll definitely get another one from them someday! They have just the nicest bodies and their Innocent line have the sweetest faces...

My one complaint though was that they weren't very good at communication - there was an issue with my order and they cancelled it, but I had to contact them to get it resolved. That was five years ago, though - I hope they're better about it now.

I think IslandDoll is also Chinese? And I both love my An An and will hopefully be buying from them again, so that's two companies, actually!

    12. How many of you will take dolls from Chinese BJD company?
I have bought Chinese dolls and will definitely do so again. My current favorites are Chinese.

Which Chinese BJD company you love most?
There are two I couldn't live without - Granado for their heads (YAY for realistic guys in the ~65-68cm range!), Mirodoll for their bodies and absolutely fantastic customer service. Those are the only companies I still follow near-obsessively because they make exactly what I need and are compatible.

When you decide to take a doll, what's the point you care most?

Aside from the sculpt fitting my character and being the right scale - hybridability and whether or not they sell heads and bodies separately. I like to mix and match. :)

    13. So far, out of pure coincidence, all of my dolls have come from Chinese companies. Ringdoll; love my grown boy. Mystic Kids; waiting on him, but love the affordability and cuteness. DollFamily-A; waiting on a practice head, but again it was affordable through Alice's Collections. Company location is not part of my criteria; aesthetic, cost, quality, and customer satisfaction are what I look at before buying.

    14. How many of you will take dolls from Chinese BJD company?
I make hybrids, but I think that so far my collection is mostly Chinese. My Island Doll Sparkle head, my BeYours body, my incoming La Legend de Temps Red Dove head. The bodies I have been looking at for the heads have also mostly been Chinese. I didn't plan on it, but things just happened that way. The only thing not Chinese so far is my Migidoll Ell head.

Which Chinese BJD company you love most?

I really like Granado. I don't plan on getting one of their manly men, but I do like looking at their stuff and their Female Nuevo body is my dream body for my girl. I also like LLT and Impldoll.

When you decide to take a doll, what's the point you care most?
Whether I can see a character for them. The three sculpts I have just struck me looking at them, so I got them and I am now trying to hybrid suitable bodies. There are other things like aesthetic, posebility, cost (yes, cost), and whether they match. But those are mostly for the body, and that follows the character of the head sculpts. The criteria for head sculpts is just the ability to grab me.

    15. I don't care where a company is based as long as it is reliable and produces high quality products. My favorite Chinese companies are Dollzone and Oasisdoll. I love Dollzone for their unique designs-- especially the tinies! I love Oasisdoll because their head sculpts are absolutely gorgeous. Aesthetic is the most important thing to me when choosing a doll to buy.

    16. I have a Doll Family A Milu and he is stinking cute!

    17. I only have dolls from Chinese companies and I don't really see that changing? It's not so much the prices than the fact that I just prefer the aesthetics of Chinese companies. Maybe because the first BJDs I was really interested in were all Chinese.

    18. How many of you will take dolls from Chinese BJD company? *raises hand*
Which Chinese BJD company you love most? Resinsoul-- it's the only Chinese company I've ordered from, but I had such a great experience with them, and I love my little deer girl so much... I have several more dolls from Resinsoul on my wishlist. Balancing out the good and bad points of all my dolls, it seems to me that it doesn't matter how expensive they are, I wind up enjoying them all the same.
When you decide to take a doll, what's the point you care most?
I care about the doll being right for the character I want it to represent-- so it's a mix of face, color, and also the body. In the case of Resinsoul, they always offer many resin colors, and will do custom colors for a small fee also. So for characters with darker skin, or who are aliens or fantasy creatures in different non-human colors, it makes them a good option.

    19. My chinese MYOU Delia is a better poser than my korean Souldoll girl. By a long shot. I mean, part of that is my souldoll girl is too tightly strung and I'm still pretty new to the hobby and am still learning what I can do about that (for now, she's spending all her time in a kneel to try and stretch out a little bit), but part of it... My MYOU girl's joints just feel more solid to me! Plus, I really do love her sweet face, she's won over just about everyone she's met--it's why I was happy to order her as opposed to a doll from another company, even though I've been in love with Souldoll's sculpts for about seven years now.

To tell the truth, if you're ordering from a legit company that makes original sculpts, does it make that much of a difference where you're ordering from? If I found out some random dude in a shack in the mountains sculpts and casts his own dolls next to his moonshine still with a shotgun standing by for the coyotes, I wouldn't count out ordering from him until I got a good look at his work.

    20. Right now, my only doll is a DikaDoll Shall. He's lovely! I think DikaDoll is a Chinese company.

To be honest, I don't really know where most companies are located. I know Soom is Korean, and Volks is Japanese, but those are really the only two I can "locate" off the top of my head. I'm really not concerned about it at all. If Chinese companies are a bit less expensive, I suppose that's nice, but in the end I'm only going to buy a doll based on sculpt. I'm not interested in what country the company is from. After reading this thread, it looks like most people feel the same.
