1. It has come to the attention of forum staff that Dollshe Craft has ceased communications with dealers and customers, has failed to provide promised refunds for the excessive waits, and now has wait times surpassing 5 years in some cases. Forum staff are also concerned as there are claims being put forth that Dollshe plans to close down their doll making company. Due to the instability of the company, the lack of communication, the lack of promised refunds, and the wait times now surpassing 5 years, we strongly urge members to research the current state of this company very carefully and thoroughly before deciding to place an order. For more information please see the Dollshe waiting room. Do not assume this cannot happen to you or that your order will be different.

WORST Doll Experience EVER

Apr 30, 2012

    1. Aah, those waiting for DZ orders, I feel your pain! D: Last year I ordered my first doll from them in Feb and I got it some time in.. June? July? I feel like it was July. (at least I was waiting with a friend though since we had ordered together so we shared the pain XD )

As for worst experiences.. They're far from the worst, for all the things I've read in this thread, but they put a real damper on things for me.
I actually only got into the hobby last year through a friend I'd met at college, and ordered my DZ Ro. I was so super excited, making plans, using photoshop to doodle face-up ideas, giving personality. I was talking about it all with someone I considered a very dear friend online. Immediately she turned her nose up and said she hated them, that they were creepy and she never wanted to hear about them. Later it turned out that she was pretty mad at me for spending the money because she thought I should have been saving up to fly over to Europe to go see her. Her little tantrum over it all (including many snide comments about my purchase after she spent the same amount of money not a week later on a 3DS XL) basically made sure i would never go over there. She also gripes about the pictures of dolls I reblog often times on tumblr.
I got my boy, and I love him to pieces. But sometimes I look at him and I just remember bitter words.
But I won't let her or anyone else spoil it for me because he was much needed company when I lived alone.

The only other bad 'experience' I ever had was when i was waiting for Ro to arrive, I dreamed that I had received some SD tan lady instead, with a face up and everything..! And she was very pretty but I was dumbstruck it wasn't what I had waited for. It was… Really odd. I was really relieved when I woke up :'D

    2. How sad!! I'm glad your not letting anyone get you down about your hobby! It seems that there a lot of people in the world that see BJDs as creepy. Ironically, my younger sister was like this until she got use to Lewis being in the room (we have to share) and now she's interested in getting one of her own :)

    3. You are definitely not alone in this as It's never happened to me, but I've heard it happen to many people here
      before.

    4. My worst experience happened last week. I had been saving to get a Senior Delf Vega. I finally managed to get enough in my savings account and tragedy struck. My car was totaled on April 28th. I had to watch as I drained Vega's funds into my checking account so I could get a new car. I suppose I was lucky enough to walk away from that accident with a bruised knee and a bleeding hand. I'm grateful to be alive, but sad that Vega won't be here by the time my girlfriend's doll is.

    5. I'm back with another "WORST doll experience ever!" Just when I thought it couldn't get worse than receiving your grail damaged because they were literally packed in newspaper and flimsy tape. This was in 2008-2009, I finally mustered the courage to restore her late last year.

Earlier this year, a girl posted many beautiful dolls for sale and one of them I noted as a special custom that the company painted as part of a private sale who I loved. So I contacted her to adopt the doll and I was so excited..the girl mentioned that her responses will be slightly delayed due to pregnancy and I'm fine with this; as long as there's some sort of communication, then all is well. I was very understanding toward the situation and also felt that communication wouldn't be fully lost. After all, everyone has access of some sort to a smart phone or computer nowadays for the most part thus I wasn't so worried about losing contact permanently.

We were talking back and forth, she was quite friendly and we both adored the company who said doll is from so we talked about it. A lot. I really enjoyed talking with her which is why I think I feel even more upset about this as it struck me as very strange. Once I finish payment and send her an e-mail confirming that she received my payment, she totally disappeared and I never heard back from her, not even now.

Every week I sent her a new e-mail wishing her well, hoping she's alright, etc. I was genuinely worried about this person because going from talking back and forth for a while to not even a reply is strange. My response from her? Nothing. I gave it her another week for a response. Still nothing. One of her friends who I'm also friends with told me to check her out on Facebook and it shows that she's active. I wasn't going to be creepy and message her on Facebook though, I just politely sent her an e-mail and Flickr message in hopes of one of them at least getting to her. Nothing.

