It has come to the attention of forum staff that Dollshe Craft has ceased communications with dealers and customers, has failed to provide promised refunds for the excessive waits, and now has wait times surpassing 5 years in some cases. Forum staff are also concerned as there are claims being put forth that Dollshe plans to close down their doll making company. Due to the instability of the company, the lack of communication, the lack of promised refunds, and the wait times now surpassing 5 years, we strongly urge members to research the current state of this company very carefully and thoroughly before deciding to place an order. WORST Doll Experience EVER

Apr 30, 2012

    1. My worst buying/selling experience was receiving a second-hand head (that was listed as $5 more than retail) with a HUGE scratch in the back. It was also send unregistered even though I had made explicitly clear I was prepared to pay extra for shipping with a tracking code. I felt very guilty to ask for a partial refund because the head was in no way worth the $90 + shipping I paid for, and the seller had originally sold the doll due to financial difficulties, so... But fair enough, I got a partial refund and it was all okay, but I still haven't sanded the scratch out since it'll leave a very visible sanding mark.

The worst experience with a doll was trying to fix my Domuya boy's feet. The screws were too lose and kept being pulled into the leg hole, until the point I hat to force the screw out, bending it beyond salvation. I had to use different, bigger screws but they kept getting undone too, even with superglue and Epoxy! It took me 10 times to finally get it right with different, smaller eyelets and tiny S-hooks but omg... I will never restring that doll again.

Finally, the worst social experience I had was not even about me, but with my friend Nordica. We had a table on a local doll convention and I was selling a body there. I would meet up with someone who was interested in seeing a resin match for her floating head, but of course she came to our booth when I was away looking at some eyes on the other side of the convention. The person then started asking Nordica all kinds of questions about the body she couldn't answer, even going as far as to take the body out of the box without asking to see if the head would fit. When Nordica asked her to wait untill I was back, the person became very rude and called us 'unprofessional' - she almost took the body while leaving an amount of money she saw fit, but luckily I was back before that person could intimidate Nordica into selling her that body.

I just hate dealing with people who think you're on your knees for their money and expect you to bend in all kinds of ways just to make them happy ~_~

    2. In the last.. 8 or so months.... i have had a total of 5 dolls stolen from me. 4 because of my ex fiance. 3 i suspect were sold for drugs by the woman i let keep them for safekeeping, she has since vanished and her family has not been able to find her for over 2 months....one his family had...and i will never get that one back.. I even had the police, there when i tried to retrieve that one. and then, i ordered the doll that got me INTO the hobby from MoC.. only to have her stolen before i knew she had been delivered :(

MoC and i are still in the process of processing the claim that will have fedex, pay for a new doll for me.

    3. Nothing bad has happened to Leah yet, and I've had her for three months! I'm a little worried for poor Corbin (the DZ Mo head I have on layaway), though--he'll be coming to me in the middle of summer. I'm going to be sitting on the steps all day, baking in the heat, just to make sure he gets here okay. I'm a perpetual worrier and so all of these shipping horror stories terrify me!

This is old, but I wanted to say that this is really cool! When I was in the hospital recently (I was just diagnosed with diabetes, and since I'm still a kid I went through intensive education), I brought Leah. One of the nurses really liked her and I promised to bring her to the next get-together they have at the hospital for kids with diabetes! :)

    4. One time when I was re-stringing a soom, the clamp slipped and the metal hook at the end of the elastic (foot hook if I remember) caught my thumb and went ALL THE WAY THROUGH IT like a fishing hook. >_<
It hurt WAY more than you'd think and for a minute there, I was caught with my hand pinned to the doll, hook through my flesh and in a bit of shock. I was eventually able to calm myself enough to pull it out and go clean it with antiseptic, but MAN that was unpleasant.

    5. This is terrible they are so expensive and we take a risk as it is knowing that they tell us defects in colour etc are not faults and they won't be replaced for that. In this case it is pretty shocking that they failed to reply and also failed to put right your problems

    6. That is because different companies have different resins and even differing batches within the same company. And Resin ages so it changes color so there would be slight difference between older resin an a newer batch.

How long have you been in the hobby for?

There are countless topics about Resin colors and ageing/yellowing.

It's not the company's fault that you didn't do your research.

    7. now that's a little unfair saying the person hasn't done their research. there was not company named, and there are some more.. annoying companies out there, that do NOT have the customer service that say, Soom, or a "store" like Mint on Card does! i know because i had to deal with one company that failed to answer ANYTHING. I had to find a dealer, in Taiwan, i believe it was, to get ANY information about my doll and the company. It was a utter nightmare.

    8. Oh Gosh there are some horror stories here. I feel for all of you. My worst bjd experience was a purchase I made for an Asleep Eidolon doll on ebay. I should have known better because there were very few pictures of the doll in the listing, but I went for it anyway. The doll arrived and I could tell she had been modified in various places like the eye sockets and she had glue sueding which can be removed, but I just didn't like the doll. I ended up selling her.

    9. Wow some horrible stories here!!! Ryochan I'm shocked! I never thought this could happen!!!! :...(
I'm really sorry for all of you guys!
As for me fortunelly I never had any bad episodes envolving my dolls. I think the worse thing that could happen is having a doll stolen from me.

      • x 1
    10. THAT IS SO TRUE, for me too! Hahaha! Love it!!

    11. Well, I guess Ive been pretty lucky so far.
I haven't had any major disasters ending in heartbreak like a lot of you have had.
So sorry to hear all of these stories, makes me wanna hug my girls. :(

I've posted in this thread a few times so far when Ive had a few incidents, so I guess I'll tell the latest.
I just got a YoSD Suzuna, whom I adore. She's quickly becoming my favorite doll which I was def not expecting since Im super obsessed with my delf Miyu, Freya.

