It has come to the attention of forum staff that Dollshe Craft has ceased communications with dealers and customers, has failed to provide promised refunds for the excessive waits, and now has wait times surpassing 5 years in some cases. Forum staff are also concerned as there are claims being put forth that Dollshe plans to close down their doll making company. Due to the instability of the company, the lack of communication, the lack of promised refunds, and the wait times now surpassing 5 years, we strongly urge members to research the current state of this company very carefully and thoroughly before deciding to place an order. WORST Doll Experience EVER

Apr 30, 2012

    1. Yeah, about same here! I have had dreams where I suddenly notice that the faceup is either chipped or smeared and then, as I investigate further, it just seem to melt... Like, it gets worse and worse the more I look!

But bad experiences overall has just been with bad doll bodies. The SD Crobidoll body as well as the SD DollLeaves body were nightmares to handle. Turned me off from the whole dolls in the end...

    2. Nah, it's all good! The timing couldn't have been more perfect, and it was A LOT funnier than safely undoing his headcap and showing people the brain myself would have been. And Dita...I think it's a combination of a weird sense of humor and a general disregard for his own safety. He's fallen or rolled over a couple other times in the past, but those two times at the meet-up were the most terrifying. I just hope this trend doesn't continue when I finally get him a body!

    3. I know those kind of dreams. I have them like that but instead of dolls breaking on their own, it's other people shattering them. I had a really bad one where my best friend finally got her first doll and a bunch of kids snatched it up and destroyed it. Even though it was a dream, I felt really bad and I woke up in a bad mood the next morning.

    4. I recently purchased a nanuri 2014 head with a beautiful viridian house faceup like thirdhand from someone, and when it arrived it came with tons of flecks all over it. At first I thought it was just the generic packing flecks. But much to my dismay it had somehow gotten stuck into the faceup (and the person who had originally owned it and got it a viridian house faceup clearly didnt have those flecks which meant it had came from the person I purchased it from).
Since I have great social anxiety I didn't want to recontact the person I bought it from and figured I could deal with it myself. So I purchased some magic clean erasers and started gently scrubbing it off. Most still wouldn't come off but some did so I kept on trying. Then right as I decided to give up because I figured I would rather live with those flecks than damage the custom faceup, my finger slipped off the magic eraser scratching a portion of the blush off.
I started having a panic attack and couldn't think rationally and was just bawling over this beautiful doll I had ruined and tried to fix it (looking back at it now I really wish had just kept it with that one little scratch) and seeing if I could smooth it over somehow but I just ended up chipping it further...
I realized the longer I was holding it the most damage I was causing to it so I quickly just put it on my doll shelf and laid down to calm down from my panic attack.
A few weeks have passed since then and I finally dare to look at the head again and right now my only solution is to give it some sort of tattoo over it (i bought these really cute vine decals I thought I might put over it since I have no experience in doing faceups I can't just reapply the blush...)
And in the end she still has those strange dark flecks all over her faceup...
I just hope this doesn't scare me from purchasing things second hand, because I took all my courage to finally contact the seller and only to have it arrive with strange flecks that my brain kept on bugging me to no end till I finally tried to do something about it and end up making it look worse. :(

    5. That sounds really horrible, nostalgicCheesecake!
Social anxiety - or any anxiety - is a drag too, to say the least... But if there is a chance that the head was stained or the faceup was damaged the way you described it, prior to getting shipped, I would not want to deal with the seller. Even if it was bad packing, I would want to know. It is helpful for others to know of any problems with sellers. So I hope that maybe just mentioning that the head/purchase has arrived along with its condition - at the same time - to the seller, could be something you will be able to do in the future to perhaps solve any problems you encounter! I hope you reach some solution, that you are happy with, with your doll too. Fighto!

    6. I had a doll get lost in the mail once. I'd been following the tracking and then it said my doll had been delivered but...no doll. I wasn't immediately concerned because sometimes the tracking updates before the package is handed off. I waited until the end of the day. No doll. Checked the mail room. No doll. Waited another day thinking maybe someone else in the office signed for it and left it in a weird spot. Nope.No dice. So, I called the post office who checked with the mailman to see if he remembered dropping off a package from China. Turns out my Impldoll Ives got delivered to a completely different address no where near my office! And, what's more, the person signed for it! The mail carrier managed to sort it out and I got him the following Monday but, man, what a fiasco. Still, it didn't end in me losing a doll or my money so I feel like I got off easy compared with some of these other stories!

