1. It has come to the attention of forum staff that Dollshe Craft has ceased communications with dealers and customers, has failed to provide promised refunds for the excessive waits, and now has wait times surpassing 5 years in some cases. Forum staff are also concerned as there are claims being put forth that Dollshe plans to close down their doll making company. Due to the instability of the company, the lack of communication, the lack of promised refunds, and the wait times now surpassing 5 years, we strongly urge members to research the current state of this company very carefully and thoroughly before deciding to place an order. For more information please see the Dollshe waiting room. Do not assume this cannot happen to you or that your order will be different.

WORST Doll Experience EVER

Apr 30, 2012

    1. Not much of a disaster compared to some, but mine would have to be dolls not arriving and being returned to sender because my address was autocorrected.

    2. Hmmm... My worst doll experience? I've had bad dreams about damage, and constantly fear the postman, who is crappy where I live, damaging a doll. When Dollzone Fox came, I spent a good ten minutes wrestling her of out of the mailbox. I now wonder if that's how her eyelashes initially got damaged, because the photos on the thread I got her from showed that they were fine. However, shortly after owning her, within a day, I noticed that they weren't.

I also have a doll that I think was maybe cracked by her previous owner or during shipping. But, she's okay. That was really upsetting.

But, I have another pretty bad experience, my worst so far. A while back, I restrung my Bobobie Ophelia. She's very, very old, made somewhere around 2007 (her previous owner said it was a few years before 2009, so this when I assume she was made, factoring in things I remember about her previous owner too). It was a pretty horrifying process in itself, considering that that was the first time I had ever restrung a doll. Anyway, I ended up really screwing up her S-hook (I later found out that it wasn't my fault. Apparently, older Bobobie dolls had crappy S-hooks.). But, she held together and I decided to take her to an anime convention. Her eyes were held in with orange eye putty, which, honestly didn't bother me that much. But, when I was buying her a wig, a fellow BJD lover offered to give me some regular putty at a meet-up, because you could really see that it was orange. I agreed, very happy about it. I got to the meet-up and struggled to replace her eyes with her head on. When I had restrung her, I accidentally had made it so it was impossible to get her head off because 1) the elastic was not long enough to easy get the head back on her (Oops!) and 2) messing with her S-hook was a bad idea. I knew this. But, this other owner either took her head off or talked me into taking her head off and then she fell apart! The S-hook just collapsed and poor Lily was now a puddle of resin parts! The owner with the eye-putty just kind of ran off and left me with my doll in pieces. I almost cried and was panicking. Luckily though, the girls at the meet strung her properly and a dealer at the convention gave me an S-hook for free. All in all, it turned out pretty well. I walked away with free eye-putty and an appropriate strength S-hook for my SD girl. It wasn't a total disaster, just really, really, scary. I'm lucky that it happened at a doll meet where the ladies of my very lovely community put her back together.

    3. Wow, chanarivka, you were really lucky that that happened at a meet and that the other collectors helped you put her back together! Phew!

    4. And now, I tell this story laughing. It was so scary at the time though!

And yes, I am so thankful I was with other doll owners!

    5. Emergency Doll Surgery FTW. XD Yeesh though that girl who caused her head to come off was a coward for running. Glad your girl got put back together.

    6. You know, I have another pretty bad experience that's going on right now.

My parents bought me a Dollzone Eudora for Christmas. I ordered it on 12/08/13 with my mom from MoC and it was submitted to Dollzone on 12/30/13. Most of the November orders were shipped in February, so I expected to have my doll in March or mid-April. And then everything just froze. A few December orders have been shipped, but Dollzone said that the doll won't be ready until some time in MAY, and then I have to wait even longer for MoC to ship the doll to me.

I've only ever dealt with secondhand dolls before, and this honestly will probably be the last time I ever order a new doll.

    7. you mean 12/08/13 right? XD

Wow... that really sucks! I cant believe they are that far behind! It seems like christmas really hit a lot of bjd companies pretty hard. Iplehouse is behind right now too :/

    8. So far...
*Having my boy pitch backwards and landing on his head while still in my arms (don't ask my how it happened, his knee was acting up)
*Having the headcap fly out of my hand and landing on hard floor on the other side of the room - luckily, it didn't break.
*Taking a photo far away and seeing my doll slowly pitch forward through the lens - I think I threw myself forward as fast as I could and caught him.
*Stepping on a face that was drying on the floor - my room is very small.

    9. I think my worst doll experience I can think of was pretty funny. I am pretty comfortable leaving my dolls standing unaided. I feel like I know their abilities pretty well so I don't worry about it much. I was at a hotel for a con and had my at the time owned Volks Olivia Morgan boy with a hard to replace faceup standing on a table like you do when someone bumped the table and he took a gigantic dive for the marble floor and hit it so hard his head cap with flying off and skittered across the lobby.