Another one of her IRL friends is also my friend through a previous transaction, she's super sweet and I'm ever so grateful for her help. I sent her a message and asked her if she can check up on the seller, I was so worried about her well-being and her lack of responses further worried me throughout the weeks now turned into a month. This wonderful friend ends up getting in touch with her no problem and says that she sent out the doll already. I went from being anxious to relieved for this period of time..but the doll continued not to arrive and it was almost past due for an international dispute.

I felt defeated and saddened by this person's change in character and the overall lack of any communication for over a month now despite my gentle attempts to get in touch with her, I was never hurtful in any way. I send a message to her husband on Facebook as it seemed obvious that she had no intention of responding to me anywhere, one of our mutual friends also suggested that I do the same. Nothing. I tell other people RL of this incident and they too feel very angry and urge me to contact PayPal, the doll isn't coming nor will it ever.

The morning after I sent her husband a Facebook message, I pick up the phone to call PayPal for advice. A CSR on the phone told me that it sounds like I'm being scammed and to verbally file a ticket with him to best ensure that the ticket is as well-recorded as possible. As I was on the phone, the doorbell rang and, cell phone in hand, I went downstairs, opened the door, and the mailman with a giant package was there to greet me... o_O

Recognizing the seller's name on the package, I told the PayPal CSR it had surprisingly arrived and ended the call, then signed for the package, LOL First thing I did when I saw the package is also inspect the date on it and noticed the girl wasn't honest to her friend; she sent it past the time her friend called her, she never sent it out until her friend contacted her.

To this day, I seriously think her RL friend communicating is what guaranteed this doll being here. I'm so grateful and I love this doll, although when she arrived it wasn't a "Yay!! Eeee ^_^" anymore but an "Oh, there you are. Finally. ~.~" I'm over it now and I couldn't be happier. :aheartbea I have no idea if anyone else received their dolls, I haven't seen them yet in our community at all, and these weren't DoA transactions to go check.

Fast-forward to a few weeks ago and someone who knew of my situation linked me her old alias and string of problem transactions on DoA. Apparently this wasn't the first time that this sort of incident has happened with the individual and they're Marketplace Banned from here for never sending out dolls, etc. Imagine my surprise when I saw this and started counting my blessings yet again for how lucky I was in this situation..I was so edgy for the days that this incident took place, not even because of the money, but because I was legitimately concerned for her well-being and overall for how she changed from being so friendly to silence despite activity elsewhere, it totally baffled me.

Sorry for writing an essay, but oh my gosh, that was a scary transaction. So many mixed emotions between anxiety and disappointment. And I really didn't think after all that the poor doll would arrive, so I feel very fortunate that she's here with me today. :)

    6. My worst experience was just a couple of minutes ago. I got Loongsoul's YingLong today except he is missing his horns, tail, wings, and.....feet. I contacted the seller, and I am expecting they will make it right. Now, I just have to wait for them to respond to my email. But what can you do with no feet?:(

    7. I tried to dye my rs doll because I didn't like the normal scin color, the die didnt work at all, now he is a weird purple : ( I so should have just sold him and got a different color , oh well now I have a zombie boy lol

    8. What kind of pot did you use? An aluminum or steel one? The aluminum will make the dye change to a weird color. Also what color were you trying to dye him to?

    9. I have only been into bjd for a short period of time but.. My worst experience with a doll (my only one atm lol.)
was the first time i used mr super clear and didnt wait long enough between spraying and painting. The paint job was fine however when I checked on him after a hour his face had kind of slided off.. (He looked like someone had held a lighter to his face @.@)

    10. Don't feel too bad about that. My first faceup turned out...interesting. I used too much paint thinner. When I tried to clean off my dolls headcap (I had painted different colors on it to see how the paint looked) the resin was being eaten away! It looked like someone took fire to it but without scorch marks. Luckily when I redid her faceup a year later her face didn't turn out like her headcap. I've gotten better at faceups the last three or so years I've been in the hobby and now I wont hardly use paint. It's mostly watercolor pencils, chalk pastels, and gloss for me. I think I have more control that way.

By the way, you may have used a little too much MSC. I could see the paint sliding off a doll if the head was soaked in it. I do a quick spray not too close to the head and wait for a bit. I then give it another coat and wait. After that I start on my actual faceup. I usually do two layers before I start and then spray more MSC after I get what I like on the doll and then paint the next layer etc. Good luck on your faceups though. We all know how rough it is the first time around doing one.