    7. mine ended up being the dealer I worked with the VERY first time I tried to order a bjd.
The order and paying part was fine but it got to the point where they had the doll and they just wouldn't send it to me.... and then it had turned out that they had lost all the addresses, and even though I was in email contact with them they didn't bother to ask me, maybe my address, so they almost sent my doll to Texas when I live in NC. That was also when I had to start calling them about it.
In the end they said they would be sending me extra stuff with the doll, so I got the doll in the mail and guess what, wrong everything but the doll sculpt. Originally I had ordered a doll (being it was my first doll) that was blushed, had a faceup, and a full set (which I paid for) I only got a doll, wrong color and ONLY a faceup. They said that they would send me extra stuff, well they sent me extra stuff alright....... it's like they also said they would send me a ticket for a con they hosted, but alas...noooooo. I had sent them a message about not getting the full set and they changed it up on me. So basically, I spent $100 more than the doll sold for from the company itself, and I almost had to take a road trip to the location of the company in order to get A doll.
As of now, she is one of my favorites, and all the trouble probably wasn't worth it but in the end, thanks to my friend who blushed her, she ended up being better than what they could give me.
Lets just say, I'm not to fond of those people being I got ripped off and a bunch of stuff that I didn't want.... All I wanted was what I ordered. But it didn't work out that way. But as I said, I got a doll that got super personalized and they can't take credit for making my very first doll experience simple in the slightest or pleasant....

    8. I can't understand why companies mess people around like that......don't they want to stay in business???? I would never buy from a company again who treated me like that, and I would warn everyone I know off doing so as well :(

The very first resin BJD I bought was a Resinsoul and the company didn't address her properly, they put the street name, but no number and just the country, but no name of the town and my street name on my postal address is a pretty common one.
So basically there was no way for the postal service to even know which town the package even needed to go to, just my name and a street name that could have been anywhere.
I understand that the name of my town is a bit of a bummer to spell (Ngaruawahia) but come on, unless your "A's" are broken.

Luckily for me the courier saw the package and recognized my name as I get a lot of packages, so the doll managed to find it's way home after all and I learned that I am almost single handedly holding up this courier service with my volume of mail. Lol.

    9. oh wow. that's pretty insane!!!
and yeah.. I do warn people if they ask me who they should go to and who they should avoid....because I shouldn't have to hunt my doll and drive 8 hours to get to the area that it is in.
I'm glad you got your doll though! it's ridiculous that it wasn't even addressed right ><

    10. My Magical Angel/XMDoll Amy/Rosa I got for $90 through Mirodoll has been a train wreck from start to finish. Her jointed feet have never worked right, and no amount of modding or sanding has been able to get her to stand so beautifully on her toes like I hoped she would. She has weird chips on some places, her left shoulder is translucent, and her arms aren't drilled out through the center. When I tried to mod her arms to give her a rotating upper arm joint, the holes don't line up right and her arm is completely misaligned. I tried to get Miro to replace the feet, but I'd already painted her face and sanded down her GIANT boobs, so they wouldn't let me send her back or give me replacement parts. I just kind of let it go since she was on a 35% off sale and there were bound to be quality issues at that steep of a discount. I love Clara, but she's supposed to be a ballerina, and she can hardly stand!

    11. My worst experience so far: my doll lost a leg in the forest and I was trying to find it... (luckily I did)... that my doll fell on her face and her dress part got torn... T_T I heard something inside me breaks a little...

    12. My worst was definitely when my first doll took a dive from the top of my bookshelf, into my metal dresser. My heart died for a few seconds before i could check if she was okay. And it all happened because my brother got mad and punched the wall... I was so mad i scream-ranted at him for half an hour! But it went well in the end since she didn't get damaged. But since then i mostly keep her in her box!

    13. That was definitely when my DHS Mica fell off the top of the doll cabinet (utterly stupid place to put him, I know), and got smashed to pieces. :...(

    14. I haven't had too many traumatic experiences yet (thankfully :D).
I would agree with Caillou and say the worst is when I don't bond with a doll. It's so disappointing and sad.
It's only happened once so far, but it has really made me question the dolls I bring into my house!

    15. I haven’t had any truly bad experiences with my dolls, fortunately. Nothing like I’ve read in some of your posts at any rate. My first doll was an AOD Yue. I unboxed him and carefully unwrapped him…only to discover that there was a thumbnail sized chip on his ankle joint. Lucky for me, the piece of resin that had chipped off was in the box and in one piece, so I managed to fix him with a little bit of super glue.

    16. God, most of the stories in this thread are awful- yikes!

I'm going through one right now...my Luts TDF20 Elf girl was supposed to arrive today, but when I checked her tracking after the mail came and she was not in it, I saw that she was being returned to sender because she was unclaimed by the addressee, apparently. (The package never left Chicago. It did not get the chance to be unclaimed by the addressee. UGH.) Called USPS customer service and they've opened a case on her...I just hope she turns up safe. T_T (Ordered wigs with her too, and they're both sold out now.) She's my second ever BJD and this was my first time ordering direct from a company. Figures!

    17. Ahhhhhh screams!!! Oh no, this is just awful.

    18. I haven't had any seriously bad experiences (does re-stringing count?) although I did have a nightmare that the doll I had just ordered arrived, but had burns of some kind all over her body that resembled alligator skin. It was probably the weirdest doll related thing I've gone through.

    19. I was replacing a head of a doll one day when the pliers I was using to pull on the strings slipped and split my lip. Though mainly that was bad for my husband, who later got in trouble because I had a split lip and he didn't ask me what happened for two days.

    20. Reading all of these horrific stories is making me panicky! D:
