WORST Doll Experience EVER

Apr 30, 2012

    1. Himekuri -- aw it's not so bad really. When you participate in anything enough you are bound to accrue your misfortunes -- they have by far made up the minority of my overall experiences.

Arashi Uchiha -- your sentiments are very understandable. I cannot describe how livid I was. However there were many factors in the situation -- like that the doll I purchased retailed for over $500 and I had bought her on Ebay for under $300 used , then there is simply the fact that I have extremely pronounced paranoia and felt like if I called the woman out on her grotesque error in allowing her child to break the contents of my package that I would be persecuted by her (the apartment management) in my living situation. . . I had a hard enough time feeling safe as it was, I didn't want to cause any problems. <-- My decision being to keep quiet I also had to decide not to be bothered by the broken legs -- I simply took the legs off of another trash body I had accrued over the years and modified the knee joints so I could make a clean and functional transplant from the knee down on the broken doll.

Honestly I like the body better now that she has a slightly different proportion with the new lower legs and feet. ;) It's not everyone's solution to a problem, but it's mine. I view the whole ordeal as something hilarious to have had happen to you in the hobby to be honest.

    2. You sound really strong and I think you are an inspiration for those who go through rough patches in this hobby.

It is heartbreaking to hear so many people have had such horrible things happen to them but it is also in a sense heartwarming because they haven't let it get to them and are still here to tell their story.

    3. I think I have two bad doll experiences, nothing too bad.

My first was when I first bout my DreamingDoll Misora. I waited for almost two hours on my front porch for the post man! He never came... Then my mother called me and said she had the notice for the box. My mother works at our towns high school and one of the teachers got the notice slip for the box because he lived on the other side of town. Our addresses are almost the same so he got the notice and saw my name. (He was my teacher in school, knows my mom) He took it to school with him and gave it to my mother.
I had to go to the school, get the notice, and I went right to the post office.:x The man at the counter was the one that had been making delivery's that day, and when I told him what happened he got this embarrassed look on his face and said it was his fault and gave me my package. I am not too mad at him now, but at the time I was.

My other bad experience was when I was sitting in my sisters room (She has many dolls too) with the same doll (DreamingDoll Misora) standing on her desk by her computer. I thought I was close enough to catch Cinnamon if she feel. Sis moves just a little bit and Cinnamon gos down! When I went to grab her, her head hit me right in the middle of MY head *_*. Her nose hit me so hard I was afraid her face-up was chipped. I was crying so much from the shock. But Cinnamon was FINE.... They make them dolls good lol.:sweat

    4. Honestly...it was when I bought a doll from eBay from someone I didn't know. There was no damage and the seller didn't deceive me or anything...but it took an ABSURD amount of work to get the eyelashes off! Just the eyelashes! I was sitting there with dish soap and a washcloth for maybe half an hour before I could scrub off all the adhesive. What a nightmare.

But it worked out in the end. ^_^

    5. One of my dolls arrived with a broken leg. But it wasn't that bad...I got a new one from the company. :)

    6. I dropped my brand new Soom Idealian72 just the minute I had finished his bodyblushing and he was complete. I'll never forget the sound of this huge heavy resin boy falling on the parquet floor. I was lucky, he just broke a little piece of resin at his ankle, glued it back and not visible anymore since he'll always wear boots.
About two weeks later I watched my Luts Bory falling down from the table in a cafรฉ, while the camera just found the perfect picture. Again I had much luck, Bory didn't get any scratch or broken parts (the floor at the cafรฉ was soft carpet)
Those were my worst experiences up till now, because since I own dolls (2008) I never had a doll dropping down accident.

    7. Oh my gosh, you are me! hehe

    8. This happened some time ago but my boy Alexander has been through a lot and is only three years old!
The magnet in his headcap kept coming loose so I decided, easy fix: superglue it back in there!

Sounds super easy right? It was until I was bumped and i got superglue over the top part of the headcap (the part that comes off)
It made it so his headcap wouldn't even sit right on his head :( there was no way this stuff was coming off so my dad took him to the sander and sanded down the extra superglue that had hardened.

luckily no one looks there and it is easily hidden but I felt so terrible that happened!

Also when I first got him he was just a head (before Crobidoll sold Yeon-Ho with a body) and I still took him everywhere because I was so proud to own one and he was mine (no face up, eyes, or wig but I still took him!) well he was sitting in my lap in the car when I forgot about him when I stood up, down he fell to the pavement. he had a dent in his chin, the tiniest one possible but I was so distraught I put him away and didn't touch him for two weeks. Luckily my talent friend covered it up with his beautiful face up so now I don't even see it :D

Otherwise its been pretty smooth sailing for me

    9. I would say that ordering my 5Star TongTong was, while not exactly horrible, a pretty stressful ordeal. The company told me that, when I order through layaway, they would get him all ready to go and ship him once he was all paid for. But in fact, they didn't even start him. They actually prepared and shipped at least a dozen orders that were made AFTER mine before they got to me. And the wig I wanted they claimed was out of stock and sent me some ugly thing. But it was never listed as "sold out" until recently. I ended up waiting three months for my boy to make it home.

