1. It has come to the attention of forum staff that Dollshe Craft has ceased communications with dealers and customers, has failed to provide promised refunds for the excessive waits, and now has wait times surpassing 5 years in some cases. Forum staff are also concerned as there are claims being put forth that Dollshe plans to close down their doll making company. Due to the instability of the company, the lack of communication, the lack of promised refunds, and the wait times now surpassing 5 years, we strongly urge members to research the current state of this company very carefully and thoroughly before deciding to place an order. For more information please see the Dollshe waiting room. Do not assume this cannot happen to you or that your order will be different.

Will you give up to buy a doll because of others' bad compliments?

Sep 3, 2010

    1. Only one person is allowed to help me pick out dolls and I usually pick them based on what we both agree on...Cause we're both gonna be looking at 'em...That person...My mom. She knows me better then anyone so I trust her judgement if she says one sculpt looks off compared to another, helps me think it through...Though of course with my tiny, Veronica and with Noah I didn't show her either one of them until I had them secured..XD Hee. Sometimes ya gotta take the plunge solo.

    2. No, definitely not! My family hated the pictures of my latest doll before I bought him, and it was discouraging, but in the end I decided it's my decision really, and he was just what I wanted.

    3. Of course not. I buy what I love, and I don't care if other people hate the sculpt.

    4. No I would not give up on a doll I thought I would like. Not everyone has the same taste.

    5. Hmmm...it depends. Regarded quality issues I would probably reconsider my decision but the look is just matter of personal preferences and I'm pretty sure some dolls I love will be disliked by others and vice versa. :)

    6. The only thing that matters is that you (the soon to be owner) likes it. Personally, I try to not let people influence my decisions. ^__^

    7. I only got my Tedros at present. But I love him. And I don't care if people like him or not. The most important is: I love him and this is the only thing that counts. Everybody has its own taste and sometimes tastes are vary

    8. If i really like this doll I'll buy it no matter what. :)

    9. If I truly liked a doll it wouldn't matter what anyone had to say negatively about it, I would still get it because at the end of the day it's my opinion that takes precedence as it will be my doll.

    10. I was thinking 'of course I wouldn't ' when I was first reading this, but I feel I actually have done! I bought my unoa lusis through a friends credit card an I gave her the money. But I had always wanted an Unoa sist. She said I should get the lusis instead, not cause the sist was ugly in so many words but I did get the lusis for some reason. I was happy win the choice in the end cause I love my lusis but 6 years later I still want a Sist too :sweat

    11. Nope. I care very little of the opinion of others towards things I like. However I do like the input of others to see their point of view towards the subject. I know that you so have to keep an open mind to see the things you miss.

    12. I wanted to to get a male LTF and was told boys are hard to find clothes for and I'm more of a girl mommy so I didn't get It but I will when I find the right one! :D

    13. I'm quite stubborn and I won't give up just some bad compliments, especially from people who aren't involved in BJD circle. I also experienced such a situation from some ex-classmates which saw my dolls were posted on my Facebook. They said they were so creepy and why I did keep them in my room. I was a bit angry and just ignored them. I don't respect people who don't respect others preference or hobby. Just collecting dolls because I like, doesn't mean that I become a monster or something. I really can't understand these people well. :) But I may consider to choose a doll if the reviews from buyers and BJD hobbyists are negative. That might mean the quality or service of this doll isn't as good as what on photos said.

    14. Whenever I buy a doll, owner pictures and impressions are very important to making my own decision. If the comments are just about whether they find it aesthetically pleasing, then no, that wouldn't stop me. If the negative comments are about the quality of the doll, such as the resin itself or posing ability, then I will definitely take them into consideration, though. I would end up doing a lot more research, but in the end, I might still buy it.

    15. No way! Not unless the other person was forking over the money for the doll. If they are paying, I want them to be happy with their gift for me as well. But if it's MY money... my decision! My mother hates Doll Chateau dolls, and honestly there are many people I've lurked upon that don't find their proportions pleasing. Heck, even I don't find them /all/ pleasing, but there's a couple sculpts I just love...and I love the body's long and artisticly lanky cuh-razy proportions (sans extra joints without the proper outfit). And the sculpts I like are just so expressive! I feel like I would have a true resin emotion in my hands if I owned one. So I'm saving for one now. XD My mom doesn't have to look at her if she doesn't want to.

    16. As much as I always emphesize dolls are for us, not others, it is hard to ignore the fact that the more people keep giving you their opinion the stronger it may impact your perception of things. You simply may have not noticed something in a doll or have obviously a subjective view on it. This said, it is always impoartant to be able to justify if we still like the doll, KNOWING what others see in it.

I myself have owned many dolls considered somewhat weird or unattractive. I did feel unhappy when reading negative comments but as long as I like the doll myself, I don't change how I see it. The same goes with buying. Sometimes other's opinion makes me even more curious how the doll looks in person and if I'd be able to change people's perception when it gets a new faceup and clothes. : D

    17. I buy what I want to buy, nobody else gets a say in it, the only complaints/bad comments I would listen to would be if there was potentially a design flaw, like if a doll is known to be very fragile and the joints crack easily or something, if it was just "oh I don't like the look of that"...tough I do, so :roar

    18. No the doll is for me and not them. At the end of the day I have to be happy with my choices and that is what really matters. So of I love a doll I am going to go for it.

    19. So far, the only doll I own is a Dollfie Dream. As I've started reading more about the BJD community, I've realized that DD seems to be a polarizing doll for some people. That's unfortunate, but it doesn't stop me from enjoying my doll and wanting more DDs.

    20. Wow. I hope everyone enjoys the dolls they love! And I hope they do not pay attention any jerks who are rude enough to say bad things about their dolls!!! :)
