Will you choose Chinese BJD company?

Jun 23, 2010

    1. How many of you will take dolls from Chinese BJD company?
In all honesty I don't really care what company they come from, weather its Japanese, Korean, Chinese, American, whatever, just as long its a mold I like and just as long as quality is good, narrowing things down with Chinese companies doesn't really matter seeing as sometimes their quality and price is pretty good. (Always research pals! ;3 )
Which Chinese BJD company you love most?
I don't really have a favorite Chinese company seeing as I've stumbled upon a few though if I had to choose I'd certainly choose Resinsoul(Apparently their Chinese...right? XD)
When you decide to take a doll, what's the point you care most?
Hmm, the point(s) i care about most would be the mold, and quality?

    2. How many of you will take dolls from Chinese BJD company?
I already took , and I hope there will be even more great sculpts in the future :D

Which Chinese BJD company you love most?
Spirit Doll is one of my most favorite chinese companies, then there is Angelsdoll who starts to make some really great sculpts :aheartbea
Then I own an Dragon Doll body which is amazing - there is still no other choice for me for hybriding Mecha Angels ;)
AOD female bodies rock (while I cant stand males estheticwise.)
      Angel Street bodies are great.
Hmm naturally Dollzone, the best poser ever IMO!
And yes my cute Angell Studio Girl <3
Oh and last bot not least Resinsoul, I had Long, who I sold cause I dont liked single jointed arms, but Id love to buy him back to hybrid him onto Dollfamily body ;) (Or RS improve the arms of 70cm bodies!!!)

When you decide to take a doll, what's the point you care most?
3 Points: how I like the head sculpt, the body and naturally the price.
The quality of resin and sanding was mostly great by the companies I called above <3

    3. One word- Dragondoll.

Awesome quality for the price, best mobility in a body I've had, fantastic sculpts- 'nuff said, right? XD Chinese companies are really moving up in the BJD world, I think, to which I say "Keep on' truckin'". Any company that can bring home one of my dearest characters in such a perfect fashion is alright by me. XD (And in tan!! Squee!!)

'Sides, does it really matter anymore? Sure there've been piracy/quality control issues, but DoA is such a huge community now-a-days it's hard not to know a knock-off or a lower quality doll when it's released. Chinese company or no, if you don't trust it, post a link before you buy, I'm sure someone on the forum will call it right off, or at least speculate. Any country now has the ability to produce low-quality resin, not just companies from China(CCC for example. Yum, eye spurs. XD, jk.). XDD I dunno, BBB/Resinsoul/Rindoll/Dragondoll- I loves 'em, and I hope they keep creating for many years to come. ^^

    4. How many of you will take dolls from Chinese BJD company?
I always look at the sculpt and if I love it, it doesn't matter where it is from. But first, I will do my own little research, like testing out their level of customer service, before buying (I do that even for my Korean dolls). Also, I will only buy from companies (Chinese or Korean or otherwise) with at least a decent reputation (e.g. company reviews), since I am paying so much for a doll and they also need time to make a doll, so trust is pretty important. So yes, if a chinese company can fulfil these little requirements of mine, I would take dolls from Chinese BJD companies; in fact, I am waiting for my tiny from Angell Studio.

Which Chinese BJD company you love most?
So far, I've heard DollZone, Ringdoll and Angell Studio as some of the more popular Chinese ones (I may have missed a few?). I do like some of their sculpt~ and some of Spiritdoll's works look rather cool! I do not have any prior experience with the other Chinese companies so I can't comment much. But for me, I really love Angell Studio's customer service and a few of their dolls.

      To quote:
When you decide to take a doll, what's the point you care most?
      1. Sculpt, which I must love, and the doll's overall + potential look
      2. Customer service (including before-sale/during-sale/after-sale services)
      3. Reputation - e.g. not known for unreasonably looooooong waiting times, sloppy work or unresponsive service

    5. ^This. I don't care where the doll is from as long as I like both the face, the body and the way the joints are integrated into the sculpt. Here's the rub so far: I did not find a single Chinese doll I like. Perhaps in the future this will change.

    6. I agree with Cenarius and Silk, personal taste is more important to me than having a doll from each country that produces them. I have had Chinese and Korean dolls in the past and I wouldn't rule out more in the future, but for now I'm blissfully happy with the Japanese dolls I have now and I don't see that changing any time soon.

I'm also concerned with customer service and reputation within the hobby, regardless of location. I automatically rule out or rule in companies based on their reputation, so a company with frequent problems and bad customer service can't expect me to spend money with them, whether they're Japanese, Korean or Chinese. On that score there are certain companies I absolutely will never buy from, no matter how beautiful their dolls or how original their work is... if I can't put my trust in a company to make my doll, deliver it in secure packaging, do everything they possibly can to guarantee it will arrive safely, I will not give them my money.

    7. Yeah, I'm in the "personal taste" camp. I currently own:

2 Angell Studio dolls (have previously owned a third and my fiance also has one)
      1 Dollzone
2 Soom (have also previously owned 2 more)
1 Iplehouse (have previously owned another one)
      1 Angelheim
1 Fairyland (have previously owned 2 more)
And I have a Dollfie Dream on the way.

I can't remember off-hand which companies are based where apart from AS and DZ, but of all my dolls my Angell Studio ones have been by far the best quality of them all. They're not necessarily the best posers or the most dynamic bodies, but with a little bit of work they can be, and the resin quality is second to none (my AS dolls in particular are especially well-made, but maybe I'm just biased 83).

