WORST Doll Experience EVER

Apr 30, 2012

    1. My worst two experiences was when I had just gotten my first doll. She had a face up done by the company , and her eyelashes became loose so I decided to glue them back myself. Someone advised me to use 1-second glue. The container of glue for some reason decided to shoot a whole bunch over my fingers and over my doll's cheek. Making my fingers stick together and messing my doll's face up. Which was impossible to get off of her face. I had to send her to a face up artist to let the glue get removed. But I remember being so upset about it that I cried!

My second was when I decided to take my doll with me going downtown with a group of friends , it wasn't until a bunch of people started to make fun of us and decided to throw stones at us. Almost hitting my doll! Luckily she was unharmed , because I became so angry at them for not considering someone's safety , and possessions! I wouldn't know what I would've done if they had actually hit her!

    2. That's horrible! what a jerk!
It's so cruel to do that to you after you fell in love with the doll, and actually won it:(

    3. etherealina - I would still consider bringing up the problem with eBay. They need to know if their sellers are doing this sort of thing, and they may be able to force her to honor the sale since the doll is obviously STILL available. Her excuses are not okay by eBay ToS and if you have them contact her you may stil get what you want.

    4. Actually, if she was asking the seller to ship to a different address than what was in her Paypal, I can see why the seller freaked. Paypal is very strict with sellers about shipping *only* to the CONFIRMED address that is in Paypal.

It's an unfortunate situation, but ebay sellers are on the major defensive these days.... so many scamming buyers, who can get away with mayhem even when the seller does their job. :-P

      So as bummed as you feel, your seller hasn't done anything wrong here, they were just adhering to the rules. ^^;;

    5. I was just going to say this. I don't ship to address other than the paypal address because if it "goes missing" I am responsible. It is a great way for fraudsters to scam sellers and unfortunately I have had this EXACT thing happen to me. Ebay has going out of the way to protect their buyers at the expense of shafting their sellers -- we can't leave negative feedback anymore to out scammers publicly, we can only report them and the new buyer protection clauses for international selling make the burden of proof on the seller in a shorter period of time. If I were selling a doll on ebay, I'd get nervous if someone asked me to mail it elsewhere now... :(

    6. At the same time, the seller could have said it much more politely. "Our company makes it a practice not to send any merchandise to non-Paypal verified addresses. I'm really sorry. If there is a way that you can have your address verified within (some amount of time) then we can continue the transaction. Otherwise, I'm sorry but we'll have to cancel this order.
Thank you very much for your understanding!"

There you go. Much easier and nicer than going "HOW DARE YOU SUGGEST ANYTHING I AM SCARED OF YOU NOW I CANCEL"

    7. Yes...! That is unfortunate... ^^;;

    8. This a very interesting phenomenon. Although very new to this hobby, I did have the same thing happen. I am unsure how to handle the situation. what did you finally do about your Hal?

    9. My worst doll experience was when i tried to make a manneqin of my doll, when it was time to take apart the mennaqin from the body (I have know idea how it happend... I think I gott a migrane all of sudden) and she ended upp with "scars" on her back (but know I think it would look good on her and fit her character) and when I tried blush her arms with purple because i wanted her as a demond at the time, well... she ended upp with misscolorations in her arms and back. Dont use old msc.
All of this can be fixe easy with sanding, I know that, but when this things happend I didn't feel worthy staying in the hobby.

    10. I totally agree with you! Sorry, I wrote that when I was really tired >_<

    11. Wow so glad nothing bad has happened, so far. The only remotely sad thing that happened was shortly after i got my doll SO much life happened (babies, moving, school, etc.). So she was in her box for over a year before got her out again, at which point i just could not bond. Bright side of this i am giving her to my sister, so now she will be able to have a doll. it would of never happened otherwise.

Oh wait i do my not quite 2 yr old decided to grab a 24cm Hujoo doll and run around the house with it like a mad man. i thougt for sure it would get broken. the doll was a free one from an event but i planned on letting my husband have it.

