WORST Doll Experience EVER

Apr 30, 2012

    1. OnlyDollLove, my new boy's S-Hook does that! I had to stuff so much eye putty in his neck/head to stop it!
Glad your finger is okay now, though!

    2. I have another one. I won a doll off of Ebay, and she got sent out...two day delivery, with insurance and signature required...and she never showed up. I went to the UPSP tracking site, and it said that she was missent. So...she got reprocessed through the PO, and ...GOT MISSENT AGAIN. (this was about 4 days, into the weekend) By this time I contacted the seller who called the post office, and said she said that they told her they would try and deliver again, but it they couldn't, they'd return it to her, and she would try to ship it again. Well, it actually showed up. The mail carrier's knocking woke me up from my sleep (i work nights). I have never sprung so fast out of bed for a package in my life. It took a week to get here, on what should have been a 2 day priority ship. The kicker was nothing was wrong with the address. Everything was correct...so someone must have been SERIOUSLY slacking off on their job.

    3. I've heard that a lot of PO workers just scan packages as attempted when they are either running a little late or the package is "too big" and they dont feel like delivering it. So this does not come as a surprise to me at all. I hate people that are this freakin lazy. I'm happy you got her though!

    4. You know, that was my thought. It wasn't a big box at all, BUT it was raining hideously the day she was supposed to be delivered. My regular mail carrier is excellent, knows me by name now (after delivering me so many packages...lol) and has actually found a package that was miss-addressed for me, and delivered it. So it must have been his day off.

    5. I was just going to mention this same thing, which has happened to me more than once with large packages and/or inclement weather. So glad your doll finally showed up, scurvygrrrl -- phew!

    6. Similar things have happened to me, as well. Also, I have had to sign for every single doll I've ever bought.

However, when I got my Dollmore Trinity Elysia, the box was so freaking huge that he just left it by door instead of getting a signature. A $2.3k doll was just sitting on my doorstep until I came back from college :/ My guess is he didn't want to have to lug it back onto his truck and back to the post office. Thankfully nobody stole her D:< And it's not like the package was hidden from curious eyes, it was a huge freaking box that everybody could see.

Other than that, the worst doll experience I've had was when Rosemary fell off my desk and broke two of her fingers -_- I've never had breakage like that and I felt so bad. But superglue fixed her up and she's alright now <3

    7. I would have had a fit if it had been left by the door, where anyone could see it. >.<

    8. PO workers are awful for that! I had a huge box with my lizard's really expensive new bulb in just left by my door, I was even in the house! He didn't knock, I saw him leave it there and opened the door, he was already out of my front gate, and turned around and went "I left it there for you". I could see that, that's why I didn't look happy!

Also, new worst doll experience. Stringing a 72cm doll, only to get to his last foot, and as you reach the S-Hook up to the elastic, the elastic untied itself! Rage!

    9. I had a post office worker leave my floating head's box IN THE BUSHES. Like he set it down out of sight..It was by pure chance that I was checking around for mail and such so thank GOD I found her before it got too hot. They also left my MP3 player INFRONT OF THE DOOR it almost got knocked off the porch when I opened it.

    10. I don't remember if I allready said this one but one of my worst ones was buying a doll to restore which was listed as yellowed, then finding out when it had arrived that the seller had decided to spray paint the doll brown before she posted it to cover up the yellowing! without a word, just spray painted it after the auction, the spray paint was also very uneven, some parts were only painted on one side, then it took me over a week of scrubbing and gentle sanding to get all the damn paint off XD

    11. I was doing a shoot with my new BJD at the time standing on top of a desk so I could get a low angle of her body when I knocked the side of the desk and she wobbled and tumbled down!
I didn't have time to decide whether I dropped my camera or let her fall, so I just awkwardly kind of did both... she broke three fingers on her left hand clean off and I got no decent photos :( such a waste!

    12. My Saint once fell and broke off one of his fingers. This wasn't the first time a doll of mine fell, but my Saint is very dear to me and of course he would be the first one to be actually damaged by falling down to the ground -__-

2008, when I got my first doll, I visited the biggest German Anime/Manga convention, and I had my doll with me for a dollmeet.
He was sitting on my arm and someone accidentaly knocked their elbow against his head. Somehow the S-hook twisted itself out of these little dents in the neck and the head came loose, flew away several meters and rolled over solid concrete. My heart stopped for a second but the head was magically not damaged at all, same for the face-up! However, afterwards I decided to never take a doll with me to a convention anymore.
      On the same convention I also lost his wig twice while walking around, but every time someone picked it up for me and gave it back ;u;

When my girlfriend got her first doll I gave it a face-up and afterwards tried to put the head back on the body. While I desperately tried to pull the knot of the strings through the neck-hole the knot suddenly came loose and I smashed my fist including the s-hook in my hand into my face.
Gladly the s-hook did not harm me, especially since I managed to hit my eye with my fist x__x

When I unpacked my SSDF body for the first time and started playing with it, the breast joint suddenly snapped forwards and my thumb was jammed between stomach and breast. He was VERY tightly strung and with one hand I had a really hard time to free my thumb. It hurt like mad and I was glad when I finally was able to pull the thumb out, which was already turning blue.

