1. It has come to the attention of forum staff that Dollshe Craft has ceased communications with dealers and customers, has failed to provide promised refunds for the excessive waits, and now has wait times surpassing 5 years in some cases. Forum staff are also concerned as there are claims being put forth that Dollshe plans to close down their doll making company. Due to the instability of the company, the lack of communication, the lack of promised refunds, and the wait times now surpassing 5 years, we strongly urge members to research the current state of this company very carefully and thoroughly before deciding to place an order. For more information please see the Dollshe waiting room. Do not assume this cannot happen to you or that your order will be different.

WORST Doll Experience EVER

Apr 30, 2012

    1. Some of these are just horrible... nightmarish, heartbreaking.... I'm so sorry for anyone who has to go through any of this :(

Worst that's happened to me is my Mashiro's black pantyhose got vacuumed up while I was out. God forbid anything happens to my dolls themselves...

    2. What about commissioning someone to recreate the face up? I know some artists are against copying others work but the seller kinda has it coming to her for wrapping her so crappily. I know there's some out there who might be willing to.

    3. My worst experience (so far) happened around six or so months ago. I keep all of my girls upstairs in my room out of the way of cats, puppies and my dad's pipes, and I only ever bring them downstairs for photoshoots or just to hang out with me. One day I made the mistake of trying to carry my Littlefee Ante Synnove and my laptop downstairs at the same time; my computer was tucked under one arm and I was hanging onto Synnove with the couple fingers I had free, and I had made the mistake of wearing pants with no pockets so I was carrying my camera in my other hand. I'd just stepped off the landing when Synnove slipped out of my fingers and took a tumble down the stairs. I swear my heart stopped for a second or two, imagining worst case scenarios. Fortunately Synnove came through without so much as a scratch to her faceup, and I've learned my lesson: multiple trips are perfectly okay.

    4. Ringdoll is my worst nightmare ever, they are just awful. This was my experience:

I bought a Ringdoll Rebecca in Doll Market (I was in a karate tournament and I really WANT one BJD and then I search stores like Denver DE but in Greensboro and I found Doll Market -that was a very lovely story but I'm losing the point) and my poor girl only have one wig and I really want to buy one from Ringdoll (I really like the quality of the doll) but that's when everything got mad, the wig took a HALF YEAR to arrive and has come in the wrong size and style, I was furious and the company didn't do anything.

      BUT that's not all...

Three months later the doll falls from my desktop (bad quality elastic strings) and she broke one finger!!!! and Ringdoll didn't do hands for that size!!!!

AND I lost the finger D:

Rebecca, my first girl have had a very awful life XD

      And that's all xDDDD

I agree with you, the worst part: We learn the lesson with the worst method D:

    5. I've thought about that actually and have been highly considering it as of late, especially after seeing the talent of some face-up artists in flawlessly re-creating a limited doll's face-up. :) In the past I was too afraid to because I didn't want to "ruin" my grail (that particular Suiseiseki) but I think the previous owner already slightly spoiled her for me.

    6. I think it's worth a try, Wintryabyss. There are some really talented faceup artists here who might be willing to give it a try, and you may find it relieving to finally be able to look at your grail doll without seeing those scratches and being reminded of her unfortunate adventure.

    7. This thread will surely feed my paranoia even more. I can't even imagine something major happening to my babies, not to mention having them destroyed or stolen. I would probably have to be commited to a mental hospital :( My heart goes out to everyone who had to go through any horrible experience like this...

