1. It has come to the attention of forum staff that Dollshe Craft has ceased communications with dealers and customers, has failed to provide promised refunds for the excessive waits, and now has wait times surpassing 5 years in some cases. Forum staff are also concerned as there are claims being put forth that Dollshe plans to close down their doll making company. Due to the instability of the company, the lack of communication, the lack of promised refunds, and the wait times now surpassing 5 years, we strongly urge members to research the current state of this company very carefully and thoroughly before deciding to place an order. For more information please see the Dollshe waiting room. Do not assume this cannot happen to you or that your order will be different.

WORST Doll Experience EVER

Apr 30, 2012

    1. I have not had a really bad experience yet with BJD's at all only that one I received was strung too tight and her legs would fly up all of the time. I didn't have time to restring her so, she has stayed that way. I just never did understand why quality control with stringing couldn't be just a little better. I guess this is not really the worst experience ever, its more annoying. Oh and I was also pretty annoyed that her measurements were totally off from what they actually were. I am new to BJD collecting and I guess taking the information they give you on measurements as fact is probably a mistake.

    2. Worst experience so far (besides this 6+ month wait for doll chateau!) was on a doll FB group. I asked casually for people's personal preferences for sealants and how to tell if some old cans of MSC are still good. I was told my several people to throw it away because it is junk and I was stupid to have it, that I should huff it and so on and on and on. Really, really, really rude. When I called them out for being rude and explained that I have asthma and found the command to huff MSC particularly uncalled for and that I don't like wasting money and throwing out art supplies I got rude private messages accusing me of throwing a "whiny fit" and more rude stuff. When I tried to respond, they'd blocked me. I did absolutely nothing offensive, so I just like to think that perhaps they'd had a bad day or something and needed someone faceless to take it out on?...

Sometimes the people in this hobby really scare me.... D: That experience kept me quiet for a long, long time, let me tell you.

    3. Wow Von Alk, that's terrible! I haven't heard of bjd people acting so appalling! Sounds like a nasty immature gang :/

    4. That sounds terrible, Von Alk! Why would people do that, ugh?!

    5. I guess mine is going to meets and my dolls being ignored. I'm sort of ignored as well, but I mainly listen. But seeing the dolls ignored hurts. No one asks about them, asks to see them, or even takes pictures of them. I can go through the meet threads after the meet, and count on one hand how many of mine show up in pictures that aren't taken by me! I'm half thinking of going to the next meet without a doll and see if anyone notices.

    6. That's so awful, Rynn007. :( I'm sorry you're excluded. I thought the whole point of doll meets was to see other people's dolls and admire them? Nervous about ever bringing mine since not everyone is hybrid-friendly...

    7. that's awful :( I think the one thing that may be the problem is there are some people that dont like "first timer faceups" and or certain styles of clothes or if the doll doesnt look pristine and has flyaways etc. I have personally been put off by some first timer faceups but I have never, and will never, insult someone about their doll or treat it differently because it doesnt have that nice of a faceup. I mean... I am just starting in the hobby and have only done 3 faceups... and they arent as nice as some peoples. I definitely wouldnt want to be treated that way either :/ Are there other meetups that you can go to in your area that dont have the same people? Maybe try going to a different one with a new crowd and see what happens ^^ I myself havent ever been to a meet up and am a little scared of this kind of experience too. But you have to remember not to let people with poor attitudes bother you. In the end it's only making you upset and it isnt affecting them at all.

    8. All of mine are either company or kinda big name faceups. I tried on a doll a long time ago and failed so bad I sold him. The clothes are usually well made, and they look very nice. I guess cause they're not the latest and greatest (Oddly enough sometimes they are!) they're just not anyone's cup of tea but mine. I've always been excluded and hoped the dolls would have helped me fit in but I guess not. I give up. The only other group around here is now on Facebook and I barely go on there anymore. Sometimes they meet on days I'm working so I can't do their meets. I'm taking a tiny to this one and see if anyone notices me not putting it out.

Even my tan El there in my picture beside this post was ignored.

    9. @Rynn007: I'm so sorry that happened to you! You actually have a lot if dolls I would LOVE to see in person!
Especially your El as he's one of my favs! He looks so nice in your picture :)

Actually because of instances like this I try and make my way over to everyone I can at a meet to see their dolls.
I ask questions about the doll and I'll always ask their name! People put a lot of not only work but love into their
dolls and it's horrible to feel invisible at a meet! I hope you get a better crowd :(

    10. Rynn - If your ever on DairylandBJD.com if you live in IL check out the Mitsuwa Monthly meet ups. They're a really good group I go all the time. Sometimes you just need to find your niche

    11. i would have to say when i got my cute kitties from Hujoo. i got them cuz i love cats.. but after i painted them got eyes and all that fun stuff.. i just didnt bond with them. im very new to the hobby so every time i see someone say they didnt bond with a doll.. i was like how can you not bond.. its just a doll.. BUT i learned it happens. so i ended up selling them. all 3 gone. i have 2 other dolls who i love to bits.. and a Thyme horse on the way.. i saw that one and fell in love.. with just a picture!! so in the end i learned you can bond with dolls and some you just dont.. but you can always sell and buy one you will bond with!!

    12. I've looked up different methods, and the best way to fix it is with a drill and a metal eye-hook...I'm just very nervous to mod my doll on my own.
      Thanks for the suggestion, though!

