WORST Doll Experience EVER

Apr 30, 2012

    1. Geesh talk about being shady sellers. I would've been like "Just give me the doll I'll carry her around the con myself!"

    2. Receiving a doll reeking of cigarette smoke is the worst I've encountered thusfar.

    3. Ughhh... >_> I really didn't want to be in this thread but alas. My worst doll experience ever was purchasing my Crobidoll Yujin on layaway via Dolk. Now I know that Dolk has had spotty feedback in the past but I've dealt with them on a great many occasions and done layaways with them and never had any trouble and for the most part this would have been another perfect, spotless transaction...

Until I made my final payment, that is, and asked for payment confirmation and received none. I contacted them a week later in case my inquiry had been overlooked but again received no reply nor was my order's status ever updated. I was becoming irritated at that point as I was going to send him off to a faceup artist who would then split his body and sent it off to another owner as well. At fourteen days and another failed contact attempt I finally decided to take it to Crobi. I was also instructed to send a note to the japanese site instead of the english one which I did, filing a complaint about their unresponsive english rep along with it. Thankfully in between the japanese rep. and Crobi we managed to sort it out and my Yujin was shipped two days later without any contact on Dolk's part again, however.

So in the end it was resolved... but it made me very skeptical about buying a doll from them again.

    4. Seconding Soenatte on this, since we kind of bought him together and I was the one holding the split for the body, which made me really nervous and irritated (it was my first split too).

Oh and when I got my first doll, she came with high heel feet so I wanted to put them on. It was morning and I had to leave for class after a few hours, but I still wanted to do it before leaving. Her elastic slipped from my fingers and inside her foot orz I obviously had no restringing tools or anything, I basically just took a very thin metal rod thingie (the kind of bicycles have on their wheels) and practically restringed her foot...after a lot of frustration and irritation I finished it but yea...

    5. A week ago I was spraying Gegaish with MSC, (please look at the respiratory safety thread on here at LEAST before trying to use this product. Know what you're spraying around.) getting him all... "toothy" and ready for a blushing. He'd been in peices for two months because I was slow with the cleaning, and it took a WHILE for the MSC to come in the mail. I was doing the spraying on my rooftop which is right outside my window, and standing inside. I was pretty sure the shoebox lid I was using was safe enough that the parts would not roll down the angle of the roof... and I was correct in that. It was perfectly secure, and protected the peices. The moment happened when I was removing the peices from the cardboard box lid.... my grip slipped and out rolled his little elbow. I was just thinking of the 'worst moments' posts on here at that moment and thinking to myself "yep." ...It felt similiar to throwing a bad ball during bowling, and waiting... waiting... while it miraculously takes two hours to roll into the gutter... and straight into that gutter the elbow indeed rolled. So... I start climbing out the window until I realise it's a pretty bad idea for me to be crawling around on the very edge of an old roof that's freezing cold from the winter. Luckily I remembered I knew how to use a ladder, and the exact spot the elbow fell in was easy to get to, and easy to predict the spot from the ground, so I was able to grab it on my first climb. I was um... impressed with how clean it was. It had a speck or two of dirt on it but otherwise was in prime condition... didn't need fixing or re-spraying... but I think you can imagine what condition I was imagining I'd find it in. Into my (zippered) pocket it went, and it took a rinse int he sink. After the day was done, his grimy elbow took a tub and was juuust fine. :aheartbea The End. :aheartbea

    6. Some of these experiences really gave me chills! It totally made me paranoid of people now *shifty eyes* such as "doll molesters" and "doll stalkers" and the random immature jerks that troll.

I will throw my worst experiences in so far but really compared to some is not so horrible!

My second doll buying was very disappointing, because I had to wait forever on payments and then when he finally arrived I just disliked him. Many people tried to encourage me to give it time but in my heart I knew I did not like him. Then when I finally tried to sell him it seemed like no one was interested in him. Many people wanted me to split him up and some Cheque Republic girls tried to get me to sell him to them but I had a really uneasy feeling about them so I ran away. Then I tried trading and again people wanted to trade me random pieces like just a head or so. Whenever I inquired on a trade many people declined for whatever reason. Finally I had an offer from someone who traded me for my first girl roo dollmore and I love her!

    7. my worst experience was when a lady wanted to trade her N-Doll with me for my little bobobie..she send me the doll,in good faith and I had a huge box ready for shipping to her, when a friend mingled in and told her that the doll was worth more then that little one,so I got a mail from her in wich she told me that she wanted the doll back..I cried while packing her back into her box,she came on my sisters birthday, she died a year before,so she was so special..I cried for a week, was even sick..then my best friend to me to a doll meet, wher eI met the lady in person and we started talking,I told her I had a box full and that I cried because I had to send the doll back, she felt for me and said she didn't know,so we did ended up trading again and now 6 years later Suki, the doll in my avatar,is still with me..we will never part, when I die she will come with me..so a horror story with an happy end..but how come I was so sick, that still puzzles me..

    8. This is embarrassing and quick to explain. When I started and I was buying my first doll (used) I though I was buying a full doll but ended up getting just the body. It was my mistake as the previous owner was selling only the body. However she was selling it with a picture that included the head thus causing me, the newbie, to make a mistake. Luckily it wasn't that big of a deal and I just went and bought a head separately.

