It has come to the attention of forum staff that Dollshe Craft has ceased communications with dealers and customers, has failed to provide promised refunds for the excessive waits, and now has wait times surpassing 5 years in some cases. Forum staff are also concerned as there are claims being put forth that Dollshe plans to close down their doll making company. Due to the instability of the company, the lack of communication, the lack of promised refunds, and the wait times now surpassing 5 years, we strongly urge members to research the current state of this company very carefully and thoroughly before deciding to place an order. For more information please see the Dollshe waiting room. Do not assume this cannot happen to you or that your order will be different.

WORST Doll Experience EVER

Apr 30, 2012

    1. Which doll company was it if you dont mind me asking? There are some doll companies that have went under because of poor customer service, poor quality dolls, etc. It could very well be that they were overwhelmed because they got a ton of orders. Especially if they are a small company. It's really hard to be patient for something that you've spent a lot of money on. Especially when you are ordering from overseas etc. But at least you learned from the experience ^^

    2. In addition to that get really good pictures of his face up and save them, if all else fails and you have to dye him, look for someone you can commission who can do the face up again and make it clear that you are just looking to restore your favorite doll.

    3. waiting 7 months on a doll.. when i arrived the doll looked nothing like the picture... faceup was awful, rushed.

    4. The stories about the postal service on this thread kind of scare me! I've walked up to my house just in time to see the FedEx guy throw a parcel from my front gate to the doorstep (he got a very sarcastic "thanks!") and I've come home to parcels left on the floor outside my building. It doesn't seem to make any difference if the parcel has "fragile" on it. I'm kind of worried about having an expensive delicate doll delivered!

    5. Were you waiting 15-30 days as in Sunday through Saturday? Or Monday through Friday?? Most doll companies go by business days not counting weekends.

    6. WOW! I had heard that you had two dolls ran over, but WOW! I hope that that jerk that didn't pay you back "got his," as it were! I would have taken him to small claims court! :x

*HUUUGGG* You have my condolences but its great so see you back and doing faceups! :love

Honestly, if it was me, I'd dye him anyway and turn him into a patchwork boy. Its sad that he's being hidden away, out of sight. :( I wish you luck with him.

    7. Wow! I'd call the main office and complain! I see a lot of lazy things delivery people do, but fortunately none of them have done that to me because I'd probably demand they get fired >:/

    8. Our mail carrier once pitched a doll box over the fence. It was tall enough that the only way she could have gotten it over was to toss it. No damage done, at least. Another package (not a doll, mercifully) once wound up in an isolated corner of the yard...either the carrier chose a really weird place to toss it, or the dogs got hold of it and dragged it over there. I'm so happy I've moved since then!

    9. I've had a number of things happen to me, and mostly to my boy Ryuichi (OE Delf Shiwoo.) :sweat

When Ryuichi was around six months old, I wanted to get a few pics of him by a huge puddle in the backyard of my apartment complex. It had stormed the night before and since the original road bricks were showing through the worn-away asphalt, I thought it would be a perfect in-scale lake. So on a windless day, there Ryuichi, Kumagorou and I are, taking pics when out of nowhere, one gust of wind hit Ryuichi and managed to knock him into the muddy water onto HARD one hundred year old bricks. Of course I instantly snatched him out of the puddle, I don't think he was in it 5 seconds.

Poor Ryuichi lost an eyelash from his factory faceup, broke three fingers off one hand, dented his nose pretty badly and some of the dirt was ground into his forehead. Crying my eyes out (I don't cry very often, maybe once every few years), I went into the 'HELP! emergency' section here on DoA (does it still exist? :?) and poured my heart out asking for help. That was when I found out that resin holds a memory and to try steaming his nose. I did and the nose popped halfway back out, but I ended up having to sand his nose. I really love how cute his nose now looks because of it. And since I had originally planned on having the Dreaming Shiwoo head I was gifted with as his serious!mode head, I had to sand down that nose as well. The Dreaming head ended up becoming Ryuma, his identical twin brother, so now they BOTH have the really cute rounded nose instead of the classic "ski slope" nose that most Shiwoo have. :D

Two and a half hours of sanding with a magic eraser helped with the dirt in his forehead, but if you look really close even today, you can still see the slightest bit of dirt there, even through his latest faceup. He ended up with jointed hands because of this escapade, I ended up with a hand for my favorite hoodie that I clipped on it to remind me that "resin isn't as tough as I used to think it was," and when I later looked, I managed to find his middle finger, which I stuck in his headcap. So now, when he looks at people, he's "mentally giving them the finger!"

When I went to my brother's wedding a few years ago, I took Ryuichi with me so I'd have something to do on a 13 hour drive to Minneapolis. I managed to get some pretty good pics whenever we stopped, so I was really happy I took him with me.

But, the event also meant that I had to wear the colors of the wedding, which were navy blue and white. So, I put on navy blue fingernail polish to match my outfit, let it dry and then went to the rehearsal dinner. When I came back to the hotel, I wanted to take some pics of Ryuichi with one of the flower settings I was allowed to take with me since I liked it so much. (So much so that I still use my favorite one as my icon pic :aheartbea )I took a bunch of pics, and then went to bed. The next morning, I realized that Ryuichi had two blue streaks from my nail polish on his cheek. :o I tried to take them off with soap and water, no luck. So after the wedding was over, I magic erasered them...and only managed to take off his faceup in the two areas. :doh I ended up having to get him a new faceup yet again.