    13. Oh man. I have two of these. So first off, I have this absolutely beautiful tan skin Islanddoll Eric. I had taken him to my mom's place while I was moving in, and left him on a shelf thinking he'd be safe while I went to go get more stuff. (He sits really sturdily, and his back was against a wall.) So I come back to put more of my stuff in place and my mom is wringing her hands when she meets me at the door. When I ask her what's wrong, she said she had someone over and they moved him without asking, and they sat him up on the top shelf and he fell. He'd broken three fingers. I was furious. Luckily I have amazing friends with amazing husbands and they are all amazing with glue.

Incident number two: So my boyfriend has been wanting to get me a doll to shell a character for a while now. This character is very dear to me and I was incredibly particular about the way the sculpt needed to look. We settled on an OnlyDoll doll (can't remember the sculpt now for the life of me) and ordered him from mint on card. They shipped him out fine, but the tracking kept updating that he was all over the place. Finally he checked into the frisco post office, which was twenty minutes from where we were so we thought he'd be there the next day. Two days later we call the post. "Oh.. Yeah... Uh... We don't know where that is. Uh.. We could refund it if you want." Yeah. No. I was in tears. We ended up getting the refund from the post, and I shelled the character with a doll I bought locally. Not the first time the post has lost my mail though. Still mad about it.

    14. Bringing this back from the dead. Ive had two expiriences...one was when I paid a hefty amount on Kalix. I coukd have gotten him cheaper but I loved THIS kalix. I loved his hands and his faceup(he was second hand) When he arrived his hands were broken and while I was stringing him I noticed there were 2 right lower legs instead of a right and a left...disappointment. :/ on top of that his head and hands were slightly more yellow then the rest of him :( I still find him hunky but still...

Another incident was I traded a soul double doll brand new with company faceup (ugh she was stunning but my fiance made me feel guilty so I tried to sell her but someone offered a trade) they wanted to trade some resin pieces and some clothes and I accepted. When the items arrived the clothes were poor fitting and ugly...regret that trade :/

I guess thats the risk with buying and selling on the marketplace sometimes. Live and learn.

    15. When I got my first doll (an Angelregion Ren girl) I found out you could use a hair dryer to remove hot-glued eyes. She was tightly strung and I didn't feel like going through the trouble of wrestling with her headcap and s-hook, so instead of removing the headcap entirely I just sort of pushed it back on her head and went to town on the glue. Once the eyes were removed I tried to pop the headcap back in place...and found that the heat from the dryer had caused the cap to warp the head cavity where the cap had pressed against it. Instead of being perfectly round, there were indentations in it. The cap couldn't go back on. I posted to DoA in a panic and someone suggested warming the head again and pushing the dents out, which fixed the problem. Served me right for being careless.

    16. Oh god!!! yeah i can imagine the adrenaline and fear pumping through your veins if something like that happened! lol! glad he survived the fall!

    17. Annd I feel like my beloved kalix is cursed. I had him out standing with a table for support. He was fine as long as no one moved the table. Well my son was playing a video game not paying aytention and started wiggling all around and pushed the table causing him to fall foreward and break a finger off his hand...his unbroken hand. Ugh I have half a mind to just sell him on the marketplace...

    18. Currently my worst doll experience yet was yesterday.. I got my Ringdoll Sol in the mail. Rest of the afternoon was spent on doing a faceup within the short amount of time i had. I managed it and its not horrible, but its not the best i could do... but it works for now! I put his head back on and tried to stand him up on my desk and as was straightening out his legs to get him to balance, his torso sprang forward and his forehead hit the top of my head (area above my forehead). It was painful and i am still feel the pain of it today with an onset of headaches, and i cant for the life of me concentrate. XD; I guess he was not pleased and decided to give me a bash to the skull. :sweat

He may have not have fallen or broken anything, nor got lost in the mail... But that is a day i will remember for the rest of my life. The day my beloved doll gave me a concussion!

I have had my bad experiences with restringing gone wrong and getting pinched and kicked, but this takes the cake for me. For now this is the worst experience i have had yet, but that's just me. :sweat

    19. For me it was when I had my girl Sai for the first day. She was the absolute most expensive thing I'd ever owned at all. I was trying ot get some pictures of her standing in some sexy heels, and I turned around for a moment leaving her standing and that's when she decided to take a nose dive.

She hit the side of my mini fridge on her way down. Her factory face up had half of her eyeliner scraped clean off like somebody peeled it off. My heart sank I;d had her less than 48 hrs. I was ready to put my head through a wall. But luckily my best friend was able to fix it back just fine so I didn't have a corinary xD

    20. Oh gosh, I've had quite a few bad experiences, which one was the worst?

I think it's got to be the day I broke my B&G body's finger off. I was trying to pull his hand through a sleeve by the finger. I wasn't even pulling that hard but for some reason it just snapped clean off. It was the first time I'd ever damaged a doll and I was devastated. I ran around my student house for ten minutes holding the broken finger in the air and declaring to my housemates how much of an idiot I was (in not-so-nice language). Then I calmed down and realised I could probably just buy replacement hands pretty cheap. I looked it up online and yep, I could. Panic over.