    11. Luckily I haven't been in trouble like some of you have been, but my personal worst experiences:

Damage: 1) when I was allowed to borrow my friends littlefee I had no idea their hands were magnetic so I got a good scare when the hand just came of. 2)The s-hook of my soulkid's hand did really come off and I had to glue it back in. 3) I'm horrible at modding.

Falling: I wanted to place my doll on a plant and take a picture. Just as I was struggeling, I saw a spider. Being terribly arachnaphobic, I let go of my doll who took a dive to the stone ground. Like everything went in slowmotion I managed to snatch her wig mid fall and luckily it stayed on and it prevented my doll from hitting the ground. My heart skipped a beat.

Waiting times: I waited six months for my B&G girl to arrive. I ordered her through Think Pink and they hadn't let me know that B&G orders hadn't come through and were replaced a few months later. I found out when I asked them about my order. I was worried she'd never get here and I had ordered her right after my grandmother died, so this doll was extra special to me. Also the Momocolor wait was agonizing, because they wouldn't respond and made false promises. I was really worried I had gotten scammed and the insecurity of waiting was just dreadful. Luckily she did come after a five (almost six) month wait.

First face-up: was so horrible I submitted it to fckyeahbadbjds tumblr and it was featured there twice. xD It was honestly nightmare fuel. xD

    12. O my, o my I just melted my new girls forehead and nose...I have used this brand of nailpolish remover a million times, but missed the words "new formula" on the bottle....I feel like I'm about to vomit.

    13. Oh, man this thread makes me cringe! I've only had one incident where my Doll Chateau Charles faceplanted on the floor when I was trying to get him to stand and his extra ankle joint buckled. I admit I cried. Since then, he doesn't get to be any higher than kneeling height. XD Nothing compared to your horror stories! Now I know how much worse it can get. LOL ;D

    14. oh god.... sorry to hear that D: That's why I stick to good old isopropyl rubbing alcohol because I'm too scared to try and use nail polish remover and I havent picked up windsor & newton brush cleaner either :/ Is she just really soft or? Maybe leave her be after a good rinse under some water and see if she hardens back up.... but if she's really "melted" like you say... I have no idea what to tell you :(

    15. It is really badly melted, and pretty deep too. After I saw things where going wrong, I promptly started to rinse. Hot water method did not do anything. But thanks for the advise! When I tried to sand it out, I had to go pretty deep, it felt more like resculpting the head. She looks reasonable now.

    16. I probably wouldnt have used hot water... just because when things get heated up, it's better to use cold water to cool them down... if resin melting is a similar reaction to when you get burned on the hand, cold water would have probably been better. I'm not entirely sure if it would have worked in this case but, that's just my thought process. Sorry to hear that it was so bad :( I would have cried for sure.

    17. sorry, i'm not clear, first i rinsed cold for i think 20 minutes. then dried, then despaired. Logged on to DOa to see if there is another head on the MP. Then I tried the hotwater cause sometimes dents can get better with the hot water.

The positive sides of this experience: 1. although she looks a bit different, I was able to sand her into a decent shape.
      2. the fugly yellow eyeshadow is gone.

    18. My worst experience is from years ago, it actually put me off buying from anyone for a long time.
I'd been dreaming about owning a Delf Breakaway, always one of my grail dolls. So when I saw one of the girls at my local meets had one for sale I jumped at it. I traded a head and paid money toward it.....only to get it through the mail with the worst blushing I'd seen, it was just painted on, and everything looking slightly....off.
So I wiped the faceup, and there was nothing of the original Breakaway underneath except the nose. The ears, eyes and mouth had all been modded so much that they didn't exist underneath the epoxy. The head was stained and dirty, the inside was no better.
I nearly cried. There was no way I could have fixed him, and the amount I'd spent on this junk head was unbelievable.
I ended up selling the head at a big loss to someone who could mod. I just couldn't bond with it at all.
Now, 3/4 years on, I've bought another Breakaway head. I know it's unmodded and I've seen pictures of it, but I keep having flashbacks to the nightmare inducing first one >.< (The first was so bad, it actually got posted on DoD, by several people)

