WORST Doll Experience EVER

To me that means that you'll have to wait til it hits U.S. customs clearance... so it very well could be here, but just not sorted etc.... or it could be going by boat like Vicemage stated... hopefully it updates soon.

It's definitely something that could be a very real issue right now, too; just this morning, once of my subscription services sent out an apology for the delay in this month's shipment, with photos of the port as it is normally, and as it is now. It's pretty dramatic! Likewise, where I work, we're suffering some stock outages due to a few products coming from Asia, that can't make it fast enough due to the port delays. And even a couple of my Kickstarters have been suffering delays due to the port situation!

That's why I've just been sitting on my hands waiting for an update on that Taobao shipment. There's nothing to be done except to wait out the delays, sadly. It's bad enough that this hobby tends to be such a waiting game anyway, and worse when things like this happen, but hopefully it'll be resolved on its own soon enough!

 

I once bought a doll from ebay, I had done this many times before and they had come in with no problems and looked just like the pictures. I decided to get this Bobobie Sprite with a cute faceup paid for it. She came in a few days later, not as described, it was a train wreck, she was severely yellowed, and she just looked abused and unloved, luckily with the help of some friends, I fixed her up and modded her and she is kinda endearing and cute. I am glad I could take a bad situation and make it better and give the doll some new life and a good home.

 

I never really had a terrible experience. But once my dog ate my brand new wig and sweater I had gotten in the mail and forgot to put it up before I went to sleep. Not really that bad, but it still made me very upset.

It's EMS, so air. It hasn't updated at all. Mine go to NY, not LA. I've given up hope of it coming now. Tomorrow marks 2 full weeks since it was sent. Never had an EMS package go missing.

 

Took Yo's head off to dress him up with the new shirt I sew and when I got the head back his head... Sometimes don't keep it at it's place. Really annoying.

 

well that sucks :/ Unless NY customs is just really backed up or something? Have you tried calling and seeing if maybe it was set aside some where and forgotten about?

 

I've had an EMS packages go to NY instead of LA. It will just take longer to arrive to you. For me it takes in between 3 weeks to a month just to get my package. It never updates but it somehow got to me. I think it just gets stopped at customs and they seem to take forever there.

 

Well, never got a flight number for it, and though I called USPS, they say it's in Japanese customs. I don't speak Japanese, so can't call them. Don't know US Customs number so can't call them either. AmiAmi said they'd check into it in 2 weeks, when I email back. Tried Track-trace and USPS but both say the same thing.

I had a package (Royal Mail, not EMS, but "supposed to be treated as express") vanish into NY customs earlier this year, calls did nothing, but strangely an email got things moving again. And I found a lot of cases online, too, where lots of people experienced the same thing, an email working where a call didn't. I'll still be hoping your package shows up!

For me it was winning a doll on eBay for a really good price and... Well, when they say something is too good to be true, it usually is.
Turned out it was a scam, the seller never had the doll and never intended to honor the sale.

Fortunately I had protection through PayPal and got my money back so in the end it wasn't too terrible. Except that I really wanted that doll and every other time I've seen her she's been out of my comfortable price range T_T

 

Rynn, that's normal. Seriously, lately I've been ordering tons of packages from Europe, Korea and China and so far every damn one of them has taken several weeks to a month to get here. And it's the same pattern. It's out dispatched and then weeks of nothing. Finally it will pop up. And then the post office has been taking forever just to deliver it even when it is here. I think the snow that has hit NYC the past few weeks has made it even worse that usual. It will move. Eventually. I set mine to update me via text whenever there is movement on the package. Not sure if you'd want to do that. I have unlimited texting so I don't care.

edit: Oh and your packages do come from NYC? Ouch. Like I said, lately it's been worse than usual because our weather has been so bad and flights have gotten cancelled left and right. It won't hurt to email, but you're probably going to have to just wait it out. It will most likely get to you though. Things have just been slow. I'm in NYC and I've been having trouble getting packages on time. It's been bad. BUT I have received all my packages.

 

I just had a very expensive package coming from Spain essentially sit somewhere between Spanish customs and the US for a month without updating. It finally hit US customs and flew through, so I think usual winter rush on top of a lot of bad weather have really clogged things up shipping wise.

 

I've been waiting since Dec 24 for a package from Russia. The same thing as you described is happening to me. I have a sneaking suspicion that my box is on a ship! The Etsy seller is fantastic. She refunded me my money on her own initiative but I promised to pay her back if the item shows up.

So for me the very worst experiences have been waiting and waiting and waiting. It took over six months to get my DC Bella and now I'm not sure I'm bonding with her. I really wanted a new doll since I hadn't bought any since 2009 and the wait was excruciating! While waiting I ended up buying a Doll Leaves Gabriel on the MP and a DIM Laia and Gayanne from DIM and I'm finding that I like them alot better. I think the wait is what shifted how I feel about my doll.

The other worst experience is not being able to get the dolls I want because they're sold out or I missed a preorder. I'm still crying about missing out on Nabarro's Booth. It's so very frustrating!

 

My worst experience isn't that bad. I had just gotten my doll in the mail, and my father was helping me put her eyes in, and the eye broke!
Thankfully, it was an easy fix.

 

Yeah, it's set to text me, but never had EMS move so slow. I know you had the snow up there in NYC, but a friend had the same thing shipped two days later than mine and has had her's for a few days now so mine is definately lost.