I couldn't even react for a few seconds. I just stood there staring until it kicked in that I should go find his head cap before it was lost in the crowd. I retrieved it and picked up my doll and was thankful for Volks resin because there was nary a scratch or dent on him.

    10. Oh whoops! Yes, I meant 2013. I have since corrected it, thanks!

And wow, those are some scary stories.

    11. I just remembered something else.

Last weekend, I went to a meet-up at a local doll shop, Fabric Friends and Dolls. The owner there is so good to us, and we have a great symbiotic relationship with her. She was nice enough to open her shop to us, and fed us, and let us hold our meet-up there. Of course, plenty of us bought items from her, to support her.

But we found an empty wig box after some people had left. We think the wig may have been misplaced, but there's also really good chance that it was stolen. I don't remember seeing anyone with the wig that was taken, but it's just really, really sad. She opened her shop to us, and they couldn't be bothered to pay 30 dollars to help support Iris.

Oh sorry! I didn't mean to double post!

    12. Well, that sucks big time. Hopefully time will pass by quickly for you. Not all companies are that slow; I have an Dikadoll AAAAA (boy) and he arrived two-three months after I ordered him.

    13. It has so far, and Dollzone has stated that MintonCard dolls will ship in May. It's just really frustrating. I am glad to hear that not all companies are that slow though.

    14. dollzone is notorious for taking ages. I bought a pair of shoes from them through MoC and it took them like 3 months to finish MoC's order just so I could have my shoes x.x I had bought a Doll Leaves Vanesa at the same time I bought the shoes (the order with her in it was placed by MoC before the shoe order) and she arrived at MoC in 5 weeks. Needless to say, I could have received her around the 20th of April 2013 (she arrived at MoC April 16th) but instead I got her in June :/

    15. Not so much my worst experience but the weirdest.

So last meet up I attended, I was standing at a table talking to some girls, we all had our dolls poses, my tiny and Yo-SD standing by one girl's Centaur and my tiny at the feet of an SD. We never figured out how it happened but three times there was a doll avalanche and my little ones got knocked over in the calamity. One girl got clocked in the head by her SD, and I wound up catching someoen's MSD and my Yo-SD thankfully landed on someone's doll bag...My tiny was planking. It was just so strange. XD This happened that many times too and no one had touched the dolls we were all standing there nearly the entire time.

    16. I guess I'm lucky in that I haven't had any horrible experiences with this hobby. The first time I tried restringing one of my dolls was when I got the HK Unicorn version of Miel from Lati. I wanted to put on her human feet but she was strung reeeaaallly tightly. I think it took me close to an hour just to get off the first hoof. All my fingers were sore and I had pinched at least one of them. I also ended up scratching the paint on the bottom of the hoof.

It's not really a big deal since it's on the bottom and no one will see... and it's not like I ever use those parts anyways. But I mean, I was in college then and this order had cost over $500 (more than my rent!) so it kind of sucked to ding it right after opening it!

Another experience was not exactly with BJDs but I sold a different type of doll to someone on another forum. They had PM'ed me their address but I had just used the address that was on their Paypal. Turns out this person had MOVED and hadn't updated her Paypal address or set up any sort of mail forwarding. I didn't realize this until I had returned home from the post office later that day. I sent a panicked PM to the buyer and called the post office. The lady there was nice but told me that she basically couldn't do anything because it was already on the truck. Luckily the person at the address just returned the packaged. It showed back up on my doorstep about a week later, the box heavily battered to the point that I couldn't reuse it (USPS what the heck are you guys doing?). The buyer was very nice and understanding and even paid half of the 2nd shipping fee so it all ended well, though I did take a loss on the doll since I originally included free shipping on the sale. Now I always double check the addresses I have to make sure they match!

    17. Preach it, sister. I have never been so grateful for Volks resin than when I tipped my friend's Volks over by accident (onto hardwood floors!) and it was fine.

    18. I ordered a Dollzone Doll in Oct early Nov from MoC. Mine came in about the end of March, about 4 1/2 months wait time. Yours in running a little behind, but DZ was closed for 2 weeks in January for the Chinese New Year. That is probably why you have the delay until May for the doll to be finished.

I have been very happy with MoC and any of the new dolls I ordered from them. They are great to work with and layaway makes a new doll possible for me. However, I need to be poor for a while now.

    19. I feel your pain!! I order mine order early January! :( I still haven't got it yet...

    20. I'm waiting on a Dollzone order too! (To replace the momocolor order that will likely never come) But I ordered February, so I know I still have awhile... *_*
