WORST Doll Experience EVER

Apr 30, 2012

    1. I'd have to say the worst experience turned me away from a sculpt forever.

I found out that someone that I knew was selling a minifee Rheia that I really admired. She had been painted by a friend of mine and was coming with quite a few extras. I had a lot of stuff set aside for her. Once I had paid her off I let the person know and I figured they would let me know when they shipped they doll out. After a week I didn't hear anything, they IMed me asked me if I had gotten the doll. I replied that I hadn't and they told me that the package was delivered. I was rather suprised since I had never recieved the tracking number and nothing had shown up. Turns out that it was delivered 3 days beforehand (since I never recieved the tracking I had no clue) and it wasn't insured either. I ended up filing a police report but at that point there was nothing I could do. I've tried owning that sculpt again but I end up selling it because it makes me too sad to keep.

    2. She wasn't on DOA, she was on another doll forum...one I trusted until now. I probably won't be posting anything else for sale there.
And of course, after I wrote this, the doll was marked as Delivered....So I guess it's gone.

    3. Accidentally knocking over my friend's Volks SWD Kaede on to my hardwood floor. This was years ago-- years!-- maybe five? And the doll was okay, not even a scratch (though the magnet got knocked out of the headcap). But I was a wreck. My friend was perfectly sweet about it, but my hands were shaking. I kept my distance from all of the dolls after that and for quite some time, too. It was the fear of potentially wrecking someone else's BJD (and her dream doll to boot) that just freaked me out something awful.

    4. My worst experience wasn't too bad at all. I tried to restring a 70cm doll with standard SD elastic - well, you can imagine the rest.

    5. WOW I am never not going to do this now.

    6. Nothing too big, but i was taking pictures of a doll and two different times she face planted, once in the garden and once on the wooden deck. Luckily she is okay ^^

    7. The last couple of days ive been obsessing over Minifee Rin.

Today I wrote out a prescription for Minrin (Desmopressin) for one of my patients.
      Then the pharmasist called me.

Apparently I wrote out a prescription for 0,2 mg Minifee.

    8. Oh my gosh, that is too much, cyberspacegirl. Hope it didn't cause too much of a mess. xD

    9. LOL sorry, but that's hilarious XD

I have several bad experiences. My worst one was when a head was sent to me for a commission and DHL delivered in a bag, but I could feel a box inside. When I opened the bag, the box was completely ruined. It looked like a metal bar had fallen on it and went through the box. So DHL, instead of contacting the sender, shoved it in a bag and delivered anyway.

Needless to say, the head was completely destroyed.

I had to contact the person who commissioned me to let her know the head arrived that way to me. She was very upset and then informed me that she hadn't insured the parcel.

In the end, she gave the head to me and sent me another, this time through a different company and insured.

It was very sad to look a new head all messed up.

    10. I have been pretty lucky so far. I did give myself a scare when I mixed the zip code when I shipped my doll head to Canada for a new face up. But he arrived safe and sound. Man was I on edge waiting to hear from the artist.

    11. My worst doll experience was..when I sent off my SD doll head off to get a face up. I thought that the 'free' faceup was good because I had others for free before. At first she was sweet and sent me pictures then I did not have any contact at all. I did asked other people in the area about her, no one knew her in the community and I never got my doll head back. I could not even look at my sd anymore even after I bought another head.I do not think I will be able to have any SDs anymore.

    12. My recent horror story isn't so bad but I don't think I can trust people as much after that.

I was on a con with my doll and second evening I went of to another city to a concert, I was selling with a close friend on that con and she promised that she would stay the whole con. After a few hours I arrived to the concert an acquaintance in the hobby that also where selling on the con texted me that my friend just threw my stuff on her, INCLUDING my doll and just left! I paniced but was told that it was okey and the one that texted me promised that my thing was in safe hands. But I felt betrayed that it was so suddenly and she didn't told me that herself!

Everything was okey and my doll didn't have a scratch on her, but I lost my respect and trust on that close friend. Even after she told me she didn't feel well and that was the reason she left. I feel like a bitch for that.

    13. That really sucks. But keep pursuing it if you can. You never know you may get the doll or the item you were promised. I have been lucky with trades. I hope it stays that way.

    14. One of my resin girls was assaulted by my Maine Coon cat (yes, the one that is my avatar, but he's full a grown 18 pounds now). I keep the bjd dolls in a closed room, so the cats can't knock them over or play with any stray ribbons or ties.

One day, I was about to redress one of the girls and I brought her into the master bedroom and placed her on the bed. I went back to the doll room to retrieve the new outfit. In the time it took me to walk down the hall and back ... maybe 60 seconds at the most ... the cat was literally laying on top the doll ... pinning her down, like she was his prey...and he had chewed both her thumbs off!!! It was a bizarre sight. I didn't know whether to laugh or cry.

I ended up replacing her hands. I never thought a cat would do that. A dog ... maybe ... but a cat? The smell of the resin must have attracted him and he thought it was something to eat. Anyway ... now I know. Never let the cats mingle with the dolls. :o

    15. Just two days ago I had a friend watch my child at my home so i could, for the first time since he was concieved try my hand on face-ups again. I did kind of a smashing job, then fell asleep with my son. My friend tried to help, so when i was asleep she sprayed an extra layer of MSC.

She had never used a spraycan before, so she 1. did not shake. 2. sprayed from about an inch. 3. used about half the can.

No need to paint the pciture of what my doll looked like after that. Especially the ears that are just completely filled up with msc.

    16. The first... and last.. doll meet-up I went to someone continually insinuated my dolls were cheap and just not as good as their Volks then proceeded to pick up one of my dolls by the face. I nearly had a heart attack. It was one of mine with a really expensive custom face-up. It was pretty upsetting.

    17. The worst thing that happened to me was opening one of my dolls that was ordered direct from the company only to find that his ear had broken during shipping. The shipping box was too small so they had taped extra pieces of cardboard onto this box to it to make it larger and his faceplate was not secured very well inside the box so it made me sad that it could have been prevented. The brown shipping box literally fell apart after I had opened it and had to be thrown away. They did make it right and generously sent me a new faceplate for him so in the end it was fine, but I would really have to love one of their dolls to buy from them again.

    18. I would've slapped that person...No seriously if someone dared touch my property after insulting it they would have to drag me away from that meet up. I hate jerks and I don't mind people at meet ups picking up my dolls but I think if anyone there showed up being a jerk they'd pay. I'm sorry you had such a horrible experience.

    19. ^ Yeah, agreed. It's bad dolly etiquette to even touch other people's dolls without asking, but to pick up another person's doll by the face?! WTF! Someone who has coughed up the dough for a Volks is obviously invested enough in the BJD hobby to know better than that. How unbelievably rude. I probably would have immediately left the meetup and freaked out/cried in my car for a few minutes. And like you, I would never go back to another BJD meetup. I'm sorry that person was such a careless asshole with your beloved doll.

    20. I have an old delf WooSoo head, and I decided to put it on a Feeple body.
      Well.
The body was, obviously, strung very tightly as it was new.
And the delf head is the old type where you attach the S hook to the headcap so the head stays on.
So I had to remove the Feeple neck piece (which almost killed me).
I got pinched, my fingers were bruised, my hands had rope burn, I broke all my nails on one hand, and when I FINALLY got it loose the S hook slipped and it cracked his neck open.
When I finally got him put together the opening for his neck was COVERED in chips. He had scratches on his lower neck that showed really bad. He had a crack down the side of his neck.
I was sorta young and I cried because I damaged this brand new body that I had spent so much money on C':
Years and years later I'm still terrified of taking dolls apart because I have this fear of damaging them while reassembling :l