    9. I almost just threw up. I'm not even joking. I'm so sorry this happened to you!

    10. Yeah I felt my stomach lurch reading that post. That guy who ran them over is an idiot.

    11. Well I would have to say when I purchased a doll from a site that had a great price, but he turned out flimsy. He cannot stand, also one of his fingers broke on delivery. But I still have him, I reattached his finger and he is my Damian, but I will not be sending that sit to anyone.

    12. To be fair some companies ship their dolls loosely strung on purpose,I think it helps to keep the joints from cracking during shipping. As for the broken finger, well, that can happen with any company.

To the topic at hand,I think that would be when I received a doll head from a company that had a chip in it's eye lid. Other then that nothing really bad has happened yet.

    13. I've only had 2 bad really bad experiences, both involving broken fingers.
first time was during transport - one of my Dolls and one of my sisters Dolls lost one finger each. We were taking the train to a con and on the way we had to change trains. We only had a few minutes and we had to change platforms - and of cause the station only had stairs. And my sister didn't bother helping me with the heavy trunk (filled with 6 Dolls).
second time was when I recieved a boy from infiniti doll. He arrived with 3 fingers broken off, luckily only on one hand. He was wrapped in bobble-wrap, but only rolled into one big piece instead of his limps beeing wrapped individually. But Infiniti doll send me a new pair of hands, it just annoys me a tiny bit that there is a slight difference in the resin color.

    14. This story was so moving, I almost cried for you! So surprised, but happy that it all turned around and ended so well. :abambi:

    15. I'm LIVING mine. My doll's tracking number hasn't updated since SATURDAY and it's supposed to arrive today. No doll no NOTHING no updates...I'm so worried...

    16. My worst experience was probably saving up a long time in 5-hours-a-week-job-while-also-being-an-art-student-buying-supplies, starting a 3-month layaway with Ringdoll, everything is going okay but then I send my second payment and they don't reply to my email confirming receipt of the payment. So then I sent the third payment even though they never said they received the second one. Then they still won't reply to anything, nobody can get in contact with them at all, I'm pretty sure I lost my money and can't get it back since Paypal can only recover within 60 days. I emailed constantly asking them to just refund my money. So I pretty much just felt sick about it for months until about 6 months later when they finally start communicating with people again and I receive my doll after 7 months. But all those months of waiting and feeling sick about losing the money I worked really hard to save was the worst ever.

Related physically to dolls I own, the worst that's happened to me so far is a doll falling over and breaking a finger off. Which is pretty common, I guess, so I'm lucky.

    17. I've had a few moments of horror.
Number 1 was by far my worst: I went to an anime convention and brought all my dollies with. We had them loaded up in a wagon that we pulled along with us. A girl at the convention came up and asked to see a doll. We handed her one of mine and she wasn't careful whatsoever with poor Moo. Shook her around, held her by the feet. She gave her back (much to my relief) and then asked how much each doll had cost. We told her and she then asked what the cheapest was. Moo (being a BBB Elfkin) was the cheapest by far and she was told that. This girl then demanded I give her Moo and even went as far as putting money down on the table. I refused and told her to scram. This girl came back multiple times throughout the convention, bugging me about buying my dolls.
A few weeks later we went to another convention and the same girl was there and did the exact same BS. 'I want you doll. Why won't you sell her? Give her too me. You're being so selfish.' She even went as far as pretending to grab one of the dolls that we have on display to run away with it. I flipped. Told her off and she had the nerve to get pissy with me! Ridiculous.

Number two happened not too long ago. Got my Dikadoll Tea in the mail in January. Opened up her box, start taking out everything and her wings are cracked in half. Luckily I contacted MintonCard and I got a new set of uncracked wings so it all turned out okay but still....that moment of horror when I unrolled those wings and came away with two pieces was intense for a minute.

    18. My maid was doing some cleaning while I was out of the house. She accidentally dropped my Ducan, which is why he ended up with a missing piece on his knee and a small crack on his ankle. She doesn't go near him anymore after knowing how much he cost.

    19. I was at a meetup yesterday. I brought Alys, and stood her up on a table. Was there for several hours, talking... then suddenly Alys decided to do a backwards head plant on the table! Her wig and headcap fell off, and when the headcap hit the floor the little chip that says DreamingDoll fell out of it. Going to have to find glue that will hold it back on....

    20. When I ordered my Rosette from Soom, they lost my money. THREE TIMES. First, their website sent my second payment to an address they said they "no longer monitored," but that claimed my payment. The rep wouldn't do anything and told me to claim against them through Paypal (clearly not understanding what that would mean). All the while, their website was saying they did have my money on one order page, and that they didn't on another. I was told I wasn't being clear enough, that they didn't understand how I'd chosen that address (their website sent me there on a glitch apparently?). Then, when I claimed in Paypal, they suddenly FOUND my money and asked me to dismiss the claim (which had of course, frozen the account). Apparently they'd been keeping track of orders by printing them out and hunting through the stack of printouts instead of looking in Paypal itself. Lastly, when I dismissed the claim, they insisted I'd taken my money back and that I needed to repay the first two payments on my layaway with the third.

At that point I lost it on their rep and demanded that they do some legwork and figure out how Paypal worked, because I'd been following up behind them cleaning up their mess for weeks and at that point they had my money and had used up my recourse in getting it back. Suddenly everything was okay, but it took MONTHS of slow negotiations to get things settled. I love Soom Rosettes, but you can be damn sure every other one we own was second-hand.

Hands down the most stressful experience I've ever had buying a doll. Good thing I love her or it would've been a total waste of time.