I have been in this hobby for years now and now I realize I have been pretty lucky since not much has happened to me. Of course I had my share of falls and such but fortunately no major injuries ever took place. I've had one thing though that stands out which is about a split experience (sorry if it's too long still makes me upset after years).
It was my first split and I was kinda clueless...I it was in 2010. I was in a Soom Chalco split for the body I wanted for my Chrom, since I couldn't find one on MP. I of course read the split hostess' feedback thread and it seemed great so I wasn't worried at all.
Our split was taking a 3 months layaway but I have waited to complete my doll for long enough so I was willing to wait, plus I knew by the end of the layaway the doll will probably ship right away. I paid in full to the person hosting the layaway in february when she supposedly ordered and waited. At the start it was a bit chaotic. I had to include paypal fees and shipping but it was still ok price so I didn't mind that much. I didn't inquire about the split for some time even though there were no news. I figured there's not much to say since we are yet to pay the doll off. I was watching the waiting room so i saw when Chalco's have started shipping but we didn't start inquring about state of the order till June. We were usually ignored or told that Soom just wrote they need 100 days to complete the order. Which was past by then. Eventualy the girl left the split thread altogether abandoned. We kept messaging her but she was very polite and very angry at Soom for taking so long so none of us suspected a thing. First excuse came in august when she told us Soom wrote her that she underpaid her order and that it was impossible and she was mad and waiting for them to resolve this. Then we had to contact her again wees later, this time, she said that she overpaid and they were refunding her. Since then she started to claim Soom is not respondng to her and that she is trying her best to contact them. I asked for the order number and never got it. Later another split member that became worried contacted me and told me she asked for the number too and also never got it. This person was very helpful in resolving the whole thing and I am really grateful she contacted me or I might never see my money again. Anyway afterwards the girl hosting the split claimed to have computer problems and obviously was unable to go to an internet cafe or friend's huse and used this as an excuse to contact us even less and even told us she can't access the Soom site on her phone. This was already in September and me and the other girl from the split agreed that it seems like this person used the split to get some easy money and now tries to get it to last as long as possible since she never actually placed the order and doesn't have money to pay us back. We later on found out she was being paged for at least two more splits where the scenario was almost the same. I was honestly terrified and thought I would never see my money again. We in the end asked for refund. Even though she claimed Soom failed to get back to her, she said imediately that they agreed with the refund which is kinda weird, not to mention the lack of any proof there was any order placed at all. I got my money back in two or three instalments (another proof she was paying me from her own money and no refund actualy took place), but even though I told her to send me the full amount I paid, she didn't include paypal fees and I lost a significant amount of money. I was beyond care by then though, I was just glad it's over.
I was really kicking myself for ever going through that since later on I found a way cheaper body in the MP and it was quick and pleasant transaction. Could have spared myself the nerves.

    8. HighPriestessIce- Thank you so much, It was definitely a sad time for me :( I'm so sorry to hear about your boy as well and how you can't get a new headcap for him. What are the odds that he was able to slide out of your bag like that >_< I hope you are able to create a custom headcap for him or maybe send him to a sculptor to have them recreate one?

Arashi Uchiha- Aw :( That really means a lot to me *hugs* I'm very grateful that everything got replaced in the end. It is very tragic to watch as a doll owner, since we all tend to be very attached to our BJDs, it's as though they were killed :( I wish I could have gotten some revenge somehow. I hope in the very least he got bad Karma lol.

    9. I do believe it's rather, most face-up artists aren't willing to copy another artists work from a different doll.
This situation is different where as you want the 'copied' work on the same exact doll. A redo in a sense.

I'm sure if you find an artist with the skill level you want, they'd be willing to redo it if they think they can. ^^
      Good luck!

    10. I had two:

      1. Sold a doll to a person who was an acquaintance who was said to be "desperately" looking for a doll that I was not bonding with. The sales was layaway and it became a nightmare.
      2. Won a chance to purchase a LE Volks doll at an event. Afterwards the company hosting the event insisted that I did not win my right to purchase. I ended up having to go to the company and resolve the issue. This one had a happy ending so it was not as bad as the first

    11. I've had two. Both with my first doll, an el. His head would not stay attached to his body. One time I was carrying him in a parking lot and his head popped right off and hit the pavement. I was devistated. Fortunately it only chipped off some of his faceup on the tip of his nose. Another time I left him sitting on a friend's counter while I decorated for a party. One if her kittens jumped up, yanked him down and clawwed up his leather outfit that had cost me close to $200! I was furious but she refused to do anything about it and would not even apologize! Shd had been the one who insisted I bring him over and told me he was safe to sit up there. We stopped being friends pretty soon afterwards.

