WORST Doll Experience EVER

Apr 30, 2012

    1. Ok, I think the most sad expirience I got was purchasing a Vivien head from elfdoll.
I purchased at the event period and everybody else allready resieved their dolls and stuff. And my order seemed to be the only left behind.
I asked administrator several times about the shipping date and it was "Oh, sorry, your order will be shipped next week" everytime. But the order kept hanging there about two months. And every week they repeated it will ship next week.
I still don't know what happened there, but I'd prefer an honest answer. I will think twice before ordering from them again(

    2. I've been spending a lot of time the past days reading all your experiences and a lot of them have make me feel so angry and sad for you! sending my regards for you all who lost dolls and money.

After this I don't feel like I been in such unluck with my dolls as some of you, Ofcourse I have had my loong waiting.. Like before customhouse (ai) and unidoll went down. (especially customhouse was stressing me out at that time) And the time I been waiting for a doll body with the slowest shipping ever! Received broken parts but nothing to big.

My latest experience had really stressed me out and it took me a very long time and effort to get this sorted out. I bought a body from a company to match one of my heads. The parcel arrived and I was so happy until I open the box.. some items was wrong and the body had the totally wrong color! I had to ship the box back and wait for them to send me a new one. fine, I could do that. So I waited, asked how it's getting on. After like two months the company tells me that they had make a misstake even before I purchased the body. the color option I had choose wasn't available (!) xD
At the end I got all of my money back but even so I wish that they had told me before so I would not have been worried all those months.

    3. My worst doll experience was at a convention, and i'm sure one of the worst for all the people who were there in attendance.
A lot of us had entered our dolls into a contest, so we had them on their stands on the tables waiting for the contest to begin.
And i know that accidents happen, and it was truly an accident... But someone had bumped into the table sending all our dolls into a domino affect.... One by one they just started knocking each other over and onto the floor.
Luckily, my doll wasn't damaged in any way... But others' had their dolls come up with broken fingers and chipped faceups.
Since then, everyone has become more cautious when letting anyone stand near a table full of dolls.

    4. One of the worst experiences I had was when I bought my first doll from the Bobobie website, and around the time my doll should have been shipped, their website was down for at least a solid week. It scared the crap out of me thinking that the company had just quit and ran. But I found out later that the website was just undergoing some reconstruction. Scared the crap out of me, but everything turned out okay in the end. c:

    5. Oh yeah Bobobie has had terrible trouble with people hacking and spamming their site in the past too, they have really tried to fight them but it has caused a lot of trouble over the last few years.

    6. I haven't had my doll very long so nothing too horrific yet. I do have a habit of dropping things though and she's gotten a small gey dent on her forehead. Luckily I don't love her body because I can tell I'm probably going to get it scratched pretty soon. She keeps face planting to which does not help my case at all (I haven't gotten around to tightening)

    7. Why did I read the WHOLE thread in the past days? My doll still has to arrive, and I am in Italy, so, yeah, shitty postal services (even if EMS Premium should be fine), and I am used to deal with them, I worked for a freight company in the past, but still...

XD... Some of your worst experience made me want to hug you all, so, here *Hugs everyone* you need it.

Thanks for sharing, though, because I think I have learnt something useful.

Schtiel, has the doll arrived in the end?

    8. When I dropped my previous Minifee Woosoo on his nose. I was so sure I dented it that I couldn't stop staring and touching his nose. Thankfully nothing happened!

    9. Happy to say that my doll did arrive in the end :). It was a terrible experience, and the postman gave some really dumb excuses about how the mail got mixed up because college students were back in town etc etc. But, everything arrived with no damage (and unopened thankfully!), and the people who tried to help out were wonderful to deal with. Let's hope that never happens again haha.

    10. Mine all seem to involve me turning my camera into a weapon of mass dolly destruction.

Right after my DT girl Fawn arrived, I was taking a closeup photo and had her sitting up on the back of the sofa where the light was good. Same old story - thought she was balanced, but she wasn't. She fell off the back and hit the baseboard and floor - hard. She came out of it without a scratch, though. I was sure I'd have to glue a finger or to back on, at the very least.

Then, a few months later, I was taking a photo of Aura and Paisley standing on the back deck rail - and Paisley got caught by a gust of wind and fell off the rail to the ground. She landed unharmed in a little bed of primroses - didn't even lose her wig - but it took forever to find the hat she had on and one of her shoes.

In between those two, Daisy tool a header off a windowsill during a photo session, too. She wasn't harmed, but it took me a week to find her right hand.

