Forum staff are also concerned as there are claims being put forth that Dollshe plans to close down their doll making company. Due to the instability of the company, the lack of communication, the lack of promised refunds, and the wait times now surpassing 5 years, we strongly urge members to research the current state of this company very carefully and thoroughly before deciding to place an order. WORST Doll Experience EVER

Apr 30, 2012

    1. Wow! :o There are some true horror stories in this thread! I have been very lucky, hopefully will never have any of my own to share here!

    2. Hello :)

I bought a Bobobie Sprite second hand with a custom face up on ebay
      something like 3 years ago.

She came all the way from America -
not only did it take 4 Month ( ! ) but when she finally arrived
the custom had CUT ! ALL her strings -
when I opened the package she fell out in pieces and
it had a note in it saying

"We opened this package and investigated the content
on drugs and/or other dangerous goods "

      They destroyed her completely.

She had bite marks from dog teeth all over her,
black and dirty fingerprints , her eyes where broke out and one was in 2 pieces.
One of her ears was broken off and her face was scratched and smudgy.

I was all new to BJDs and it broke my heart to see this beautiful doll
      in a thousand pieces.
I called the customs office but the where like

*shrug* " We had the RIGHT to closely examine the package "

They just didn't care at all .. this was really sad and it made me so angry.

I tried to fix her - as far as I could -
but I ended up selling her to someone who had been in the hobby longer
and knew what possibly to do with the mess that the custom made.

      *sigh*

    3. lucyinskywithdemons Seriously??? OH MY GOD! how could they do that? I'm sorry this happened to you, I don't know what I would have done in your place except going personally over there and make a scandal or something.

    4. I haven't really had a bad experience since I only have one doll and sold her but when I was ordering her the company was really bad at getting back to me about her so that's it so far hopefully I won't have any other bad things happen.

    5. Wow lucy, I am so sorry for you... The German customs are crazy, I know that too well... [IMG]

    6. Yeah - just imagine my face ... after 4 month of waiting finally having my doll in my hands
and then she falls out of the box in pieces .. *cry*

When I showed up at the customs office and had my BJD bits and pieces with me
they where like " ... why are you so upset ? Its JUST A DOLL " ... *argh*
      I mean,
ok - they had the right ( law-wise) to search through her but they did - in fact -
NOT have the right do destroy her.
It ended up with them telling me to be happy that they did not keep and
      trash her -
they where "kind enough" to send the pieces to me ... it was unbelievable really :(

    7. Yupp, crazy as s*it :(

Normally the guys at our custom here are pretty nice
but that time .. I left the office crying :(

    8. lucyinskywithdemons that's just terrible o.O our customs are pretty horrible, but nothing like this ever happened to me. I honestly don't know what I would do in your place (well, aside from pressing charges, because I'm pretty sure they can't destroy the goods)...

As for my worst experience... waiting for my first BJD 4 months was pretty horrible... but I think the worst ones have to be these two:
      - when I was trusted with my friend's beautiful boy for a meet-up and while taking his photos he fell on his face (on stone steps)... she said it wasn't my fault, that he needs restringing, but still >.<
      - this one's rather funny, actually XD I took my BJD to a family get-together, to introduce him to everyone, and just as I said "Be careful, he's very fragile." to my little nieces he head-butted a plate... I was so freaked out :/

In the end, none of them had taken any real damage, but I'm still freak out when I see any BJD leaning forward :sweat

    9. Lucyinskywithdemons omg I so sorry to hear that! That sounds terrible, I would probably be bursting with anger trying to report them saying they damaged your property @_@ I would be so furious

    10. While you are correct that they had the right to check your doll if they suspected something suspicious, I don't believe they have the right to damage your item and then shrug their shoulders. It doesn't matter if it's a doll, gold watch, or a car... If they damage an item, they should have to pay for a replacement. I am sorry that you had to go through that experience. :/

Oh, and yes, they did trash her. Perhaps the bite marks were from the former owner's dog, but either way, they still damaged your doll.

    11. So I thought I'd share my worst experience even if its not as scary as the other ones here o.o just reading them made my stomach hurt :?