    10. When I brought my doll to london, and was taking photo on the street, he fell over. Criess. Luckily he's okay!

    11. Wow, that was one lucky doll, and one miraculous chance for you. I'm glad he was undamaged and unhurt

I've had a couple bad experiences, one was with a transaction and in the end I just felt cheated. My buyer got away with two dolls, one full one and then a body, for not even a full price of one of them.
The second experience happened more recently, I restrung my RS Gang and the elastic ended up being ao incredibly tight. I had to use my needlenose tools to pull the s-hook up and the first time they slipped and I ended up chipping the resin on the inside of his head. It's not really noticable from the outside once the headcaps on but I felt so horrible and I still kind of do.

    12. Mine is definitely not as bad as others, but I was trying to dress my boy one day and realized I left his other shoe somewhere, so I left to get it and came back to find my dog licking his face. Needless to say, I freaked out and grabbed him away from my doll. Some of his faceup was ruined but it was an easy fix. The only thing I took away was to not ever leave him unattended again.:sweat

    13. My worst experience so far was definitely paying for a fullset limited edition doll from glorydoll and never receiving him. They were super slow at replying to emails, eventually said they would refund and then disappeared off the face of the earth. That was around two years ago now. No doll, no refund and it appears the company no longer exists so I definitely do my research now before buying. I'm hoping that now having access to DoA will help with that research :)

    14. I know this was posted last year, but I wish I could give you a hug! That's a horrible thing for friend to do!

    15. Dream of doll sent my first bjd to the wrong address, number 13 instead of 73, but the man that lived there was out when they delivered him so they dropped him off at a neighbours house half way down that roadl but didn't say where! luckily I knocked on a few doors and someone opened their door and had a box next to their door, I instantly stuck my hands out and screamed "eee that's mine!" He was almost lost to me I think :( I usually warn the companies to write my address clearly when sending my dolls now

    16. Mine all involve my cat. x.x

      1) my cat somehow reached REALLY FAR onto the bookshelf and knocked a doll onto the floor. It was a good 4 feet fall. Luckily there wasn't a scratch on her.

      2) I had my CP Delf sitting next to me. I turned my head and my cat was suddenly there with his paws on her lap. I was first like "aww" and I took a picture of them together. Then I looked down. In horror, I realized he had BIT HER HAND!! Luckily there wasn't too much damage. Just a few indentations. I filed them down with a nail file and you can barely see them... eheh... :/

Here's the photo before I realized he had bit her!
      Naughty kitty!!

I cannot trust this cat around my dolls!!

    17. My first package from MintOnCard has gone missing in the mail. It was marked as delivered on August 7th at 1:32pm and never actually arrived. Now, this is more an issue with the mail service than with a company or product. But seeing as this was my only birthday present this year it has to be the worst dolly experience. I've been collecting dolls since I was 7 and have never had a doll item stolen by the post office before (the stuff back then wasnt cheap either).
The post office has given me the run around about this package for the past four days, first telling me they can't find the package at all, now telling me I'm at the wrong post office and the one that handles the route I live on is not even in my city but in the next one.

    18. It's not exactly a horrible bjd experience. But I have had some more not so nice forum experiences that make you feel disliked and not worth talking to.

Most of the time you only find really nice people here. But there is times when you just not feel very welcome on certain threads. Either because you're new to a thread. Or because you have not visited a thread for a long time. When you first do, you feel like the others just ignore you. Sometimes when you give nice comments about someones doll, they just ignore you.

I don't expect everyone to talk to you and all the time. I understand people comment on what interest them or to really good forum friends. But It's kinda hurtfull when you feel disliked by someone. There have been people I have been terrified to talk to. I know all stories have two sides, and that they might think I'm the cold one to never speak to them. But because I'm scared, even though I really want to comment on some peoples dolls, I can't get my self do it.

Besides that I guess it is to see your favorite bjd sculpts discontinued before you get to order them. I really hated it when Dollmore discontinued so many of they're BJDs. Especially the one of a kind and really unique sculpts. I really wanted a Calvin and were shocked to see it discontinued. I guess that was one of my worst BJD experiences.

    19. for me it was two days after my girl arrived home and i had just restrung her and my dad came into my room to talk to me and my desk is right next to the door and he closed the door really hard..... she nose dived off the side of my desk hit my media station then smacked into the floor. I had a small heart attack thankfully shes perfect and undamaged

    20. In the grand scheme of things, my story isn't THAT bad just costly. A doll that I fell hard for finally arrived after 4 months but the company face-up was distractingly bad, not to mention he had a cracked thigh joint so I couldn't even play with him. Plus the expensive clothes I bought for him wouldn't fit even though he is supposed to be SD17 size. :? He was almost like this bad luck doll and I grew pretty cold about him. It made me sad. Luckily I found the perfect artist to "fix" him, the company sent a replacement leg quickly and he is now everything I wanted.