    11. I had a doll disappear for just over a month between the delivery depot and a local post office. The depot kept saying that the parcel was at the post office and the post office insisted it was at the depot! The amount of time I spent on the phone or physically at the depot and the post office was beyond a joke! Parcelforce always make new doll arrivals a stressful experience, which unfortunately has ruined some of my last purchases to the extent that I sold the dolls shortly after they finally arrived.

    12. Getting very, very confused when talking to a seller because they think you want to buy one doll, and you want to buy another doll, and so the things they're saying mean nothing to you and the things you are saying mean nothing to them.

    13. My worse....it was a living nightmare. I had been in love with the hobby for six years. I would Google search bjds and look on ebay. I found one I couldn't live without. I researched the ebay seller. Finally after weeks of going back and forth I bought her. My Angel of Dream Qi. I bought wigs eyes and clothes. I became obsessed with her tracking number. The day of her delivery came! I worked the night before. I tried to stay up, but I passed out. Went I woke up I checked the delivery status. Delivered! I ran down staires. There was nothing. I search the neighborhood. I called the post office. She was gone. Stolen. Post said they wrrr no responsible because I left no delivery instuctions. The seller failed to have signature confirmation on her. They said that once she is marked as delivered I had no right to demand compensation. I just wanted my doll. I filed a police report. I called every place in my area to let them know this was a stolen item. After a month of fighting I got the money back for her and ordered her from AoD themselves. That was almost as bad. They refused to repond to any email or questions. I had given up. I filed a paypal claim. Then out of no where two months after I ordered her. There she was.

    14. wow... that sucks :( sorry to hear she got stolen the first time! Also... when did you order her from AoD? Because it generally takes a couple of months.. sometimes 3 or 4 even due to backlogs of orders, parts having issues when casted, etc. Dollshe dolls have been known to take up to a year for delivery... so if it had been only two months since you ordered when she finally arrived, that is actually a pretty good turn around time for the BJD hobby. You learn to be patient real quick once you get into buying these dolls ^^ My first took about 4 months to arrive... not because she wasnt done until then, but because I ordered her from a dealer, along with a wig and shoes etc from two other companies. It took dollzone like 3 months to make the shoes + whatever else the dealer ordered when they placed the order for them... and the wig took about 2.5-3 months or something close to that to be sent from Angell-studio... my doll was actually done in about 6-8? weeks or so... she came from Doll Leaves. The fastest I have gotten a doll was a month... and that was my soom rosette Fir christmas kit ^^

    15. I reordered her in February. I would have not had a problem if they would have responded to my emails. I understand patience is very important in this hobby. I have Plaice from impldoll on layaway right now. Impldoll and iplhouse have been so quick to reply to messages. Also AoD never sent me a tracking number. So if something would have happened I would have never known. I love Qi. That is why I am getting her a husband. :)

    16. Haven't really experienced anything terrible or had any serious dolly accidents, but I've had a nightmare more than once that I'm sitting there holding the first girl I ever bought, I then notice a crack on her face and investigate only to have the entire head crumble in my hand like a crushed cookie. Dx

The part where I've had this nightmare more than once concerns me...

    17. That is terrifying! I think that it is just worry dream. I've had one like that but with my teeth. It was due to lack of dental insurance.

    18. Oh man. Fortunately for me, none of my bad doll experiences have ended in tears. They've just given me near-heart attacks. The worst by far, though, happened at last month's doll meet-up: I dropped - and miraculously caught - my floating head, Dita, not once, but TWICE.

The first time I almost dropped him requires a bit of background: This meet-up was Halloween-themed, and I didn't have any costumes for my dolls, so I did the next best thing. I found an SD-sized brain-shaped stress ball and stuffed it inside Dita's head, just for laughs. Later at the meet-up, I was chatting with another doll owner, enjoying some refreshments, when I decided I wanted to show her the "spooky thing" I'd done with Dita. I set down my cup of tea, stood up, retrieved Dita from the dolly table, went to undo his headcap on the way back...and my fingers slipped. There, in front of everybody, Dita's head and headcap went flying, the brain popped out, and I managed to grab both head parts in mid-air right as his brain plopped into my tea. But no people or dollies were harmed, everyone (myself included) had a good laugh, and the meet-up carried on like nothing ever happened. Until I picked up Dita again later to try on some new eyes. He slipped out of my hands again, I caught him, and no one was hurt, save my near-heart attack.

      Still. What the heck, Dita.

    19. Once I was manipulating a friend's doll that she left me for some weeks, and as I was slightly turning the head, the hook just got off and the doll totally unstrung. ALmost in tears, I called a friend so that she could tell me what to do and had to restring it. I was really stressed out, but I managed to do it and fortunately the doll wasn't damaged at all^^

    20. I probably shouldn't be laughing so hard at the image of the brain landing in your tea. I think Dita's got a weird sense of humor. :)