    12. It seems like everyone's worst experiences are based on broken parts. It makes me want to be more careful since I'm already very clumpsy.
My worst experience is rather personal. I was buying a doll from Volks store in Torrance, California and they said they will charge me 8.75% Tax if the shipping address is California. That was a lot of money since I was buying more than a $1000. So I called my sister who is living at Illinois to help me and she was like 'I don't want to help with your weird anime, bjd hobby blah blah ...'.
It was very embarrassing to make that phone call infront of the sales clerk.

    13. my worst doll experience is reading all these D: i havent bought a doll yet and hearing all these horror stories makes me worry about what i will eventually be paying for

    14. The worst thing I've had so far is some obnoxious girl telling me my BJD hobby was "nothing to be proud of". That's not that bad, but the utter look of disgust on her face was just.. bizarrely amuzing. I've never see anyone react that way to another person's hobby before.
And ROCKSALT, don't worry :) People's problems with you are ultimately their problems and should not be yours at all. And things like that are rare and far in between I think.

    15. Thankfully, my worst experience was only dropping a dolly head. Well. Actually. I'v dropped said head maybe a dozen times, everytime horrified I'v snapped off one of her long, floppy ears (she's a nDoll Pan with long ears, you know those insanely floppy ones?) and nothing had happened. She'd been dropped on concrete, wood, tile... everything imaginable. She even comes with me to places so often, I'm pretty paranoid about checking her ears when she's in the blanky she travels in.

But alas, my luck was not to last. One night, I was changing her dress, knocked the head off the table and it bounced off my IKEA table's leg to a ridiculously soft plastic carpetfloor. My first thought was "Not again. Uuugh. Atleast its soft, probably nothing happened. Again. I'm just scaring myself for nothing." ALAS. NOT SO. A teeny tiny half of an ear was tucked under the table leg and my girl's head was, thankfully, otherwise fine.
Nothing a bit of glue (actually I had to use paperglue as an emergency aid, and it held insanely well until I got superglue) couldn't fix! Her ear is properly at its place now and no crack can even be seen.
It has made me twice as paranoid about them ears since tho. I just *know* they are out to freak me out again.

    16. the Narae I never got :...( i haven't collected in several years because of some bad transactions. I would love to love these dolls again!

    17. My worst doll experience is when this guy tried to steal my doll. I was in Philadelphia with friends and we were having a meet with our dolls. But on the way back to my hotel, this homeless guy approached me and asked me for some change. I said I had none but he insisted and started becoming aggravated. I didn't want to provoke him any more so I turned away at which he saw the bag my doll was in (must've thought it was a purse or something) and he tried to take it. He tried to yank it away from me but I held on to my precious Delf and ultimately he ran away.
I was really worried that he might've hurt my doll so I opened it up right away but it was fine except for some makeup. :)

    18. When the other day I was taking pictures and my doll (lati yellow sp) felt down suddently.... she hit the face and I was shocked! Fortunately her face it's still ok, but this scared me a lot :((

But it's a problem, with Lati Yellow Sp, they have really a bad posture, is a 'difect' of Lati Y SP.

    19. A month after buying my first doll, I was carrying him and I tripped. My dresser drawer was slightly open and my dolls hand went into it and as my body weight hit the drawer, it closed it on his fingers snapping 3 of them off.

I bought this doll from a dealer, in person. The orders going to the artist took forever and I had to wait about half a year to get my replacement hand. The artist stopped doing work and many people never got their dolls, so I was lucky to get a replacement hand at all.

The doll is white skinned so that would have made it even harder to match the resin tone with another company.

In the end I got a new hand...but I had to wait 6 months and like I said this was one month after getting my first doll : (

    20. I had sent my mnf Woosoo to a faceup aritst and after about 1 month I received her preview photos and she was so beautiful. The artist sent the heads, but for some stupid mistake from the post office they had delivered my doll to the wrong people whom never took the bother to call the post office about the wrong delivery or say anything!! :doh
The doll stayed there for about 2 weeks until I finally receive my doll heads.. Sadly with Scratches on the face-up for both heads.. there was some stain too as well there is a 'hit' on her nose :( ow my poor girl

I was so angry with them yet didn't try get a refund for the damages or payed for delivary. I haven't re-send my doll again for faceup or try to fix the scratches, as she's so precious to me and as beautiful and I try not to think about this again.