Anyway,it was when I got my first BJD and it was an Iplehouse (45cm) Basic I
I paid so much for her shipping and it took so long to arrive, so when she did arrive I was in a state of happiness and I felt light as a feather. As a new obsessive owner I always had her around me although I was too scared to take her outside.
Then it became summer where we go to our summer house for like a month and I couldn't just leave her so I was like WHY NOT.
I took her with me and we managed to get there safe. Although it was around the time I found that my little relative who is about 6 was staying with us. :doh
As an idiot the idea of a 6 year old wanting to play with my doll never came to my head.
So one day I go to my friends house for like 6 hours and leave my doll in my room on my table and close the door, and my relative who was bored invites her friends over to play and while playing a game they end up in my room and see the doll. They decide to take it and play dress up with it and etc.
I come home, my baby's wig is ruined and her straight hair looks like an Afro, she is covered in mud, and the dress looked like cinderellas dress when it got ruined by her stepsisters. :...( I almost had a heart attack and managed to forgive her and learnt my lesson. I was thinking at least she isn't broken. BUT NOOOO it's night we have a family meet and my mother tells me to help my aunt as she was carrying a lot of plates so since she told me to be quick before she drops the stuff I leave my doll which I've been trying to fix as I sat on the carpet and quickly bring stuff to the kitchen and when I come back my aunt who was carrying drinks to be served towards my family doesn't notice my doll and BAM the head is crashed and the arm is gone. I fall on the ground and cry for an hour. It's mostly my fault for not being careful but it literally left like someone stabbed me really bad :(

    12. So far I have had only one bad thing happen. Which was when my little monica Irin whiteskin doll and got some blue sharpie on her. Like I was making a pattern for her through a body mold type of deal, and somehow(despite me being VERY cautious and wrapping her completely in plastic wrap.) she got two blue sharpie blotches. At first I tried to use alcohol to get it off of her(not sure if that was a good idea, but I was freaked out) It got some of it off of her, but still she had a blue tinge in two spots. After that I put her back in her box for about five days, not wanting to look at my booboo. Then today I took her back out, and noticed she had SEVERAL blue sharpie blotches all over her beautiful white body. I was even more horrified by this, and couldn't think of any way possible she could have gotten more blotches while being in her box for five days. Then a lightbulb went off in my head and I went down a small piece of a magic eraser, and just cleaned her whole body with it. Took all the sharpie off, even the sharpie that I tried to clean at first with alcohol.... I am NEVER putting a sharpie anywhere near my dolls again, I have learned my lesson through this scare.

    13. Actually the bite marks where from the police dogs .. they said, the dogs DID bark while they examined my parcel,
the dogs where trained to find explosives and / or drugs.

They didn't even try to sell me an other story .. :(

And through the grapevine they told me
that it was actually my fault .. I shouldn't have signed for the parcel when I thought
      something wasn't ok...
but yeah - how am I supposed to know that in my CLOSED parcel there is nothing left but pieces ?

You have no chance to get anything replaced if you don't open it in front
      of the custom guys face.

    14. Oh my god, that's so awful!!!:(
      I don't know what I'd do.
There are some true horror stories on here, my sympathies to all of you who've had these terrible things happen.

I've been in this hobby for a bit over six years now, and I've had a couple of bad experiences very recently.
First I bought an un-named doll in quite rough condition from a seller on a local auction site, she was badly yellowed, and had chips, so I bought her as a restoration project but before she posted the doll to me the seller decided to spray paint the doll brown for some reason! Then when the doll arrived I found she had just been unstrung and taped up in a plastic grocery bag, no box no padding, luckily, and I don't know how her fingers had not been broken. Anyway I was pretty damn annoyed with the seller and her bad impromptiu paint job, but she ignored my e-mails after that. I spent a week wet sanding the doll to get the spray paint off and then looking into what sculpt she was I came to find she is actually a very rare early Angel Region doll. I have since made up with that seller, she has apologized and is now more careful with the dolls she sells.