    19. Was this WildWoodFlower's BellaDonna by any chance?

    20. I've had three really bad doll experiences.

      1. I was trading an illusion spirit yo-SD with many, many extras for a Doll Family A Loong. The girl I was trading with seemed nice enough, and this was my second doll trade in my whole life. When the traded doll arrived, he was filthy, his headcap was broken (something the girl failed to tell me about), the expensive face-up he had by an artist I loved was damaged (again, was not told about this), and there was cut hair in between the doll's joints. I was shocked at his condition, and decided to do more research on the doll, something I should have done in the first place (I admit, I was naive). Turns out the headcap was broken in the doll's original sale, before it got to the girl who traded it to me (I was a third owner). When I asked the girl for a partial refund to try and get the doll cleaned up and repaired, she refused to pay for it, and said she would just file a postal claim for the damage. I was outraged, as it was fraud to do that! The doll was damaged prior to shipping! I then opened a problem transaction thread on DoA, showing all the proof I had that the doll was damaged before it got to me, and that the girl who traded me the doll listed it without disclosing anything about it. Once I exposed everything, she finally sent me the money to go have the doll repaired (which came to over $100. It was THAT bad). Sadly, after all the repairs and modifications (The broken headcap had to be modded into a magnetic one because the damage was so bad on the headcap peg system) I had done... I could not bond with the doll what so ever. I ended up selling him, and making sure the new owner knew every detail about the doll!

      2. I was selling my Dollzone Wing in a split. The girl who bought the head was utterly wonderful to deal with, but the one buying the body made me jump through hoops. She was living in Japan at the time, and requested the doll be sent to her unstrung. I told her I would be unable to ship him in his original box like that, and she was fine with the arrangement. She also told me shipping should only be around $50, and I believed her. I bubbled wrapped each part of the doll to ensure he would be safe in transit and nothing would break. Once he was packed up, I went to the post office to only be told it would cost almost $100 to ship him to Japan. I was horrified, but really had no choice at this point. I paid for the shipping, kept the recite, and went home. I immediately contacted the buyer for this body, telling her that the shipping came to more than what she quoted me. Her kindness soon took a nose dive, and she told me "That is not what we agreed to, and I am not going to pay anymore than I had". I tried to reason with her, but she refused to listen. I could not bare to leave her any feedback, and she did not leave me any feedback either. It was the last time I would EVER ship internationally again.

      3. It had been nearly two years since I bought a brand new doll, and decided to get a Momocolor Gaon (Though I really wanted to get a Volks Ryo Asuka. My friends thought he was too creepy looking and encouraged me to go with the Momocolor Gaon as she was just so darn cute). I knew I was taking a gamble, as I was ordering during a Winter event and close to Christmas. I also knew of orders from September/October that had yet to be filled, and had assumed they would be completed by January, and I would have my doll by February. After placing my order, I felt a pit in my stomach. I did not get an E-mail that confirmed I had paid for the doll in full and just a PDF of the invoice. By January, I realized something was wrong. The people who bought dolls way before me had not gotten them, yet... and Momocolor had yet to answer anyone's E-mail. When Feburary rolled around, everyone got the same copy and pasted E-mail that there was an issue with the production of the dolls, and not to worry. Our orders would arrive at the end of the month. The problem with this E-mail was that it was for a body and wig... and I had ordered a full doll, the event head, a wig, and some Enchanted Doll eyes. When the end of February came, no one got anything.
Momocolor had not sent any E-mails to anyone in a long time. People would mysteriously get dolls from the company without tracking numbers, and some got E-mails... but it was few and far in-between. At the end of May, everyone got another copy and paste E-mail stating that Momocolor was changing their company name to "Momotree" and would strive for better service. They once again claimed that the dolls would be snet out at the end of the month. I was skeptical by now, as were many others. But all of a sudden, people were finally getting their dolls! And within a week of that E-mail, I had gotten a message from Momocolor/Momotree that my doll was to be shipped that week, and I was going to get a refund for the Enchanted Doll eyes I ordered. Turns out the company NEVER ordered them, so they were not in stock. While this made me unhappy, I was thrilled that I would at least get a refund for the eyes. Within 3 days, my doll had arrived. Momocolor/Momotree threw in a free outfit to make up for the mess, and everything looked good (Though they sent me the wrong wig, but I am not going to complain about it. It's the right color and similar in style... plus I am too tired to really deal with ANOTHER issue with this company).
I am still waiting for the refund for my eyes, and will give it another week before I send them another E-mail. But I would not buy from this company ever again, even if their dolls are so amazing. And if I ever see another waiting room with people who had not gotten their orders in like 4 months and speak of a lack of communication... well... I will never buy a doll from that company until they get things straightened out. A lesson learned!