But she has this bad tendency to fall and hit the ground super hard!!

First, I wake up to her box and all her clothes on the floor and her head cap across the room.
The cats had jumped on her shelf, her box fell and she hit the floor. And Freya's box had deep claw marks all over it.
If Freya fell I know she would have gotten messed up BAD. But Cookie was just fine!!

Then her face hit the hard floor by accident when my husband was helping me work on something on her.
That was terrifying and I cried while looking her over. Not even a mark on her!

Then she fell off a shelf because of her elastic shifting and hit her face again hard on my desk. (That happened twice now)
It ended with me checking her hands and face for damage and lost of hugs.

So ever since Ive been SUPER careful with her. And I'll never be so careless again!
She's built like a rock but Im not gonna chance it, Ive been lucky until now!

    12. I've been a bit lucky in that I haven't had any absolutely horrible things happen to me or my dolls yet, but just yesterday was by far my worst

I was taking my dolls apart for their twice-yearly complete bath and cleaning. I noticed that my Chloe had a crack in one of her knee caps! I'm guessing it was from a tumble off my desk she took after my nephew accidentally knocked her. I checked her face, ears, hands etc and saw no damage. Never thought about checking her knee caps :S
Then, while trying to unstring her, the S hook broke free from the wrist ball thing that holds her arm together and attaches her hand. There's no way to attach it back without epoxying it fully in place so that it won't move (which I don't want).
So needless to say, between an unstable knee and an arm I can't restring, the poor thing is sitting in (clean) pieces in her box while I await a response from Fairyland about purchasing replacement parts :(

    13. I got some lingerie from Iplehouse for my DDdy Alna. This, to be precise (lingerie photo warning) http://www.flickr.com/photos/69205803@N04/8537280921/in/photostream

Lovely, lovely lingerie. Horrible, horrible staining. The stockings turned parts of her legs totally black and blue.

I'm using some 10% benzoyl peroxide acne stuff to clean her legs. It's helping, but it will be a while before her legs are totally clean, if ever. She's got a bit of staining on her butt, too.

I expected some staining, but I've never had staining this bad before. It was as if somebody took a magic marker and scribbled on her body. Poor girl :( I'll have to try that white vinegar trick on the lingerie before I use it again.

    14. Oh that's disappointing:(
I find quite a lot of synthetic dark nylon and lace fabrics are prone to staining especially from the cut edges for some reason, I wish you luck with your benzoyl peroxide de staining.

    15. Thank you, raewhitewolf. I hope she gets 100% cleaned up.

I never expected the staining to be so bad. It was completely nuts.

    16. I managed to lose the fantasy thigh piece for my Soom Afi! Without that thigh I can't string her! She is still in pieces months later (I was blushing her and giving her a face-up) AND I can't even put her together as a human because I sold her regular legs!! I can't afford to buy new hoof parts, especially for just ONE thigh piece but I can't find her thing, and I've been searching for months! And I was so happy to have FINALLY after years put her together! I didn't buy her from Soom when she came out so I had to put her together piece by piece, buying the fantasy parts and head off the marketplace and getting a body when Soom had a special order. All to no avail without that thigh!!

    17. Oh my gosh honey, you are NOT alone in feeling that way!!
Example, I LOVED ALL the photos if Ficon Icarusia, for 3 months I LOOKED at different photos. Then I got her, opened the box, and BAM!! All I did was remove her plastic face cover and my heart SANK.....I could not return her, so I had to sell her. That doesn't happen too often to me either, I just wish it would only happen on a $50.00 doll!! (lol) :))

    18. Worst for me was my guy taking a huge tumble yesterday when I had him standing in his new shoes. He just toppled over. Luckily he's okay but geeze...

    19. My doll has a Demon Garden body... When it arrived it was strung so tightly, the c-ring had dug a small-but-deep gash into the top of the neck. I ordered it through Mint on Card, so I contacted them about getting a replacement torso. They managed to get Demon Garden to send one to me, but it was a different resin color, so it didn't match my head anyway. I think other people were having problems with Demon Garden at that time and within a month of getting my replacement torso Mint on Card ceased working with Demon Garden. I am assuming they went under since they stopped updating their website a few months after that. Nevertheless, I still have the same body for my doll, and despite the problems with the company, I wouldn't dream of replacing it. The gash isn't visible with the head on, and I still love my doll anyway. If the company hadn't gone off the map, I don't think I'd have ordered from them again, though, given the issues.

    20. I've had a few bad experiences, but two in particular stand out.
I used to place my dolls on top of a book case, they never had a problem, never fell, nothing. It was a nice, safe place for them. Then, one day, I got home from school and my IslandDoll Amy was on the floor on top of a VCR I'd been using. She wasn't broken, thank god, but she does have a black mark above her eye from the VCR.

This is a shipping experience, but it involves sending a doll head. I was sending my Two.S.Doll Mayi head for faceup, but the only nearby places to mail anything is a UPS store on my college campus. I assumed that all places had decently similar pricing, so I was shocked to find out I'd be paying $25 to mail a head, after I'd only paid $11 when I mailed a head through USPS a few weeks prior to that. It took about 45 minutes for them to even figure out how to mail anything to Canada, much less how to label a box that contained a doll head. Then they insisted they did it correctly, but never warned me that there would be a huge fee from Customs. When she arrived in Canada, I was excited to hear about the faceup artist starting on her, but instead I got the bad news that I now had accrued a $41 customs charge because I sent her through UPS! That still bothers me now, I wish UPS had forewarned me that I'd have issues with Customs, then I would have just let the faceup artist know that I needed a few more days to mail her so I could find somewhere else. I learned my lesson, though.