The second is also recent, I found a Dollshe Bernard for sale on the marketplace here, and since he is one of my three grail dolls, and was listed as comming with eyes, wig, clothes and shoes, and with no yellowing or damage and artist faceup, I figured that even though he was more expensive than the pure dolls sold for new, with extras he would be worth it, so I asked the seller if I could pay him off and she agreed.
After I made my final payment though the seller left the doll lying around for some reason, and she told me her cat had stolen the wig, so she had posted him without it. I would never leave a doll that had been paid for lying around where it could be damaged, and if I ever lost something I would certainly try and replace or refund for it, which I hinted at the seller but she ignored that.
My doll was held for ransom by New Zealand customs, they charge a third of the value of the item and shipping amount combined over here....the bastards, so by the time I had paid the ransom and finally got my doll he had been VERY delayed. I opened the doll and gave him a quick look over, he looked fine, other than some smudges and scratches to his faceup, but I figured I might change his faceup anyway at some stage, so I sent the seller a message to say thanks, as there had been quite a delay, that was a mistake, a couple of days later when I had time to look the doll over better I noticed he was very dirty, and his clothes and shoes smelled and had fly poop on them, so I washed him at which point I noticed he had a broken finger which had been glued back on:(
I messaged the seller to let her know what I had found, and that I was a bit disappointed about that and his wig and it all got very nasty after that. Essentially the seller blamed me for not asking for more or better pictures, or the post for breaking (and somehow magically glueing) his finger, etc etc, it was really a very bad experience, and it got very petty and ugly. It really made me sad because he was one of the dolls I wanted most in the world and for a long time I didn't even want to look at him, plus he's a bernard so he looked really sad about it:(
Eventually I decided to take him on a trip with me to Israel, to try and see if I could bond with him, and I was taking a picture of him standing in one of the ancient stone alleyways of old Nazareth, and just as I stepped away a little breeze came along and made him faceplant onto the stones, I was so terrified his face would be smashed, miraculously he only got a little dent to his nose!

And now I finally adore my boy, he managed to win me over after all the hassle.

    15. Oh my gosh sorry for the long post*_*

    16. Holy crap... Thats ridiculous! Luckily I dont have any bad experiences but I dont think anything that could happen to me could ever compare to that D:

    17. I lost a brand new Puki face at GogaDoll. Gorgeous faceup. Exactly what I wanted. Must have fallen out of my purse (or someone took it, but I hate to think that).

Or maybe it was selling my SchA with a remarkable SDink faceup on him.... and regretting it ever since.

    18. Oh no, I remember the truly worse. I was restringing a doll and got frustrated, so I pulled really hard. Well, a piece of resin must have broken out of the torso and I inhaled at the same time... I then had a tiny piece of resin stuck in my throat that made me very, very sick. I spent the whole night vomiting and feeling sick.

And then there was the time our puppy chewed a 30cm doll's arm like a bone... the other person who went into that order with me apparently lost her doll by leaving it on top of her garbage can to dry after painting, and having the garbage man come along and toss it.

Oh, can't forget the HUGE order I had with Charles Creature Cabinet (over $1,000) right when he went MIA. This happened just after I'd met him in person at Gogadoll, so it was even more surprising.

I've had a LOT of bad experiences with people. No reason to get into that one.

    19. Wow it sounds like many of you have had re-stringing accidents:( thank goodness the only restringing problem I have had is repeatedly putting the legs on mixed up.

    20. bad experiences...

well there was the time i moved into a new apartment and my sister-in-law decided to pack up and move my dollies to my new apartment while i was away at work (she and my nephews were helping my finace move us) and when i got to the new apartment and unpacked my dollies i found that my girl Io (GoD nabiya elf) had a broken finger from being crammed into a doll box with another doll since she didnt have a doll box of her own! luckily her finger was the only part of her that was hurt and the other dollie was fine!

also ive had problems with my mail man claiming to leave notices that there are packages for me at the post office only he didnt leave me any notice and if the sellers of the dolls hadnt gotten tracking i would have had no idea that my dollie was waiting for me at the post office!