    12. Mine are tame compared to some, but I was fiddling with my Delf Claus's foot and it popped off because there was some leftover resin underneath the nub in his ankle. Took about half and hour and many tries (by myself) to get his foot back on. :sweat

And living this right now but it's the worst thing ever knowing your new doll was cleared from customs two days ago and is currently (probably) sitting at the local post office to be delivered tomorrow (Hopefully ;.; ). >_____<

    13. Mine was a second hand Dollshe that I probably paid too much for, but I really wanted him. Anyway, the seller took a bit of time to mail him off, which made me antsy, but eventually I got a tracking number. I stayed awake all day waiting for the mail, (I work nights) and nothing. Later on that evening, I checked the tracking and saw they made an attempt to deliver at 6pm. I was back awake by then, and never heard a knock, so I rescheduled delivery for the next day. I sat there waiting for the mail carrier, and he said he thought he saw the package(I explained how big it was) but it was back at the station and he'd bring it out on Friday, the next day. I said ok, as long as he knows I'm expecting it.

Friday came, and the carrier knocked at the time he usually does, I opened the door and he asked, "is this what you're waiting on?" I think I grabbed the box and said yes!! XD

He said, "I realize why it didn't show up the other day, the sender transposed two of the numbers and it went to the wrong address, but I had another package for you, and I remembered you mentioned it and noticed the small box with your name, so I figured this was yours too" I thanked him, and told him how much the box was worth.

His mouth dropped open, and ask he could say was, "AND HE DIDN'T INSURE IT?"

That was my worst event and a very close call. Scared me silly.

    14. I've had some issues. Mostly face plants, and clothes dyeing (I'm a magic sponge expert :)). I had issues where I wasn't sure if my order went through, then wasn't sure if my payment went through, then found out it went through twice, where I didn't get a shipping notice, where someone sent an unintentionally heart wrenching e-mail to ask a question and then didn't respond to my reply because they had already decided to "fix" the issue. Basically communications issues.

My Carina head's sealant decided to start peeling off the day after I got her. :...( Which was horrid, however Iplehouse was nice and agreed to re-do the face-up :thumbup. According to the last e-mail she's on her way back home. I still need to find her a body though...

    15. I took a doll downstairs because I was thinking of selling her, I loved her very much but I found she made me sad, she was my first doll. My dolls are usually up high in my room and very safe, but I'd kept her downstairs to take photos. Someone brought a dog into the house and her face got very damaged.
I feel unbelievably guilty and sad. I had to mod her eyes and sand her face a bit, now I don't know what to do next :( I hope I can move on from this. Worst doll experience!!

(Oh, and once I paid for a doll in the wrong currency so paid almost double and was overdrawn because of it!)

    16. Ooh, these stories have really scared me- probably not the best reading material if you're already worried about something! :sweat

    17. My worst doll experiences:

When I ordered Doll Leaves Noir from the company, was so excited about receiving him, opened him up and instantly hated him, then continued to hate him every moment no matter what I tried to do to make him what I had wanted him to be. :(

When I decided to place an order for a body new from a company, and my friend also wanted one of their bodies -- so I told her we would purchase together and she would just give me the money personally. That was in December 2012, she was supposed to pay me back with her financial aid money (all of which got spent and I never saw a penny) -- to this day I have not seen any of the money for the body I agreed I was only helping her order, not giving her as a gift. And that's the last straw. Friendship over.

When I sold someone a doll head and they were incredibly rude to me the entire time and managed to make me feel threatened and intimidated into lowering my price on a head that I should have been able to get a fair amount for. :(

Every time I was doing a face-up for somebody else and I thought I had done it perfectly for them but we had miscommunicated somehow and then I have to start all over. :doh That is the most frustrating and discouraging feeling in the world to me. I am so thankful it doesn't happen that often!

That time when I had just purchased a new doll and it was delivered to my apartment office. The apartment manager thought it would be cute to let her 7 year old boy carry out a package with my doll in it that was bigger than him. It was not very funny to me at all when he dropped the package (which he was carrying vertically) straight down onto the ground. BREAKING my new girl's legs.

Ahhhhhhh and I almost forgot! That time (very early in the hobby) when I was scammed. I got my money back through paypal but I had wanted this head so badly, I was truly heartbroken.

    18. These stories are breaking my heart. I can't believe the audacity of some people.:| It's infuriating.

    19. Wow so many bad experiences...I'm amazed how you can still be in the hobby after all that, if it were me I'd probably die in a hole :o
      //back pat

    20. I hope you charged the manager with tampered property. If it's marked as fragile they should've just let you come and get it.