    13. Those people are jerks! There are plenty of nice groups on facebook with great people! I'd just leave that one and join a different one.

:o Are those people blind? I'd LOVE to see Mani (sp?) up close and personal, not to mention your other ones!

I bet if you show up with no dolls, they'll think you're a newbie and try to enable you.

I'd not worry about it. Many people hybrid dolls so that they can get the aesthetics they want. I have a couple of hybrids, and no one says anything, they just fuss over them. ;)

We make it a point in our Ohio BJD group to take pics of everyone's dolls and post them. After all, its only fair, ne?

I got a letter from Spiritdoll saying that theyir site was hacked and that they were working on it and everyone's orders were fine. By the time I got the email, the site was back.

I guess my current worst experience is that Noriko, my Luts/CP dark Elf Soo/Fairyland Feeple hybrid girl's head fell apart when I moved it the other day. :| I took the neckpiece turnkey off months ago when her body came home since she's a regular s-hook girl, and used a c-donut to hold her s-hook. The s-hook had worked its way through the slots of the donut and fell through, and then when I went to move her head, I ended up with her head in my hand! :o I went to put her back together, not noticing that the c-donut's shots had been destroyed by the s-hook and the tight tension and when I moved her head again, it not only fell off, but the s-hook went inside of her body and dented the little ball inside of her neck. :doh

So I restrung her with a larger s-hook and the only full o-donut I had and tried to put her back together. I used a ribbon and my bedroom doorknob to pull the stringing at her neck so that I can put the s-hook in the stringing, and the ribbon broke, sending her DES head and the o-donut flying at the hardwood floor! I checked her elf ears and nose, and she's fine. So I tried again, and the new ribbon also broke! Same thing, but I managed to catch her head this time. I used a shoelace for the third time and managed to get her back together with a little more effort.

I guess I string my dolls pretty tight. :sweat

    14. Thanks everyone for all the kind responses D: It's seriously quite encouraging that those sort of comments are not seen as normal here, whereas on there, their comments got likes? I don't know. So far out of the FB groups BJD addicts has been way more friendly and mature.

    15. Ah! So that's what happened to Spiritdoll. Now we know.

Instead of using a ribbon, how about a leather cord? I gave up on the ribbon coz it was too soft and it hurt too much. The leather has some stiffness so it's easier to thread through legs and doesn't hurt as much. You can also wrap it around a toothbrush to make yourself a quick make-shift handle.

    16. My first poor experience was with SOOM and I waited a long time for the order to be filled. The wait caused my excitement to fizzle. I have not ordered from SOOM since..

My second awful experience was with LATIDOLL. I waited for almost a year for Latidoll to fill my order and when it finally arrived, it was missing items. The items were small things like shoes, wig, etc... The wait and complications made my excitement die and I couldn't seem to enjoy the arrival of the group of yellows. I can honestly say that I will not be ordering from Lati again.

    17. I'd be more inclined to make a necklace out of a leather cord than use it to restring! I used a shoelace, but I might get a whole collection of them in different widths so that the ribbon breaking won't happen again.

Oh, I don't use a handle of any kind. I loop the ribbon/shoelace/etc around a doorknob and PULL! That way, I don't hurt my hands. ;) My house is old and the doors and doorknobs both are VERY sturdy! Probably because of the layers of paint different landlords have caked over all the doorknobs over the years. :|

    18. Probably when I went to a tea party. (Ages ago!)

This was one of my first doll meets around 6 years ago, so I tried making some friends. Exchanged emails and phone numbers which ended up being a pretty bad idea... One person got strangely and eventually found information about me. It was a really scary experience for me since I'm kind of bad at telling people 'no'. I only exchanged a couple words with them too.

Anyways it was freaky at the meet up because the same person would keep taking my doll from off the display table and carry them around. Two instances at the same event; I would go back to get my doll to show people only to realize that my doll wasn't there.

I'm really wary about leaving my doll somewhere now, and who I exchange information with.....

    19. the only bad experience I had with bjd was
when I wanted to get an iplehouse Jessica and I didn't how to order online
      :(
so I asked my friend to do it for me
(and that was a big mistake) and I gave her the money and all the info about how I wanted her
since she was my first bjd I was so happy when she arrived but then I discovered that she was a recast T_T
and I felt so disappointed and sad but I loved her so much
      :'(
and when I tried to tell that friend about the whole thing she never replied to to me and I think she blocked me as well
      :pout:
well I only met her online and she was the one who introduced me to the bjd hobby
but at least that made me learn not to trust people so easily
however I learned to shop online myself XD and I'm waiting for my first legit doll
      :aheartbea
can't wait for her arrival =)

    20. Ranno: wow she literally stole from you. I hope she's not from DoA and it seems you got over it, I don't know how I would have reacted in your case, I think I would have taken the address from her paypal and gone straight to her house and call the police...x_X and going mad at the same time.

This reminds me of someone that used to sell scarves in here, I was a newbie and I didn't have paypal. I sent her concealed cash(it was only $5) and weeks passed by and I still didn't see no scarf :| I got very mad because she wouldn't answer my PMs, it was only $5 mind you but I wasn't going to let it pass!! thanks to the help of DoA moderators, they contacted her and weeks later I received my scarf...O.< I hate it when sellers are not responsible or lack communication with their customers, this is why I try to treat my buyers the same way I want to be treated because I know how maddening and frustrating it is when you are not treated well. But I've dealt with many wonderful people here, always be cautious though.