No one else out of my seven has given me as much trouble as this boy, but I wouldn't trade him for anything!

      Ryu

    10. That's insane! I'd be happy I moved too!
I don't think our carrier would ever do anything like that...but she's just left and we have a new, younger person (which scares me lol - gotta give her a chance though!), so hopefully she'll be as good as the old one. I have no idea what happens to my stuff before it hits here however - one doll I ordered from Dollmore came to me with such horrible damage to the shipping box I reached through a hole in the box and pulled the SD-sized doll box out of it. Luckily all the extra stuff I ordered had been packed in one large plastic bag or I'm sure I'd have been missing items. The doll didn't suffer any damage either, thanks to Dollmore's insane cocoon of bubble wrap. But it was still terrifying to see. I don't even want to know what that poor box went through to look like that.

    11. worst experience is a factory defects... I got my new cp lishe and I saw a tiny tiny tiny almost invisible crack... but due to age (8 years) and weather the crack hasn't got bigger just more noticeable.. I am still upset that the factory had such a defect!

    12. I'm going through the worst experience so far RIGHT NOW. Bought a doll head, some outfits, wigs and eyes on layaway. Wasn't going to buy it at first, but seeing what eyes were included pushed me over the edge. Halfway throughout the layaway the seller told me "something happened" to the eyes, so you couldn't sell them to me anymore and that she would include a different pair of eyes. I was very said that I couldn't get the eyes that were originally in the sale, but I was glad she at least did include a different pair. After finishing the layaway I asked the seller to put a certain amount on the package, since Dutch customs are pretty strict. So, my package got send and after a couple of days the package arrived in the Netherlands.I was really happy, thinking it'll be no more than 2 days before the package it would be delivered to me! ...Until I received a notification in the tracking that they couldn't determine the value on the package. I contacted the seller and it turns out that she didn't put a value on the custom declaration form, because the lady at the post office told her she didn't have to. Stupid post lady, of course you have to write a value! How else will customs now if the package is duty free or not :/?? Customs send me a form and I expected to receive it withing 2 or 3 days. Almost two weeks later I STILL didn't get a form! So I made sure a message was send to the custom clearance department that I didn't receive the form. I also noticed that they did put the right housenumber in the tracking put not the addition to the housenumber.. So I also included that in the message. I don't know if the sender even put the addition for the housenumber on the package in the first place. After 30 days they will send the package back, so I'm getting really nervous now. I haven't received a respond to my message yet, nor a new form to declare the value.

As if that wasn't bad enough, I also noticed that the seller put up a new sale. For a head. With the eyes she sold to me in the first place that had ''something happen to them". I contacted the seller about it and she said that she had 3 pairs of the eyes. It is beyond me why she couldn't send me a pair! That made me so angry. You can't just decide to keep something you sold in the first place and tell the buyer ''something happened to it'' when it didn't! Because I feel that is what happened.

I just hope that I'll receive the customs form this week and be done with it. I don't even care if I have to pay a clearance fee or tax at this point, I just want my girl home and get this over it.

    13. One my dolls (DS 20cm Mic) refuses to fit any pre-made clothing.
So far she has had over thirty dresses bought for her that she can't wear.
My gf has a doll of the same sculpt as her first and having the same problem is frustrating her to the point she feels like giving up on perusing the hobby all together.

    14. It sounds to me like you're either 1.) going to have to commission clothes or 2.) learn to sew. Either way, good luck.

When I first got Tatsuha his Spiritdoll Proud v2 body in 2010, no one but Spiritdoll made clothes for such a beefy 70cm boy! I managed to find some pants that were designed to be loose on skinny 70 boys to fit him, but they never stayed fastened when he sat down. I also experimented with Luts SSDF sweaters and found that even though they were REALLY tight on him, once I got them on past his broad shoulders, they fit pretty well. But for the most part, I ended up having to commission or make clothes for him for a while, until other companies began making clothes to fit him.

Ohpelia137, maybe you should actually go to the post office and try to straighten things out. Good luck!

    15. Ryuichi Sakuma 13- Thank you so much for your support, I only hope that I saved another poor doll owner from going through the same thing I did!
I'm sorry to hear about Ryuichi's nose! I'm sure his and his brothers' noses are really cute now though :)

    16. Its cool, I actually prefer Ryuichi and Ryuma's noses being rounded, its really cute now. So it worked out better for me. :)

Its a horrible lesson, but I'm willing to bet your experience has helped others. :3nodding:

    17. Alas I had the exact same thing happen to me with my first doll, many years ago. Dutch customs kept him 60 days before they decided the reciept i send them was legit.

    18. My worst doll expirance ever was when robers enter my home and stole and destroyed my dolls :< to make matters worst they let my dogs lose into the room( probably freaked when they found them on the other room and left without taking anything else) making chew up the remanents of my dolls u.u i cried so badly that day

    19. I can say I TOTALLY agree with you. I would be dragged away by the police. My husband would have to bail me out. How DARE someone not only insult you but then treat your expensive personal items like crap!! OH H**L no!!! I would be livid!!

    20. Seriously, I think the sort of behavior that person displayed would've been the kind of behavior that would've got them SHUNNED from our local meet up group.