I have also previously owned dolls from several other companies (yes, I can never decide until they're here if I want them or not :XD:) such as Bobobie and Peaks Woods. I pick them for their sculpts, not for their country and generally don't mind too much if the resin quality isn't amazing. I won't buy a doll if I don't like it, which is why I actually don't have a zillion Japanese dolls. The quality may be amazing, the customer service second to none but... if the doll doesn't attract me then "meh".

I love my Chinese dolls <3

    8. If I like the sculpt and the quality is excellent and the customer service is excellent also, and they offer this at a reasonable price with goodies, like outfits available, shoes, wigs,... I'm not too concerned what country the doll is from nor where the company has their manufacturing plants at. I love my Chinese Dolls !

    9. Heh, I doubt anyone could accuse me of having taste. I was irrationally drawn to Impldoll's Miguel, with lips that look like they belong on a Michelangelo statue and a nose normally seen on a bust of a Roman scholar. . . fused with a Giger Alien. . . well, he pushed all the right buttons I guess. If I had the money his off topic cousin would be coming home too. I haven't gotten to experience it first hand but from the reports of others, Impl's customer service is first rate. But my layaway with them is going smoothy. :)

Since most of my floating head museum consists of Minimees, characters no company in any country makes as a part of their line-up, it doesn't matter who makes what. Although. . . I contemplated Dollzone's Yue as a good stand-in for Cloud. ;)

Now should Kotobukiya get into the BJD business and employ Takayuki Takeya to sculpt "Nightmare" and "Albinone" as dolls. . . expect to get blown out of the way. . . because I'd be the first to buy them no matter what the price.

    10. Why not? I own a Oasisdoll Yaoyue and she is as lovely as a Volks or Soom doll, or may be more!!! I don't really understand this grudge with Chinese companies, if what they offer is nice and it's quality is good, I don't see where is the problem.

    11. I just got my first Chinese BJD, a B&G doll Nailo Elf fullset. He's beautiful, and I think his quality is just as good as the dolls I've gotten from Luts and Dollmore. His seams are all sanded and it feels like his entire body might have been MSC-coated to protect him from yellowing. I'm very impressed.

As for what makes me choose a doll, I have to say probably face sculpts. I especially love pointed ears. I can never resist the elves, no matter what company they come from.

    12. I agree with others who have said they buy dolls based on personal tastes and customer service. That, to me, is far more important than the country of origin. I don't scope out where a company is located before I decide if I like a doll, and I browse doll company websites regardless of country.

    13. I don't really pay much attention where the company is from.
I just like whatever sculpt I like. Lol. XD
      Unfortunately, I don't have any from China at the moment. Both of mine are from Korea. o uo;

    14. I have 2 from Dollzone.
One arrived damaged. Dollzone stepped up and replaced the broken part no questions asked.
I'll buy from them again both for quality and customer service.

    15. How many of you will take dolls from Chinese BJD company?
      I would, I already have one :3
Which Chinese BJD company you love most?
It's hard to say. I tend to admire them all. Though there are companies I watch more than others. Mainly if there are more boy dolls than girls.
When you decide to take a doll, what's the point you care most?
For me its the face that matters. Bodies can always be changed or tweaked a little. I also prefer male dolls.

    16. I totally agree with the :aheartbea, they have lovely lovely sculpts, but actually [small voice] they're Korean.

Grapevine is that the single-joints are being phased out and replaced with double-joints. :)

    17. How many of you will take dolls from Chinese BJD company?

XD As many as they will sell me. I've got four now, and plans for several more!

Which Chinese BJD company you love most?

I don't think I have ~A~ favourite, but I like the one's I've gotten dolls from so far. I have one Dollzone boy, a DollFamily boy, a ResinSoul boy and a hybrid BBB head on a ResinSoul boy body. XD All of them are beautiful, and unique, and are of the most fabulous quality, totally finished before I ever touched them.

When you decide to take a doll, what's the point you care most?

Hmmm.... It depends on several factors. First of course is the face. Do I like this face, does it work for my guy?

The second is quality, is it a finished product, or is it still unfinished, will I have to sand the seams off it, or do they already come that way? So far all my dolls have been sanded before I got them, even if I didn't order a face-up for them. My Sprite and my Wind both came without faces or eyes or anything, but they were fully sanded, with no seams. I can understand companies who do coloured resins, or special tans not wanting to sand too much on them, but some of it just seems like they don't WANT to finish it. I know they're customizable, but if it's a finished product, finish it already.

And then there's the customer service. There are companies who make lovely dolls, but their customer service is HORRIBLE. I wouldn't do it, no matter how much I want something. I'd rather wait and find something else or buy it second hand.

    18. How many of you will take dolls from Chinese BJD company?

XD As many as i like them :)

Which Chinese BJD company you love most?

DollLove, but as journalist i like Angel Studio too.

When you decide to take a doll, what's the point you care most?

      I completely agree with KarieChaos

    19. If you want to discuss the merits of sanding vs. not sanding try here. The long and the short of it is, a BJD with seams is a finished doll. Barbie dolls have seams and no one accuses Mattel of not doing their job properly ;) Seamlines are a result of the casting process and are time-consuming to remove safely which is why there are customisers in the Marketplace willing to sand your doll for you for a fee and why many doll companies will remove seamlines for an additional cost. We don't know the breakdown costs of producing a BJD in China, so we don't know whether this service is considered included in the price of the doll or a freebie extra.

    20. Both of the BJDs I have on-order are from China! Angel of Dream and Bobobie are both Chinese companies, and I'm certain I won't be disappointed! My only real worry out of both of them is that my light tan Bobobie Eric won't be a dark enough shade of tan for the character he's meant to be, and even that's fixable with a bit of RIT dye ;) I've heard wonderful things about Bobobie, and the AoD tiny I'm getting is just plain too adorable to pass up regardless of any flaws he may or may not have!
